hey everyone just remember, EG is probably one of the richest gaming teams in the world. This is definitely NOT the norm for a programming team, just look at some other houses in korea that they provide for their teams and you will see how rare and unbelievably lucky these people are

wow, pretty nice house. Just few days ago, in Major video, Artosis showed how TSL house (Puma's former team) looks like. If they saw this, I bet every one of them wish they were the ones who won NASL :p

Wow! Nice house! I want one of those monster bags~

I like how Incontrol gets his own room and the master bedroom for him and his girl friend while Axslav and StrifeCro have to share the small room on the bottom floor.

And TSL's house was pretty good standard for Korean house. Most are like this:

But this is sick as hell and EG should absolutely be commended for providing their players with this standard of living.

Man that house is so nice lol. I think thats what is great about EG, regardless of EVERYTHING else they really do have great stability and have seemingly upped their relationship with a lot of their sponsors to new levels ever since the whole Monster acquisition and stuff. They have the stability to help house so many players together and really bring that atmosphere in one place. To think that Machine has almost lived for 2 years in Arizona now, and that he's been teammates with Geoff and Idra for however many years dating back to BW, to be able to live together with guys they've been good if not best friends for, for so long is really cool.

If ever there is a Starcraft 2 reality TV show, this is one hell of a place to shoot it haha, that house really does look amazing. Great job to EG and everyone involved there.

FOR THE 2V2 CHEMISTRY DUH!!! hahaha. All I can think of is like, you know when football players or basketballs or whatever are on the road and they're sharing hotels and roommates and they're always talking about how like...the pitcher and catcher will be together for team chemistry and stuff, thats what I imagine with them.

Never really understood the "too bad its in the middle of nowhere comments." Are you guys just extreme idealists who dream of a perfect world?

I think it benefits them for the house to be where it is for several reasons:
-less distractions. I cant imagine if the house was in vegas or something.
-more affordable
-cheaper cost of living, ex. groceries, utilities, etc.

Apparently Puma played the majority of his games on the korean ladder. TOP has thanked puma for training with him during his pre-finals interview for the GSL. Incontrol touches on this as well in the latest SToG episode.

I don't know if it is a good programming house, since no one in there is a programmer, but progaming house? Of course. Much, much better than those cramped, tiny apartments that BW and Korean SC2 teams live in.

Holy crap that a big house- especially for a gaming house. In korea their gaming houses have 4-6 people per room...But who cares- completely understandable- i couldn't live like the korean gamers.
So grats to EG, and i hope all of the players improve and enjoy their years with EG. =]

Anyways, nice video. The EG lair seems like a really cool house overall for any family, progamers or not. Nicely stocked and equipped for the EG players. I hope SC2 lasts long enough that this house can serve progamers for years to come.

Angelbelow, I chuckle at those comments as well. Phoenix is the 6th most populated city in the US, so not sure how it can be in the middle of nowhere.

Wow, that is a really nice house. I wonder if they are renting it or bought it? Up here in Portland, that's a million dollar house depending on location (I know real estate prices are different every where, just showing relative cost).

haha believe me, its much better than a fraternity or even a college house. when we had a frat house in college we were absolutely despised by our neighborhood despite our best efforts to be respectful.

not that i blame them.

I think real estate prices are the reason the house is where it is. I know some of the EG guys have ties to the pacific NW, but that house would be outlandishly expensive up here.

I am kind of sad I won't ever run in to Geoff walking around Portland though. I always had a nerd-fantasy about that.

That house is so awesome. Open up those 40k boxes and put those together! It makes me a little sad to see a tyrant all boxed up and not standing tall and menacing. Seeing those models I painted again was cool. Never thought I'd see them again let alone on your guys' shelf! Glad you liked them.

If I remember correctly what I read is that Arizona is one of the cheapest places to live in the United States. Here in Florida that house would be around 700k-800k and going up to over a million if you lived in certain suburbs of Orlando. But overall very nice house and hopefully EG's results will improve drastically because of this because they have not been too hot lately besides in team leagues where they are 1st in everyone.

