Please discuss IdrA and Sen in Code S January in this thread. |

They should kick out Nestea as well for that game against HuK and probably a ton of other players. Comparing Nestea vs HuK and Naniwa vs Nestea is ridiculous lol.
Pretty much the opposite:
Nestea played silly to please the crowd. Nani played silly to get the fuck out of there.

if there is a specific rule stating that "you can not probe rush" in a game, i can accept it. otherwise, gomtv can f*** off.

"On Korean stream of GSL right now, Mr.Chae has announced that they made Code S seeds for a professional minded pro-gamer not for an amateur prize money hunter. It is official that Naniwa is given a punishment. " Ahh ok so it's official. Well, this GSL thing was fun while it lasted. it will continue to be the best and most prestigious tournament of starcraft 2. Without question. I won't tolerate their authoritarian attitude however. Good luck to them. Now i just need more Koreans to start streaming, especially Leenock. Also KSL is pretty awesome viewing.
It's their league, they can do whatever they want with it and owe no obligation.
HOWEVER, with that being said, I don't like this decision AT ALL.
If they want to take the hardcore approach, ban Naniwa, I don't feel like they should, but it's definitely reasonable and they have the rights to do it.
But just handing out his Code S spots to Idra and Sen......they are good players, but I can't help but to feel they are just trying to capture foreign audience in a cheap way with this move.
It all makes sense: Huk is out of Code S at least for now, and they need some foreigners to fill the void so foreigners will watch the games. It used to be Naniwa, but now with him gone they need someone, and they pick Idra.
It's a cheap move, I LOVE Idra being in Code S. But its not fair at all.

That's a bold claim to say that they invited Idra and Sen due to popularity. Do you work for GOM? How are you so sure that's the reason?

That is a choice of Mr. Chae. Maybe too harsh, but at least it is line with other incidents where Rain and Choya both got banned.
I just don't get the Sen and Idra choices except THEY'RE POPULAR. WE WANT MORE TICKETS. PLEASE BUY. Haypro/Huk are more deserving for Naniwa's Providence spot. Higher ranked Koreans are more deserving for the extra invitation spot.
It just makes GSL look like they're desperate for cash/foreigners to watch. Thats just it, GOMtv is a business. GSL desperate for cash? So is every other developing business. Sen is questionable but IdrA is deserving, its hard to argue otherwise. Agreed on naniwa though, i dont mind that they banned him but its definitely really harsh. The thing is with this move, GSL/Gom just proved they are a league that doesnt care about having the best players, they just want your money/viewers.
Trash response from you. Can you honestly say with a straight face that IdrA is deserving?

I think technically, GOM has the right to ban Naniwa.
From the original GSL thread

Eligibility
- You must be at least 12 years old. - You must have your own Battle.net account. - You must fill out the registration form on the website. - You must be able to participate in the offline preliminaries. - GomTV can deny your participation if you are found unfit to be a gamer.
So i guess GOM has deemed someone who do not give their best in all games to be unfit to be a gamer. This is also the rule that prevent Saviour and co from joining GSL.
And non-meaningful games exists all the time in many competitions. Last weeks of NBA , NFL, EPL, MLB regular seasons? Between teams who cannot go to playoffs, who can't qualify for European Leagues but too high to get relegated?
You don't see the 12th and 13th team in the EPL who met during the last week stage a mass afternoon nap session in the field don't you? They still play for the fans. Of course they can save/rest their players and try less hard. But they still show up and present some semblance of a game to their fans and to respect the competition.

I dont see the issue, Koreans get invites to foreigner tournies, and get seeded automatically really high, all the time. Idra and Sen are two of the best foreigners we have, they deserve a spot in Code S just like any Korean deserves a high seeded spot in some foreigner tournies
Nani getting kicked out is a totally different thing... Im not sure where i stand on it

Not sure how I feel about this. Watch too much SC2 anyways, maybe I'll cut back on Gom for a bit >.> Way too harsh on Nani.

They planned out total 2 seeds to Code S and 2 seeds to Code A. Two seeds are sponsor seeds which are given to Idra and Sen. Two seeds are up/down seeds that will be given out to top performing non-Korea players. Therefore Idra and Sen did not suddenly get in that Naniwa's punishment is a separate[ issue. WTF? What does that mean? Most paying team or player with a lot of fans get a spot?
IdrA and Sen has huge fanbases, so not suprisingly.

Well a part of me can understand it since Idra never really lost his Code S spot, but rather gave it away. Still it seems a bit disrespectful to some of the more deserving (korean) players.

I said almost same thing few months ago when like 5 foreigns were invited to code A, and they all get destroyed in 1st round so I guess there is some justice, and tbh I dont see Idra doing well in code S.
About possible Naniwa ban: I think he should be punished, but how big punishment should be I don't know, He needs to learn a lesson, thousand people watching, huge companies sponsoring players and events, its not a place to act like an unmature emotionally unstable badmanner and throw games even if they dont count. Hes already banned from ESL, he should also be banned from MLG since he trashtalk them on stage. Maybe he will learn to to think before act, or as I predicted months ago he will have no team that will want to sign with him, and he will have no big tournaments that will allow him to play. He could get a fine or something, maybe -_-

Why Sen? I...don't...get it. Why does Sen get the spot? Yes, he got third at NASL and Blizzcon. Why not, you know, Puma, the guy who WON NASL? Why not a top ranking Korean like Nada or Polt? Why not the guy who was behind Naniwa at Providence in Huk or Haypro? Because it has to do with money and not the actual skill level of the players. The seeds have never gone to any Koreans because Gom wants to sell more season tickets. During NASL, the # of viewers super spiked during Sen's games. Sen is worth more money than Puma in terms of viewers MMA got code S from MLG Anaheim IIRC? MC got Code S from MLG Orlando.
HerO or Puma would be good seeds given DH and NASL.

Congrats to Idra!! Looking forward to seeing him play next season.

Wait, there are two sponsored seeds...?
But the rest are filled by Up-and-Down/Code A/Top eight Code S. The two seeds were for MLG + Player whoever fit their criteria.
So who gets Naniwa's spot then?

Wow good job finding this particular quote. It basically justifies their decision in term of Korean values for progamers' conducts and should be put in their website's rule.

How much money did GOM possibly lose from having one of the most anticipated match-ups of the night get sabotaged by one of the players? What if Flash versus Jaedong came-up, and Flash basically quit and left. There is a kind of unspoken symbiosis where high level players do their best consistently in a tournament for a chance to earn some cash and in exchange the tournament can broadcast their play to try and make some money for themselves. By throwing a game, you directly attack the basic business strategy of GOMTV.
At least make it interesting for the viewers. But just throwing it away not only hurts the players reputation, it hurts the tournaments reputation as well. If viewers can't trust GOM to be able to provide entertaining content on a regular basis, they are going to look elsewhere. GOM can't allow this behavior to spread, plain and simple.

sorry but this is a fucking joke, he didn't break any rules. fuck you gom.

A suspension was definitely the right choice. People are saying IdrA forfeits meaningless games regularly but I can never see him doing it for a planned BROADCASTED grudge match. Seeing as its broadcasted it matters to all the viewers and makes GOM look bad. 100% standing behind GOM on this one.

Whaaaaat? Sponsor seeds?! What the fuck?? So EG have bought their way into Code S? :D Wooow wow wow
