However if there was no rule it would be "unprofessional" for GOMTV themselves to ban Naniwa on the spot like that instead of giving a warning. And it would be even more unprofessional to ban the player and then replace him by handing out some random invites for the spots players are supposed to qualify for.

Not giving someone their hard earned Code S spot because you don't like him has no place in professional competition...I really hope there is some sort of uproar and GOM reverts their action. Not likely, Koreans obviously hold their players up to a higher standard than can be comprehended by foreigners. It is their country, their league.

I agree with giving Naniwa a warning or a technical foul (reducing prize money or sth else). But disqualification for a thing which isn't even covered in the rules... no way.

Acting like a professional and having the title of professional are different. I'm surprised by the number of people who don't understand that. It's not hard. Besides, this thread isn't about Naniwa. There are already enough threads for that whole debacle. This is about IdrA getting Code S. Personally I believe he thoroughly deserves it.

Choya was only banned for the GSTL1, way back, you are thinking of Rain that was suspended for 3 seasons for dropping out of code S on the day of group selections itself. On topic, Naniwa deserved it as far as I am concerned. I'm just disappointed that code S slots are handed out for something that is not at least due to tournament results/partnerships like that. It sort of devalues the value of being a code S player.

They are using Naniwa as an example to set a precedent for future pros. I am sure there will be some clause or aspect in the 2012 sign-ups/contract things, that more or less highlight sportsmanship as a factor in maintaining competitive status.

Being a progamer in Korea carries a different set of values and professionalism since Brood War. Thus although the rule may not be state explicitly, they demanded a certain conduct from progamers in Korea in a major tournament.

It's lose-lose situation either way. IMO this is very good comment about the situation. "No, this is common for Korea culture. They take respect and pride as much as Japanese. If they don't do this, there is no way they can explain to Korean audiences."

People have the right to disagree, saying "GOM can enforce their rules however they please, give me a break" as the person I responded to is idiotic. Just because you have a rule doesn't mean you can't express your opinion about a ruling.

I can tell you that very few professionals throw their game like Nani did. I can think of a few and guess what they all got severely punished. You cant throw a game like that in a professional environment.

Sweet, still won't change the fact that this will be one of the stupidest thing i've seen done in E-sports yet. Other sc2 pros have done things much worse, and ironically enough Naniwa get's the worst treatment for not giving it his all in a game that didn't mean shit. at all.
