Didn't bother to read thorugh whole thread, but I think that Stephano dominated IPL because he was unknown. Not because he is the best player in the world, but because noone had seen his style before. Same with Destiny, long ago he DOMINATED Bomber because Destiny's style was so new at the time. Best player: MVP Best foreigner: Naniwa (could be discussed, unless everyone only said: OMG FUKKING NANI SWITCHING TEAM THAT MEANS HE MUST BE BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111!!!!!11) or mayby HuK. Best up-and-coming: fOrGG/Fin (fOrGG)

Who you think is the best player in the world is subjective, and this guy made a post on why he thinks Stephano is the best in the world. It's an opinion, hes not stating it like it's a damn fact. Everybody knows it is just this guys opinion. Pointing it out does not make make you clever, it makes you a bit of a cunt. How does pointing it out make me a bit of a cunt? You're telling me absolutely nobody in this thread is actually defending the OPs claims? Read through again buddy.
I don't understand TL logic sometimes...

Why Stephano is the Best SC2 Player in the World
Potential to be the best =/= being the best. You're going too far.
Stephano has more talent than anyone in the world.
There is no way to measure "talent" you're just going wild there.
I just saw him completely shut down crazy banshees and blue flame from ForGG or OgsFin yesterday.
And i saw him lose macro games vs Sage on metalopolis and then another one on Tal'darim, possibly best ZvP maps on ladder. It doesn't mean anything. He's very good but that's it. Build him a shrine if you want, but calm down with those crazy claims and making threads just to inflict your opinion on everyone because you're excited like little girl.

Waaah im so sick and tired of all this " the best player in the world" or "the most accomplished foreigner" crap. I don't care who the best is, and honestly can we really judge after 17 months of SC2? No we can't. There hasn't been any real bonjwa like in Broodwar because the game is still so young and new players come up with new strategies all the time, resulting in occasional upsets. I'm not saying that Stephano is not good, he's been on a roll recently and a damn good player but let's see about that statement in 6 months, 1 year, 4 years and then we can judge if he really is/was the best. The absolute best always dominate their period of awesomeness, and Stephano's has been way to short to give him that title.
P.S.: I still can't get that Power Rangers: Pink BS out of my head when i hear his name

This kind of posts makes him to ba hated :'( Seriously the best player in the world at the moment is MVP, Stephano is great, maybe the best foreigner, maybe the player with the best potential but he isn't the best player in the world, this is false ! And to say that before Blizzard cup will just make you look like idiot if he doesn't pass the groupstage (wich is verry probable)

Oh, I'm pretty sure ForGG has been messing around on ladder, so I wouldn't take Stephano's wins against ForGG on ladder too seriously. ForGG was just doing a weird mech style for a lot of games against zergs.
|
I'm pretty sure if he keeps this up he can become a bonjwa. How many ladder wins in a row to become bonjwa?

I believe this is a troll thread.

He has moved to Korea with the Ogs house and has been dominating. In around 100 games Stephano reaches top 35 on the Korean ladder. Source?

watch his stream oO
he is top 30 with 73% winrate @ GM, 82-30 stats last time i checked. His account is "DreAm", probably burrowed from the Chinese player DreAm living in the UK now.
Took him 4 days

Really dissapointed this kind of thread is being allowed to stay up

I have nothing against Stephano, I like watching him play, and he's pretty good.
But he's not the best. So your entire topic falls flat just from your title. Maybe if he gets a couple GSL's in a row and doesn't drop a game you can say that. Or after a year of dominance like MVP.
Not 1 or 2 tournament wins, even if they were maybe big ones. They weren't the biggest.
If this is just a troll thread, I feel a little silly responding.

(he 4-0d idra with this style and only lost to stephano and 1 other zerg with it)

still: this thread is so wrong :/ it just forces the haters to hate more, the lovers to love more and the realists to be more ashamed

To be honest when I read the thread title I expected a photo of him as the pink power ranger or something, not a serious discussion.
Back on topic, I disagree. He's good, but he hasn't shown enough results to win him this title. Yes, IPL3 was a major success, but other players have had even greater and more consistent success.
|
let him start winning some major shit then we'll see. big wall of text..
|
It's sad that these threads are allowed just on the merit that the OP typed 15 paragraphs, like it's good content or something :|
