That's why SC2 players get paid a monster salary like FlaSh and Jaedong do right?

That's why low grade BW pros would love to switch over to SC2 to make good money whereas elite pros like Flash, Jaedong, and Bisu would rather stick to BW.

Not necessary. If big companies switch from BW to SC2 as well, then salaries for them would be the same.

when its confirmed that Flash is really practicing sc2.
i will skip school, call in sick to work, and cancel all plans i made just to make sure i dont miss his first televised match for sc2. im very interested to see how his games would go.

Stop talking about Flash and Jaedong salaries.
A lot of the progamers in Korea are slaves. At least, from our occidental point of view, they are.

I can't beleive how many haters from BW scene are crying here. Just accept it that sc2 is more popular! BW is a great game but now it's SC2 time! I just can't wait to see best BW players to play SC2 :D. And I don't think those best BW pros will dominate the scene.

Personally, I'm very excited to see how the BW pros will do in SC2, if they make the switch.

On average SC2 "progamers" don't have any salaries. Only the very top. And even most Korean teams can barely afford food. ;/

The first "star" of sc2, Huk, has a contract estimated of about 100k/year (I'll add like 50k more for all the travelling as a gross estimation as he travels about 2 times a months in various countries). It's not the 400k of Flash, but it's still enormous for such an early time.

Well incontrol isn't a very good example because he gets paid for his image and personality. Don't get me wrong incontrol is a pretty good player but just not at an extremely high level at the moment right now.

Ok I am really confused and sad and a little hopeful all at the same time. I am sad because I know BW is probably over in Korea and will cease to exist on a professional level which means JD and Flash are switching (my two favorites). I am confused because didn't Kespa announce the coexistence of SC2 and BW in a previous Fomos article?
Hopefully only the B teams switch so we can have an awesome SC2 proleague as well as the classic this coming season. fingers and toes crossed

Until teams man up and start releasing the details of contracts like every other respectable sport in the world all the speculation about what SC2 pro's make amount to nothing.
What we do know is that Korean SC2 professional players don't make shit because major sponsorships are still allied with KeSPA and BW because BW is the dominant game among viewers.

I'm quite sure Jaedong was making somewhere between 150K-200K. It was about the same contract as Bisu but less than Flash's previous contract.

The difference he was refering to is that the sponsors for sc2 are all niche, gaming related/nerdy-pc related comapanies, which sell all their products to gamers (arguably monster fits in that as well.) On the other hand, broodwar sponsors are mainstream, large companies. You can't really say that sc2 has the same "mainstream sponsorships" (which, as mainstream companies want to sponsor it, shows that the companies believe it is watched by lots of "non gamers") until it is also sponsored by things like mobilephone carriers.
