This thread is pointless and short-sighted. People should please stop bumping this. Give the game time, and calm down. Everyone whines every patch and how the balance changes don't change the game or change the game too much.

Well I only read the OP - but your'e completely and totally right. A flank is funner than sheer medivac power. Storm is funner than fungal even though fungal is more powerful - it can be dodged. The added uncertainty of how good a storm will be is far more entertaining to the spectator. And even that isn't as cool as sheer out-maneuvering an opponent. Frankly, I feel like HOTS is going to create a mini-slump in SC2 e-sports.

haha i actually thought someone made this thread again, but then i saw it was just a necro with no funny wall of text to read. Anyway agree a bit on the patch aiming for spectating rather then gameplay, as the balance isn't really affected by the patch, but some turtle styles are being removed, or given a new way to not turtle.

Guys lets just rage at blizzard cuz they added unit clumping into the game.
While the Thor and the replicent are wierd units, they said that they dont expect the thor to be used in compedetive play
and the replicent can actully find its place, gona be really hard to balance though.

Now lets all rage aboute clumping and the viper cloud being to small and lasting 2 seconds.

You don't understand what he is talking about, he is not saying that the replicant will be OP or UP, he is saying that the design of the unit is just retarded.
Life has won two GSLs and a Blizzard Cup. NOT three GSLs.

Totally agree with TT1

I don't like how the game is developing and I don't like at all how Protoss is gonna look in HOTS. I think the Blizzard crew really needs to read the last paragraph and take immediate changes on the Protoss in HOTS

Also, I just wanted to briefly talk about the new protoss units in HOTS. It feels like each unit that we're getting is extremely role oriented as opposed to the new units from other races. For example, the viper/swarm host are good all-around units which are going to work well vs almost any unit compo. The same can be said for the terran units to an extent; the t/z army mixes are going to be vastly different from the ones that we've been seeing in WoL, but are the protoss army compositions going to be any different? The tempest is an extremely role-oriented unit (that is extremely expensive and supply heavy as well) which will only be made if a zerg goes for a heavy muta composition or lategame broodlords. The oracle is a harasser and the replicant is a horribly designed unit that I don't want to comment upon further. I promise you that a huge majority protoss users are still gonna stick to their gate unit/colo army comps. =/ Our unit variety seriously sucks.

Siege tanks did FULL damage against shields in BW, so until the shields were gone, thats 100% damage per shot.

You miss mines more then anything but Siege tanks did more then 35 damage to zealots before shields

Yeah I think the points in the OP are invalid. Like post 1 said. Your putting words in blizzards mouth. They didn't say "oh we added replicant to stop 1-1-1." and 1-1-1 isn't even that good of a build anymore. I personally think the replicant is gonna be awesome. And I can't wait until the Zerg are complaining to nerf fungal growth because it's too OP when Protoss uses it against them. Mwuhahahahaha!!!

Replicate is fine way to hold 1/1/1. If you give toss too early aoe unit instead to hold 1/1/1 combined with FF they will just roll zerg every game who relies on weak melee speedlings early. This address 1/1/1 without breaking game and will allow for shorter maps again too. I don't see any imbalances either by SCV and massive being off limits to replicate. There is nothing Zerg has worth replicating compared to Protoss units which are strong but expensive. Only the Tank and maybe banshee is worth it in PvT since again Protoss units are expensive and good. 1/1/1's issue is no early AOE, that's why it does not work vs zerg and banes but works great against toss. Giving them a tank in that one matchup takes care of that bit of cheese.
