Its funny people even say the whole EG has no results when there has been 1 MLG since they moved into the house (3 weeks after they moved in). We have seen them do very well in the EG:MCS and other team leagues, Idra and Demuslim are going to IEM China, Axslav is going to IEM NY, Puma won IEM Cologne and got 5th at MLG Raleigh behind 4 Code S Koreans. EG is actually doing pretty well.

And its silly to bring up Huk when he hasn't even spent time at the house and is in the same training environment that he was in with Liquid as he is still in the oGs house.

But trolls will be trolls and haters will be haters.

@Drowsy: you said it best when you stated you don't know anything about progaming / bw. You don't. A nice house and the fact we own a tv and non PC gaming consoles doesn't mean we don't put in 10 hour days each day... we do.

Progaming teams watch movies on a regular basis and play other games as well (korean teams that is). It's called being a human. Gets old explaining this over and over to a bunch of people that think they know half of what it takes to commit to being a progamer.

@chokke: Huk is code S. Puma slumping? By what standard? His 5th place finish at his first MLG? boohoo. EG took credit for what other teams did? How? Where do you see us taking that credit?

I know you are a troll (posted several times in here, same kinda bs) but please, at least be semi correct with it.

Hehe, don't get too defensive, I'm just blindly speculating, the results will speak when you guys have been there for a long enough time to really reap the benefits of the new training environment. Foreign practice habits are catching up to Korean pro levels and its showing on many occasions. Let's not pretend, though, that there aren't b-teamers sleeping in bunks with 8 other people in the room right this minute though. That's still a big difference from the team EG environment, and those differences can have both positive and negative effects on training.

Western teams are developing support structures to foster full time professional players. Can't ask for more than that. More than the coolness of the house or EG's player performance or whether or not the environment is suitable are all secondary to that. For e-sports to grow, there have to be people who do it professionally. We know from broodwar that environment is a factor in performance, and paying small salaries/travel expenses doesn't cover that. If it's a financially valid course of action for teams to finally start supporting full time professionals with things like housing and training halls, we're going in the right direction no matter what. For that reason, I really hope team EG succeeds and dominates in order to set a precedent and for other western teams to follow suit. This is a step for American starcraft 2 e-sports and I hope more teams are able to do this.

Fuck me the EG house is incredible!
Imagine getting to live in a sick house like that with all your mates, and the only thing you have to do to earn it is play videogames.

This was my impression, too.

It looks like vacation, not hard work. I wouldn't want them to sit in cubicles but part of the success of korean training houses is that everything in the house is focussed on training and all distractions are removed. Can't see that in this house.

Well, we have to wait and see how much EG can focus on training with all those distractions around. It hasn't been enough time yet to really judge the success (or lack of it).

Some of the EG players really nailed it:

Have mediocre or even like no results -->
Still get some of the probably best paychecks in the industry and live in an awesome house.

Koreans/better players must feel stupid...

Yeah because the best athletes in the world don't live in mansions and don't do things outside of their sport... I mean no players have ever gone out and partied the night before the super bowl.... oh wait, they do it all the time.

@chokke: Huk is code S. Puma slumping? By what standard? His 5th place finish at his first MLG? boohoo. EG took credit for what other teams did? How? Where do you see us taking that credit?

Where did I say that HuK or Puma were slumping? I said the trend of people joining EG. It's like saying smoke cause cancer, that doesn't imply every smoker has cancer. Just like EG cause slumping, it just hasn't hit HuK or Puma yet.
My point being, EG lacks the results (except making a handsome Machine) due to EG training. The players are already good when you pick them up (while already being estabelished on a team).

And come on, compare other teams to EG in terms of results compared to training condition and I am sure not even you can pull a joker out of the hat.

They simply won the lottery to get pulled into EG, and I sure as hell wouldn't mind it myself due to being a human implies selfishness.

And here is trolling: I assume you are seeded (for some weird reason) into next MLG?

Yeah but do you do karaoke and drink a 20oz coke in Dixie cups, split between 10 people? That's the real mark of korean pro teams.

I would say dont bother with that guy.. he asked where he said Huk and Puma were slumping but he clearly says it in his original post. Its pretty much his first point.

By following that term, both HuK and Puma is going into a slump (not that I mind seeing HuK down in code B).

Your grammar is irrelevant, the principle behind your post is clear.

Btw, in this case, saying that they are going into a slump is the same as saying they are slumping.

But the whole point is that they just recently overhauled their training environment. Even if your hypothesis that players who joined EG went into slumps because they trained poorly was correct, it wouldn't matter because they just recently changed it by changing the players environments. Anything anyone is saying about the impact of the EG house on team EG performance is speculation (which is still fine and interesting I think) when there's been relatively little opportunity to demonstrate the impacts. It's been what, 2 months? 6 weeks even? There's obviously an initial boost from going into a professional lifestyle in a professional environment, but the champions aren't formed overnight. It's the ability to gut out hundreds of 10-14 hour days with thoughtful and focused practice which makes the champs, and a focused practice environment is a necessary component of this.