I'm not sure with the bubble bursting but pre-housing bubble that house would cost 700-800k (maybe more depending on area) in arizona as well.

with the housing market crash it may have dropped into the 500-600k range but it's really hard to tell without knowing more about the location.

I believe scoots said they are renting it as they had to convince the landlord it would be ok, so they're probably paying 2500-3500 just in rent, let alone utilities A/C etc.

Idra's cat is named Hobbes? That's fantastic.. I did a double take when I heard that, as my cat is also named Hobbes. Fan of Bill Watterson, Idra? Or maybe John Hobbes? I wasn't a huge Idra fan before but I really enjoy that.

Very nice house, very nice atmosphere EG has created. Setting a good example; I love it. Best of luck to EG and all its players!

If you're talking about SC2 teams, then yeah. SC BW teams were pretty well off despite the size. Homes in South Korea are smaller than ones in the United States. EG's house looks a lot nicer than FXO's in Malaysia.

Yeah I think in some interviews posted before with the likes of SirScoots among others, he stated that Phoenix is a great location because its near sirscoot's house which is a production studio, major international airport is there in Phoenix, Machine and Idra already lived in Arizona, and houses of that size are a great deal there compared to the housing market in many other locations in the US. Phoenix seems like the perfect fit for EG.

Geoff and Anna's room is like a suite man... honestly I'm so jealous yet I'm so happy to see that EG and teams of their stature are willing to invest so much into their players to keep them happy, which ultimately makes them perform better.

Puma must have been so confused seeing this house at first. Korean progaming houses don't even come close to how nice this looks... hands down the best progaming house in terms of functionality, design, and utility.

Eh, if they realized that inControl's worth to EG goes way way beyond his play, they'd get it. Boxer is the best analogy I can think of. He isn't that "great" anymore (he's still gosu as fuck, but he's not a top player anymore), but his image alone is good. Just having him at your tournament is good. No, Geoff is no Boxer, but his worth to EG is akin to Boxer's worth to SlayerS.

*SPLAT*

Eh, if they realized that inControl's worth to EG goes way way beyond his play, they'd get it. Boxer is the best analogy I can think of. He isn't that "great" anymore (he's still gosu as fuck, but he's not a top player anymore), but his image alone is good. Just having him at your tournament is good. No, Geoff is no Boxer, but his worth to EG is akin to Boxer's worth to SlayerS.

All things aside, another reasoning despite him being Anna's girlfriend, and having a in-house girlfriend, it kind of makes sense also that the Captain of the team gets the biggest room.

The start of the video it sounds like Anna' job is a glorified janitor. Unlikely to be true just sounds that way.

Its a great investment in the future from EG. In a environment like the EG Lair, the players could life and practice for years with burning out and lose their focus or pasion about the game and her job. I guess we would see great performance from all players, not just the top tier guys. Even the underrated players like machine and axslav would kick ass(even more) in the future maybe not in the next 2months but in the long term it would pay off. GJ EG

You have to remember this house is in the middle of nowhere (Arizona)

Yea exactly , i mean this house is super nice, but houses in the middle of nowhere arizona probably cost as much as a 4 bedroom apartment in the heart of seoul. Its never the house itself that costs a majority of the money when you buy a property, its the property itself (cept for maybe in arizona where that house very well may cost more than the land its sitting on)

funny how delusional people are in their idea of arizona lol. Yeah..this house is in the middle of nowhere, they ride horses in and out of the local saloon for more supplies and they have to dodge rattlesnakes and scorpions at every cross road. Don't even get me starded on bandits and indians!

gl EG in the wild wild west.

I do hate being from Arizona though, the location is great but the herpderp local govt is always embarrassing. Especially lately.. jan brewer.. wah.

Alot of us Canadians are buying houses in Phoenix as investments.

My wife and I are looking at a house near the size of that one. We will be renting it out during the summer and flying over there for weekends/holidays during the winter. Will be our retirement home.

No word of a lie, we will not be spending more then 100k in Canadian dollars for a house worth five times as much here.

Wow beautiful, from all the team house i seen, most of them have this few desks with lots of computer, while the whole house is cramped up and few of them shares a single bedroom. So i think their only personal-space(?) is where they play.

Even if they house fails because NA practice is awful, they could potentially sell the house in a few years and make a huge profit.

