We are currently talking about this issue in the mod forum. We take this issue very seriously, and want to find the best way to serve those who want faster results, and those that don't wish to be spoiled.

Unless you want to blogg, watch streams communicate with other people or know what is happening in the community in general that doesn't relate to tournaments or even SC2 or if you are working on TL.Net or that streaming is as a part of your income and the billion other things that TL.net does for people.

There are direct links to getting to those things if you want to do that, you still don't necessarily have to bypass the main page. And besides, if you decide to do anything with that sort, the risk of getting spoiled is always there.

Despite the time zone differential, if there's big news, especially in terms of tournament wins, then it should be broadcast on the front page. Maybe if you were to put it with a vague headline if necessary, but still, news is news.

The problem is TL "news" isn't just a big picture of the winner with a few lines a thread. TL "news" is completely different than that of traditional news sites and it's split up between Featured & Community. Featured News involves in depth writeups which take time to complete, and considering most of it is written by pure volunteers, community members like you and I, there's no rush to it. Community News is, yet again, also different than what posters here are asking for. It involves breaking events, interviews, and so forth from the Starcraft community, not results of tournaments. IF TL were to add anything to the "front page" as it were, it'd have to be toggle-able to cater to both groups of people and probably be limited to just tournament results, which has always only been one click away from every single page in the first place.

Unless TL decides to significantly change the way it's front page works, and actually hire people to constantly write quick winner announcement articles ASAP, you're not going to get an espn style, gosugamers style, esfi style front page. TLPro is a special case because it's the actual TL team and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a hired writer or two for that.

Problem is easily solved, on the front page there is a "News Spoiler Filter" where you can hit a little button and it will unlock all content that is flagged as "spoilered". If you haven't watched the big match yet cause you live halfway across the world, you simply just hit the "Spoiler'd Browsing" tab and you are back in lala land!!!

Really easy fix, I didn't go through 57 pages but I assumed that you guys would have thought of this already (I am constantly surprised by how clever you TLers are )

Do it!

Sry, offtopic, but...) TL <3<3<3

I am constantly surprised by how clever and respectful TL users are (well, at least giving other users credit for not being dumber than you are lol ^^). Maybe that's just fucked-up Russian mentality (I am smart, you are dumb, everything is bad), since I rarely lurk at foreign forums. Whatever.

And I also love mods who read though all 60 pages, and respond, and are willing to promote changes o_O

Interesting that the results of this poll are so different from the results of the poll on the first page. Seems like people who read several pages into threads like this care much more about spoilers than people who just click on headlines, read the OP, and move on.

So agreed.
Can we make this a front page poll?

No surprise there. People who read the first page are more likely to be the average site user. People who read several pages into the thread are probably invested in defending the current no-spoilers world of TL and arguing against the OP. Most who agree with the OP are going to vote and move on.

I think many people might be surprised that the engaged users of TL think very differently from those who are not engaged. I remember Liquid'Tyler calling the non-spoiler crowd "odd people" who should form their own "niche site."

I guess what I mean is that even those who are engaged in posting to the site won't have much reason to read deeper in the thread if they simply agree with it, especially if they read the first couple pages and see other people posting in agreement.

No. it doesn't mean anything. The post on the front page has 5k votes and this is only a little over 100 people

I like the idea of an esports pride page, which just shows all the glorious winners.

Usually I find that the first thing I do when I miss a tournament is to check Liquipedia for the results immediately - it's far too inconvenient to trawl through endless VoDs just to see how a tournament plays out.

I think it would be fine to have a huge picture of the winner in the news thread. So the main page doesn't spoil. But as soon as you read the news article there is big happy ESPORTS victory pictures.

Perfect example; who won IEM Kiev? you gotta dig about 3-4 pages deep to find out.
and the preview is still the TL headline.

No. I don't think so. I think if you're going to go on the internet you should expect that sort of thing. It's like if you go on a sport website, you obviously going to get this huge picture of a team/player winning a tournament/game. I don't know what is the big deal.

Bad example! Just one click away from anywhere on TL: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Premier_Tournaments
It's on the right side in the Liquipedia section.

I watch esports for the games. The suspense of not knowing the results doesn't matter to me and spoiling it is fine for me. I do wish for less censorship of tournament results and more open expression.

should make two options in profile pages
one for spoilers
one for non spoilers

also make the full pages of teamliquid spoilers
option 1 users must click every time
option 2 users just read regularly
