Supposedly Sen is going to be Code S, though idk how reliable the tweet from Ethan Ahn is.

Ahh ok so it's official. Well, this GSL thing was fun while it lasted.

it will continue to be the best and most prestigious tournament of starcraft 2.

Yeah, for about a year tops until OGN shows them what's up.

Yep can't wait for KeSPA to get on this. Though honestly it's because the SC2 scene is too small in Korea rather than me wanting to see GOM get competed against; I like GOM and I want them to do well in the future.

Didn't Sc have a relapse of his condition that stopped him from playing before? If so, he's probably taking his spot.

Wow this is bs. If they take away nani's spot I wouldn't mind having IdrA taking his place since he was already gonna play the up/downs and he is a popular foreigner who is training in Korea and all that. But why in the flying fuck should Sen who lives and plays in Taiwan and has his focus on that league over there get a spot over someone in Code A? Are GOM playing the "more foreigner fans watching plus 2 more zergs in Code S"-card?

GL IdrA & Sen.

Agreed. Nice way to shit on all the superior players in code A just for the sake of more exposure. It is really disappointing.

If that is the direct quote, I am officially pissed off at GOM. I've stood by them and bought every single pass since the first GSL.

But I won't be buying anymore. And it's off to the pirates I go.

They could not have misinterpreted NaNiwa's attitude more. Prize money hunter? NaNiwa has made it very clear that he doesn't give one shit about prize money.

Are you stupid enough to believe that he doesn't give a shit about the Money? Come on, you can't be serious....

The man went from coL to Quantic just because he didn't like them.
Nani has a lot of pride stubbornness arrogance and motivation that separates him from the average man.

Well, for me it is the opposite: I will buy the year thing now. GOM shows that they are a professional organisation, and I really like that.

Gom giving out free code S without a competition
players like Hero/Puma/sase have to qualify while sen which has 0 acheivements at MLG or GSL gets in code S without a reason.
A small case can be made for Idra as he did well in MLG

And Naniwa which qualified and just due to a probe rush has lost his GSL spot... In the future no cannon rush/4gate/6pool can be done as it is inappropriate and has too low chance of winning?? WTF GOM...

Koreans take their SC as a very serious sport/entertainment. Nani pretty much spat in their face. We still view it differently cause its not as serious a sport to us yet. Different culters \(-.-)/

Sweet, still won't change the fact that this will be one of the stupidest thing i've seen done in E-sports yet. Other sc2 pros have done things much worse, and ironically enough Naniwa get's the worst treatment for not giving it his all in a game that didn't mean shit. at all.

Examples specifically in Korea?

Deliberate matchfixing between coca and byun, for example.

And they were punished by the teams. Another thing was that the partnership between ESL and GOM was not verified by GOM so GOM was not the authority in handing out the punishment before their teams.

WHAT THE F&$@&(*@! I'm glad that Idra got Code S but if they kicked Naniwa out for a meaningless game and something that isn't in the rules... They should kick out Nestea as well for that game against HuK and probably a ton of other players.

The Sen invite I question a little bit but I'm guessing they asked other players first. The IdrA invite completely makes sense to me. Whether you want to admit it or not he is one of the best foreign players and by being in Korea he could be the best. On top of that he left code S top 8 of GSL after Jan on really good terms so it makes sense to be invited back.

Totally agree with this, the Sen thing was totally out of the blue, kicking Nani out of the GSL because of the worker rush seems a tad harsh, but I guess i could understand it in the context of korean culture.

I have watched Sen in all the foreign tourneys and he is nothing impressive. Normal code A players like lucky are better.

Comparing Nestea vs HuK and Naniwa vs Nestea is ridiculous lol.

GOM kicking Naniwa might be the worst response to this possible. If his 'offense' wasn't covered in the rules then it's a matter for the team to take up; this makes all parties look unprofessional and hurts the scene even more =/ No way I'll be buying another ticket if it's true.

no, what Gom did was the perfect response and I applaud them for taking such action. Starcraft is a professional game and we don't need attitudes and disrespect from people like Naniwa.

Just be glad he's not banned for life, as he would if he pulled the same stunt in any Esport in Korea aka sc1

this is wildly ignorant

Why? Isn't it time for esports to get a professional image? Naniwa can come back when he can act like an adult, like a professional.

Obviously never watched a game of football or rugby.

So football and rugby players start consciously scoring own goals in "unimportant" matches in the group stages of large tournaments?

I'm fine with Naniwa getting banned for a season. That is a choice of Mr. Chae. Maybe too harsh, but at least it is line with other incidents where Rain and Choya both got banned.

I just don't get the Sen and Idra choices except THEY'RE POPULAR. WE WANT MORE TICKETS. PLEASE BUY. Haypro/Huk are more deserving for Naniwa's Providence spot. Higher ranked Koreans are more deserving for the extra invitation spot.

It just makes GSL look like they're desperate for cash/foreigners to watch.

Thats just it, GOMtv is a business. GSL desperate for cash? So is every other developing business. Sen is questionable but IdrA is deserving, its hard to argue otherwise.

Agreed on naniwa though, i dont mind that they banned him but its definitely really harsh.

The thing is with this move, GSL/Gom just proved they are a league that doesnt care about having the best players, they just want your money/viewers.

To all the people announcing you won't pay for GSL anymore: There are probably more viewers who were offended enough by what Nani did to say the same thing if he was still invited. It was probably a correct business decision. With that said, strict professionalism in BW (as ridiculous as it was) worked, I'm sure some discipline won't hurt the SC2 community.
If we fear what we do not understand, then why is ignorance bliss?
