MLG will still pay to have koreans shipped over for our enjoyment. they don't need an exchange program to do that. it would be bad business (and completely ridiculous) for MLG not to bring in money-maker koreans to the tournaments. they may, however, not enter into another exchange agreement with GOM, but i doubt that as well. people will lick their wounds and carry on. Sure MLG is willing to pay to have them come over, but will Korean teams allow ther players to go? We all seen what happened with the NASL, we all know how sensetive the Koreans can be. BW may still be the game of choice in Korea but for how long? Eventually BW and Kespa are going to switch over. We already know that some teams are starting the transition. We need the Koreans more then they need us and they know that. Which is why they have the capability to change rules to benefit themselves. IMO Korean players/teams don't like naniwa because of what happened at MLG, this is GOM's excuse to make those teams happy.

That being said, no real harm done . GOM just needs to make sure nothing like this ever happens again. Naniwa would disagree

I hope GOM doesn't feel pressure to reverse their decision because so many vocal posters on Teamliquid don't understand the meaning of respect. I'm really sick of this whole controversy because no matter how many level-headed evaluations are posted, there are so many people that will never understand. There are ways for Gom to punish Naniwa without breaking their agreements with MLG.

Then MLG says well we have a contract with you so you have to give us that prize. Instead they basically say there was no legal agreement and gom is ok to change it when they want to. So MLG is promising things they have no control over, that is wrong on their part.

I actually felt this before as well, the Korean invites to tournaments of different sorts, always seemed very arbitrary and random to me, even though they made it sound like "X player qualifies because he's rank Y" etc. No point for MLG to keep up this arrangement now imo..

And at the time of the event, things had not changed and EVERYONE was under the impression that the top non code S player would get code S. Now GOM has changed that without telling anyone and you are blaming MLG? Really?.... In reality its the GOM prize not MLG prize because GOM is/was awarding the prize to the mlg player....

Its the same thing if MLG promise 1 million dollars to a winner of a tournament and then decide aftwards to change it becuase its in there power todo so. Mindblowing well, its more like MLG promising that if you win the tournament a third-party will pay you a million dollars, and then after winning it, the third-party says they aren't going to pay (for whatever reason). MLG promised something that they had no power to give themselves, but were relying on GOM to give, and GOM said although that was the deal in the past, we changed it (sorry for not telling you sooner guys, but enjoy the blizzcup instead). lesson to be learned: MLG, clarify prize pools before promising them. GOM, be a little more upfront with your announcements so there is no confusion in the future.

The MLG press release in the original post specifically says that GOM was within their rights to act as they did. Thus, the did not break their agreement at all--this was in the contract to begin with.

Look pal, there is a point in which you have to stand for something. GOM's bait-and-switch, unilateral decisions have really enraged a big part of the community and for a good reason. GOM stated Naniwa's behavior was unprofessional blah blah.. this latest bit of information, make them look so unprofessional and hypocritical, it's not even funny.. GOM should release an apology to all the community, and most of all Naniwa for having screwed him big time.
