Well, this GSL thing was fun while it lasted. it will continue to be the best and most prestigious tournament of starcraft 2.
Yeah, for about a year tops until OGN shows them what's up.

Well, I didn't like watching StarCraft at 4:30 AM anyways. Bye GOM.

But I won't be buying anymore. And it's off to the pirates I go. They could not have misinterpreted NaNiwa's attitude more. Prize money hunter? NaNiwa has made it very clear that he doesn't give one shit about prize money. Are you stupid enough to believe that he doesn't give a shit about the Money? Come on, you can't be serious....
To be honest, this is what i think also. There is no way he is playing this game at the level he is and with that dedication, without doing it for the money.
No matter what he has stated before.

Starcraft is a professional game and we don't need attitudes and disrespect from people like Naniwa. Just be glad he's not banned for life, as he would if he pulled the same stunt in any Esport in Korea aka sc1 this is wildly ignorant Why? Isn't it time for esports to get a professional image? Naniwa can come back when he can act like an adult, like a professional.
Obviously never watched a game of football or rugby.

GOM needs to step up their game otherwise they will never be seen as something even near OSL prestige when everyone included JD/Flash/Bisu have to earn their spots not given out on silver plate because they are "popular". It may sound like Korean Esports is really in a bad spot right now, if they have to turn their backs on equality/fairness and promote popularity.

He is not in code S, multiple tweets and one from Mr.chae himself. It is confirmed.

It's sad for naniwa as he is probably the one who would really give everything to get his seeding back...
On the other hand, even if this particular thing he did may or may not have been enough to tip the scales, his general attitude towards opponents, spectators, management is just not what it should be. Maybe this will change his ways, but looking back at previous events I feel like the odds aren't that great.
|
Naniwa broke no rules so taking away his Code S spot would be really unprofessional.
|
So unbelievably disappointed with Mr. Chae and Gom.
|
this is great! goodluck idra. I hope you can work hard and earn youre spot as a top foreigner
|
How is calling Naniwa an "amateur prize money hunter" professional?
|
I'm out GOM, this was just stupid.
Nani, I'm terribly disappointed in you for not being more professional.
I'd preferred if IdrA/Sen qualified rightfully but I understand them accepting, GL to both of you!

I just don't get the Sen and Idra choices except THEY'RE POPULAR. WE WANT MORE TICKETS. PLEASE BUY. Haypro/Huk are more deserving for Naniwa's Providence spot. Higher ranked Koreans are more deserving for the extra invitation spot.
It just makes GSL look like they're desperate for cash/foreigners to watch. Are you serious? You've said the same thing like 10 times in this thread alone. Stop spamming with the same nonsense. We get it.

Yes their popularity is ONE good reason for an invite but there is plenty more. Idra previously being apart of Code S, in Korea at the moment for the up and downs and maybe due to time constraints a mini tournament was not plausible?
Keep posting with that one track mind thou

Sweet, still won't change the fact that this will be one of the stupidest thing i've seen done in E-sports yet. Other sc2 pros have done things much worse, and ironically enough Naniwa get's the worst treatment for not giving it his all in a game that didn't mean shit. at all. Examples specifically in Korea? Deliberate matchfixing between coca and byun, for example.

A better punishment would have been to just switch Idra and Naniwa in their GSL spots for January imo.

Naniwa can come back when he can act like an adult, like a professional. LOL, i'm guessing you've never seen any professional sport, because i can name literally thousands of professional athletes that make millions that act significantly worse than Nani did. I can tell you that very few professionals throw their game like Nani did. I can think of a few and guess what they all got severely punished. You cant throw a game like that in a professional environment.
He did a shitty strategy in a game that didn't mean shit. It's like someone being pissed that someone did try their hardest in a scrimmage after the season was over. It's like people getting mad that the NFL decides to play their 2nd or 3rd string players in the pre-season. It's obnoxious, one sided, and completely devoid of any thought. If they had any thought you'd think people would realize that Gom has let koreans get away with borderline match fixing and straight up cheating, but god forbid someone goes and doesn't try their hardest in a game that means nothing.

Rain got banned for basically screwing the whole scheduling and group thing in a GSL by just leaving without giving a notice in a reasonable time. Choya did get banned for the GSTL, yes, but that doesn't mean nearly as much as losing your code s spot for a season. And It's not even given that he gets his code S spot back. If you try to cheat/exploit the system to get into the GSL like Choya did, you basically have to apologize and eveything is fine. If you matchfix in games that actually matters for GSL, you get a "temp ban" by your team, not by the league. And if you proberush in a game that had no other purpose than to take place in a tournament not directly related to the GSL, you lose your whole progress in the GSL and get punished by the league in the hardest way possible
Sorry GOMTV, as much as I respect you, but I think you made the wrong decision. @Bolded part: Choya was actually banned from the first GSTL, after his ladder shenanigans. And in addition, for the 100000000th time: there was NO! Code A spot in the ESV tournament in that month. So it actually didn't matter for GSL.. It was still a meaningful game for the tournament and nothing like both 0-4 and duking it out for the 4th/3rd place, and even though there was no code a spot there was still money on the line iirc. Yeah.. but it had nothing to do with GSL, as you had stated. Right, I've forgotten that.
rain didn't screw anything. he just didn't show up. that had no effect on the schedule. they proceeded as usual.

T/N : When GOM announced the new format of GSL tour 2012. They planned out total 2 seeds to Code S and 2 seeds to Code A. Two seeds are sponsor seeds which are given to Idra and Sen. Two seeds are up/down seeds that will be given out to top performing non-Korea players. Therefore Idra and Sen did not suddenly get in that Naniwa's punishment is a separate issue.

Actually unless I am mistaken if you are top 8? You get seeded directly into the next OSL. I could be wrong but I remember jaedong not having to qualify for an OSL (might have been MSL) for a long time due to how far he made it each time.
