But lets not get ahead of ourselves, it most likely won´t be 1 unit our per unit in. Only one I see being replaced based on this are overseer, Thors and Mammaship/Carriers


If true, then evens it out, unless people actually considered overseers a fun unit. Zerg loses 1 crappy unit and gets 2 really good ones. Terran loses a really good, if boring, unit in exchange for 3 and Protoss air is basically revamped to something that hopefully works, plus they get those bot thingies. Net gain is 2-"0" for overseer for Z, 3-1 for T, and 3-2 for P, and protoss already had the most units.

Frankly, I always felt Zerg had ridiculously terrible mobile detection, seeing how overseers don't do anything in a battle if they're near your army for detection, unless you happen to be fighting by production facilities. Even then, gooping buildings was pretty uninteresting and judging from how often it's used, not worth the overseer or APM cost.

Imo, it looks like they went a bit less for "Cool" abilities and opted for "good" instead, while letting the artists let the units take care of "cool."

I hope that's not all the units, would make me kinda sad if Z gets less than the other 2 in the Z expansion when Z already has the least ammount of actual units. :/ Still look pretty awesome though and I can't wait to see those units in action.

They need to redesign the look of the Replicant. It looks exactly like the WoL science vessel model and that is just pretty stupid. Overall most units sound interesting on paper but I'll have to see how they play out in game. I'm disappointed with the terran units though. Who would want a slower hellion? that makes no sense for a harassment unit. The Warhound sounds exactly like the Thor. I'd prefer if these just removed both units entirely and added the Goliath.

They really need to consider removing units though. Give me units that have more utility than just a-moving. Derp units like the roach, marauder and colossus have to go.

Once again I'm impressed by Blizzard's creativity here. Some of this stuff might just turn out to be cutesy/useless in practice (specifically thinking of the oracle and replicant) but they definitely deserve credit for trying to push the envelope.

Feels like Blizzard designed these units based more on their "theme" for the races rather than actual need, barring Protoss. I'm really excited for them; their harassment and numbers (meaning the available units on field) needed some work, and they got what they needed here. Terran replacements seem.. underwhelming, although granted they have a wide variety of options as is. I'm concerned the zerg units will just be more gas-intensive, late tier units, which the zerg don't need. They've already got strong late game and instead need help with scouting (somewhat mitigated w/ overseer fix), anti-caster, and general anti-air (especially early game, though this Viper might be a fabulous anti-air unit for later in the game).

you mean you hope the marauder is gone. what reason would there be for it to be gone?

Given the marine's strength against anything on the ground, I can see the battle-hellion replacing the marauder as the armored ground unit.

Tempest sounds lie a Carrier replacement. Two capital ships? Doubt it....

Same with Warhound and Thor. Two mech-aoe-anti-air units? Likely not.

Nice!

I'm really looking forward to see how these units will effect the game, especially the Protoss units, but that's probably because i play 'toss. The Oracle intriques me most... I really hope it will be possible to make them in the early/early-mid game.

The warhound looks a but funky to me, because of it's height compare to it's width. But it's good that it can't be repaired by an infinite number of SCVs.

Lastly i want to comment on the Shredder... i guess the dev/design team really like tripods (or quadpods). Terran was lacking a tripod. HotS will finally fix this major problem.

Shredder is clearly a controllable spider mine dropped from a Raven with the same fancy "try not to kill friendlies" stuff as tanks.

Yes. Honestly I think that the only-1-of-unit at a time thing was a pretty bad idea.

Its interesting how its traps (whatever they may be, bombs, banana peels) wont work if friendly units are close or at the zone where the traps are. That will make it pretty micro intensive
