Bad statement because of the following.
1. No apology for slandering naniwa live 2. The whole giving seed to Sen/Idra based on performance when we know its because of their fan base ( stop lying and be honest for once) 3. Lying about the whole Naniwa Providence Seed part ( if you never gave him a code S spot then how the heck can you punish him by taking it away).
Sorry but there is no way i will ever support GOM in the future. I for one will vote with my wallet and not buy anymore tickets and I will tell all my friends to avoid it as well

I personally still have to take Naniwas side even after reading Gom's Statement and I really think the format kind of forced the situation having bo1 in the "biggest" tournament with the best players who won tournaments throughout the year all the games were cheesy and Naniwa tried his best in 3 of them and feels mentally crushed then they make him play a meaningless match. I wonder where you draw the line on what strategies you can perform that would be disrespectful for a meaningless match.

Lying about Providence seed is really bad.

Tyranny at its finest.. I guess it's just fine coz it's Naniwa.. GOMTV lost my respect here.

They did not slander Naniwa live, what was said got mistranslated.

They think they're 100% correct and only blame NaNiwa. Hopefully Blizzard won't give the next SC2 contract to you but to KeSPA. That is probably because factually they are 100% correct. Having a "pointless" game in the tournament is not "good" but is not part of the issue. Naniwas unprofessional behaviour is.
And Naniwa takes 100% of the heat and GOMtv none. Naniwa is the villain who should apologize and have his balls clipped. All this did is further empower GOM as a league above all of SC2 esports, intentional or not, and fans/players are willing to sit back and take it.

These seeds will be determined by outstanding results in international tournaments.....During this phase of consideration aforementioned incident happened, which led us to the decision to remove NaNiWa from the top of the list of considered players
So the qualification system for the seed is up to GOMTV's discretion and not on a set amount of tournament results. So it must be like a judging panel or a job interview where a candidate's game conduct and a number of other factors unknown to the players or to the fans are taken into account.

While it's Gom's decision to remove Naniwa (and quite frankly I don't even have a problem with this)
Do not lie to this community Gom TV. MLG and GOM right until now had always acknowledged that a single Code S spot was available from Providence. Naniwa did indeed earn that Code S spot, your removal of it is just there is no reason to lie about it to this community.

Very nice statement, thanks for explaining.
And yea, a korean player would have had a lot more problems than Naniwa did.

Sincere, well written, and overall dealt with the situation the best they could. I did not like their decision to take Naniwa's seed, as I'm a Naniwa fan. However, I do understand they had the right to do it. They also stated that why the take these things so seriously. It's because during the 10 years of starcraft broodwar, they already developed a firm belief in what does it mean to be a "progamer", a belief that not all international players and fans share. It's a culture clash, but they explained their side really well, and I really appreciate that. Also, GSL is facing both Korean audience and international audience. With the amount of backlash from the Korean community AND the Korean Progamers, this punishment is probably already too light in their eyes(considering the Coca incident). So I guess they really hard no choice but to punish Naniwa.

This statement is also very nice, it's good to see the storm calming down now and everything slowly transitioning into a normal status again.
Bonus: Naniwa and Khaldor reading the GOM statement on Khaldors stream after the casted games are over:

Thank you very much for the clarification! I look forward to the 2012 season!

1) lol slandering naniwa live. making up stuff now?
2) Huk has a significantly larger fan base compared to Sen. Why didn't they give the spot to him?
3) lol

They obviously notified those at MLG or Slasher would not have tweeted that NaNi's code S spot was from MLG, and their intention was probably to disclose the information publicly at the conclusion of the blizzard cup but their hand was forced due to this incident.

Completely agree with these points, in particular GOM should apologise to Naniwa for slandering him live.

The only critisicm I see is that they should've told everybody that the exchange program ended. Would've saved the moderators of this forum much trouble.
Apart from that, I am both glad that gom holds sportsmanship in high esteem, and that Naniwa got a light sentence, if that even makes sense (that I am glad for both).

Better communication is needed in 2012 between GOM/MLG and any other affiliates involved. Everyone was 100% sure Naniwa had the Code S seed. GOM should have publicly corrected this "error" that everybody (including MLG) thought was true, a long time ago.
I don't agree with Naniwa's actions, but in my opinion, GOM is just as liable for not clarifying the fact he did not already have a guaranteed Code S seed, like every other MLG winner had received.

1. As far as I can tell from the other thread, there was no slandering. It was a bad translation. 2. Really? Please name some other pros with similar results or better that accepted the Code S invite? Hey, you see the key part in there? Accepted? 3. They were considering inviting him to Code S. They aren't anymore. If that's not a punishment for him, then I guess you shouldn't complain.