Lol, selling a house in Arizona? Maybe in 20 years, but right now there are literally tens of thousands of houses just like that on the market, which is why they're cheap. They severely overbuilt housing, especially in places like Az, and now a lot of the developers went under because they couldn't sell the houses.

it would be cool if you somehow got a nice connection to the korean server or something, playing the NA ladder compounded with having a real nice house with lots of non-sc2ing would be cool if your results didn't start to dwindle

huk is code s mainstay and won dreamhack. puma won nasl and iem. idra won ipl 1. not amazing results, but if you look around at the foreign tourneys you will find that koreans have been winning everything since naniwa won mlg dallas.

puma practiced primarily on the korean server when he lived there and had good enough latency to be used as major practice partners for a few of the koreans(cant remember who) during the later stages of gsl august. so it obviously cant be that bad.

Oh please... No results my ass. Puma won NASL and IEM Gamescom, Demuslim did well at the last MLG, EG is in currently first place in the EGMC. If what you're looking for is big wins against Korean teams, no one has done that yet, but EG is making a good investment towards making a livable lifestyle for these guys so they have the same opportunity as the guys in Korea have. If Blizzard would make an effort to lessen the latency issues, they'd have every opportunity the Koreans have.

huk is code s mainstay and won dreamhack. puma won nasl and iem. idra won ipl 1. not amazing results, but if you look around at the foreign tourneys you will find that koreans have been winning everything since naniwa won mlg dallas.

it would be cool if you somehow got a nice connection to the korean server or something, playing the NA ladder compounded with having a real nice house with lots of non-sc2ing would be cool if your results didn't start to dwindle

puma practiced primarily on the korean server when he lived there and had good enough latency to be used as major practice partners for a few of the koreans(cant remember who) during the later stages of gsl august. so it obviously cant be that bad.

iirc puma helped oGsTop for his finals against IM.Mvp.
i also recall on Sase's Stream, Sase encountered Puma twice on the KR server, and puma won both o_O, so Puma did managed to have quality practice on the KR ladder while in the EG house.

Well of both of EG's premier players are new aquisitions that were bought after they did those big wins. I really like Demuslims play though, he seems to have the most potential(other than Puma) of the EG roster so far.

Most homes in Phoenix of that size don't come anywhere close to 5 or 600k right now. I worked in appraisal and homes of that size in Phoenix were generally appraised at right around 200-300k. It's rather easy to find a 2500 sq ft, 5 bedroom, 3 bath house in Phoenix for under 300k right now.

House.

This is so true. My parents bought a similar house in Chandler, which is really close to where they are, four years ago for about 600k. Their house is probably a little smaller than that one but in a better location. They looked at what they could get for it now and it was appraised at 250k-300k. The housing market in Phoenix is really bad right now. Also from the view out the window it seemed like they where at the outskirts of the city where houses go for a lot less then they do near the center.
Holy Check!

Places near Ontario california are getting pretty as well. 350 can get a similar house that EG has. 5 bedrooms 4 bathrooms huge yard, sometimes with pool. The market for housing is general is not doing well.

-cheaper cost of living, ex. groceries, utilities, etc.

This is what I was thinking as well. I mean, these guys are progamers...they are on their computers A LOT. Who cared WHERE they are on their computers at rofl.

I think this is the nicest progaming house I've seen. The second best would have to be FXO's team house in Malaysia.

Well incontrol is team captain and Anna is the live-in whip-cracker, both positions which traditionally get better accommodations than roster players.

Would be interesting if EG ever uses the property to boot camp for any of their other games.

Edit: Why do so many people think Phoenix is the middle of nowhere? Is this just geographic ignorance from non-Americans or what? They have internet access and proximity to a major international airport, the only location "better" than this would be a major city within Korea/Taiwan, which would also probably be 10x more expensive per sq ft. Phoenix having such cheap housing is because the housing market outproduced the Phoenix job market, which is not a problem for progaming team. It's an ideal situation.

Phoenix is one of the biggest cities in America and iirc they are in Scottsdale, which is certainly not a poor community by any standard. Puts most to shame in fact.

