People in this thead need to relax.
Who you think is the best player in the world is subjective, and this guy made a post on why he thinks Stephano is the best in the world. It's an opinion, hes not stating it like it's a damn fact.

Hi Stephano, is this your alias?

I remember NEXexcrement being at the top of the korean ladder for some time before. But I haven't heard of him since.
Anyway , I disagree with you . You become the best player by showing that in your games by showing your game sense , micro , macro , decision making and overall skill.
That's why people think idra , mvp , nestea , MMA , huk are great . Same reason why people used to think MC was very gimmicky during his reign , he had a style nobody was used to and kept winning sorta like stephano.
and from what i've seen , stephano still looks like a 2nd tier zerg.
Edit : I'm uninformed about nexexcrement , forget what I said about him then. But yeah , he still isn't showing that he's the best in the world from being top of KR ladder

he is soo clam when playing. i bet that helps alot
not clam calm

NEXexcrement is the former ID of Byun, who is now playing on the id Makaprime and is #1 on the Korean server right now.

Well, I'd say that just proves his point anyway. Who thinks Byun is the best player in the world?

actually byun (formerly excrement) is now ghostking prime but i do believe his is banned from all pro matches from some time given the incident with coca. Maka is some1 completely different who has been using the same name since beta

I agree with what you're saying. Stephano is definitely above every other player in many ways. The thing I find fascinating with this whole stephano -case is that we often emphasize heavily on how important mechanics are, and hell yes they are very important. But in my eyes Stephano is a great example that when you reach that certain level of mechanics to keep you in GM, other things become so much more important.
I dont know for a fact, but I would most certainly think that Stephano is a very clever guy. I know some people like him: able to make good decisions fast, able to see the whole picture etc etc. Many players are very crisp with their mechanics, micro, macro and all the things that are required to play *perfectly*. IdrA for example. He has played the game for so long, he truly masters many parts of the game, especially mechanics. But still, he has not received the same results within sc2 as stephano has, and you can look at the hours that these gentlemen spend playing. Stephano is able to think so well his strategies and builds that its just much more above IdrA for example. I'm not saying idra cant take games off him, of course he can, but stephano has this higher understanding and more open way to look at the game and play it so damn well.

It might be that GSL isnt ready for stephano, not the other way around...

I guess it's interesting that these types of threads are allowed, they don't make me too angry.
On topic: Sensationalist title. The best SC2 player in the world? No. People can distinguish themselves in the scene as really good, and if they do it a lot, they are the best player and no one wants to play them. Basically, IMMvp. Stephano does not have the empirical data to back himself up, I suppose the Blizzard cup will be the showing of this.
He's good, don't get me wrong. But there are the old favorites like Mvp and nestea, and the new favorites like jakkji and leenock, who all are super scary. I just can't get the impression that Stephano has their reputation.

Yeah he did. The name of the god damn thread is "Why Stephano is the best player in the world" Of course he is just a bad troll but still.

This happened a lot in BW, someone who is not particularly good has a strange style and becomes very successful for a very short period of time. Stephano is good (definitely not the best in the world) but he's at his peak unless he severely steps up his game and his practice regime.

Nobody is confused about this you know. Everybody knows it is just this guys opinion. Pointing it out does not make make you clever, it makes you a bit of a cunt.

I think that statement holds more weight than Stephano being the best player.
Stephano is 8-3 vs Tails ! He's the best player in the world therby. Right ? Right ?

Hm, how interesting. I guess he was arbitrary born with high IQ (or whatever the attributes for being good at SC2 would be, dunno.) Maybe no matter how hard and long HuK, IdrA, Kas and many other practices, they will never beat him anyway. Well atleast he only practices for a few hours a day, so they can actually beat him with his current practice schedule. It's possible, but who knows. At anyrate how undeserving and boring that would be... I don't believe what I wrote but it's very interesting! Hope to see people discuss this in the thread. IQ isnt the deciding factor. OT: He's a great player no doubt but not the best in the world
Thats why i said what i said in the "( ... )".

Heh, whats with all this talk about whos the best player in the world? First people say ForGG, then stephano and sometime before that people were saying MVP. Sheer skill > Statistics that is what determines who is the best player in the world. With that being said, it could be some Korean GM no one has ever heard about who is actually the best player in the world. Just sayin Granted, statistics represent the accomplishments of someone but for this example I will be using Naniwa. Naniwa didnt have great accomplishments because he was practicing for the longest time, skipping out on tournaments. Then in MLG Providence, he makes it to second place. No one expected that because his statistics didnt support that he was good. So yeah, there is no definite greatest player in the world. Unlike SC1, where Flash dominated
