1. People always mention the IPL but he also has won the ESWC and UK IPL 4 regional qualifier. Bringing his 2 month earnings total to +50K. He also won a couple smaller tournaments (some MSI Cup where he 3-1'd Thorzain in the finals). He's had some hiccups as well, playing poorly at Dreamhack and in the NASL qualifiers. His run over the past two months is better than anything any foreigner has done, full stop. As everyone knows, no one plays well all of the time in every tournament, not Nestea, not MVP, etc. Stephano has accomplished all of this, it beats noting, not having trained in Korea. Now that he's in Korea, the sky would appear to be the limit -- which brings me to the next point. 2. Stephano is top 30 on the Korean ladder. Everyone knows that ladder isn't the end all or be all, doesn't mean shit, etc. Nevertheless, his win % on the KR server (72%) is 11th best (2d best for a zerg) and is about what it was on the European server (74% -- I'm guessing it's so "low" on the EU server because of an increasing amount of stream cheating since he's becoming better known). In any case, Stephano's mechanics and multitasking are unreal. Without spines he was able to basically shut down Makaprime's drops for forty minutes. His play showed some holes (e.g., where was the counter offense for one? He failed to keep or even to try to keep Maka on 3 bases, which it seems like you almost have to do if you're playing mass melee)). As a point of comparison, Huk's, Thorzain's and Select's win % on the KR server after a comparable number of games were hovering in the low 50s. At the very least, his success on the KR server demonstrates that his defense against cheese is amazing, which is something most of us already knew. 3. Stephano's run on the EU ladder (64 of 65 games at GM) is amazing however you slice it, especially coupled with his recent success in large LAN tournaments. That feat (which is well chronicled in these fora) is evidence of some sort of genius IMO. I also think that Stephano, among the entire universe of Zerg's, probably has the most upside (or untapped "talent") along with Leenock. Stephano just graduated high school, doesn't play on an elite team and only now just started training in Korea, yet his run over the past two months, as noted above, is the best of any foreign player. Anyone who can defend the insane drop harass you see on the KR ladder with just ling-infestor-ultra has crazy multitask ability and concentration. His decision making for when and where to engage and his micro in those battles is generally world class as well (although he like all zergs also loses a lot of engagements). All of his units are usually in the fight and he's able to target down the units he needs to. I think Leenock has the best micro and battle decision making in the world (and thus is better at these things than Stephano). However, I'll note that I actually think Stephano is more cost efficient with his units than Nestea is (at least lately -- Nestea has looked increasingly mortal) and probably DRG, Coca and almost certainly Losira. I'm looking forward to the Blizzard Cup. Stephano could do well or he could lose in group stages (as could anyone who doesn't play Terran).

And to say that before Blizzard cup will just make you look like idiot if he doesn't pass the groupstage (wich is verry probable) Yup, his fanboys are the main reason why I'm not a stephano fan and it's very hard to like him.

Winning the MLG Global Invitational and coming second at Providence... beating the two best players in the world MVP and Nestea. I reckon Stephano and Naniwa are in the Top 2/3 foreigner spots

Too much biased fanboyism in this thread, also those players you mentioned are in the twilight of their career, it's stupid and disrespectful to talk down on their SC2 career so far. They've done more than enough in a harder, older game. Why did you even need to mention them at all when they don't even have to play SC2 anymore other than for their passion of RTS gaming? How does this even relate to Stephano's own ability when he has nothing to do with them? Stephano is good but your are just hyping shit up when he hasn't even starting playing in the GSL yet. There are a good number of players with great potential to be the very best without their own hype thread, threads like this is just troll bait when he ends up not winning.

I think what OP is saying is that he thinks Stephano is the most talented player. And most talented != "best".

I'd say that MCs zerg is probably better than machine.......

Come on dude he's obviously trolling...no one with enough brain cells to use a keyboard would actually think destiny and spanishiwa are top 10 zergs in the world.