What I learned in this thread; EG has a beautiful home (close to my house too!), I also found out that I do in fact live in the middle of no where which is news to me.

I believe scoots said they are renting it as they had to convince the landlord it would be ok, so they're probably paying 2500-3500 just in rent, let alone utilities A/C etc.

source: arizona native and home buyer. -.-

House.

SirScoots said it was in the Desert Ridge area which is a far cry from near Anthem. 85050 housing has greater value than 85086.

Koreans must be so jealous of this if they see it.

You could fit the entire BW pro-scene into this house if you did it the korean way. :D
There'd be like a team per room.

Compared to the ProS house tour on GG, this is so much more luxurious.

well you just have to look in the context.

eg house is in a somewhat 'isolated' area of america, that, and america is 500 times larger than seoul.

which is why houses in korea are so cramped, because everyone lives up in apartments. to have a house like the eg house in korea, you'd have to be super rich and/or be living out of the major cities, which at the moment how the ESPORTS scene is structured, is feasibly impossible.

The slayers apartment is actually not bad when it comes to space. You still see 4 people to a room but it's not as cramped as most pro-houses.

But yeah, very jealous of the EG house, a pool is just the icing on the cake. Nice kitchen, nice bedrooms nice backyard, nice everything really.

Also huge televisions, no fair!

That has to be the best gaminghouse i've seen yet. The Korean apartments are about a third of the size, and not even close to as luxurious. I'm pleased that EG is setting the standars as high as they are.

Oh and also, credits to monster for taking the first step towards making eSports as glamorous and mainstream as possible. They've had the right idea on how to help communities since they first started the company.

Edit; Oh and also, that dog could be the cutest thing i've ever seen! <3EGPoa

I know real-estate is relatively cheap right now, especially in suburban Phoenix (where I also live), but how the Jesus fuck did team EG afford this? I had no idea a non-korean pro-gaming team had these kind of resources. From what I've seen in videos anyway, these accommodations dwarf a lot of Korean team's houses, this is something they would use to house way more than just 8-12 players it seems like.

God, I hate to be such a negative nancy, but too much comfort doesn't always foster the bloodthirsty competitive drive necessary to compete with Korean teams. I don't claim to know everything about the korean broodwar practice environment, but from what I've gathered it's very competitive to even have the priviledge of playing the game professionally and have your room and board provided for and practice partners/b teamers are afforded minimal luxuries and slipping/succumbing to distraction/not progressing is a surefire way to get sent home. Obviously some balance is important and all, but I would foresee a lot of players perhaps not progressing as quickly in this environment compared to a more sparse one. When I picture a Korean broodwar teamhouse, I'm not getting the image of the players huddled around console games, going out to the backyard pool, playing with warhammer figurines, watching DVDs/television often. I remember Rekrul recounting stories of him getting bitched out for playing poker during his brief progaming career. The starving wolf is a much more fearsome beast than the thoroughbred, domesticated, dog.

But then again, with the western scene expanding as it is and the fact that there's a lot more amateurism, maybe they don't even need to practice 10-12 hours/day with complete focus and determination to dominate western tournaments. I'd reckon they could probably dominate most western events practicing much less and leading an ultimately much more balanced and fulfilling life. Training for the GSL or for professional broodwar is a lot more demanding than for the events of the western esports scene. I would also foresee a lot less potential for players to burn out on the game and hit severe slumps. And I'm sure any player would be happier practicing in an EG type environment, and that's definitely important.

I guess as a fan I always expected that the only thing separating western players from the Koreans was access to support and the fact that there was a relative lack of full time professionals which resulted in a lower overall level of play. Maybe the cultural factors and the fact that Korea is still a developing economy is a bigger reason for the gap between foreigners and Koreans than I had though.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video, I was definitely surprised and expecting something totally different. I don't mean to disparage team EG or it's players in any way, sorry if it comes off that way.

huk is code s mainstay and won dreamhack. puma won nasl and iem. idra won ipl 1. not amazing results, but if you look around at the foreign tourneys you will find that koreans have been winning everything since naniwa won mlg dallas.

Funny how their results are from players new to EG or quite a while back.
By following that term, both HuK and Puma is going into a slump (not that I mind seeing HuK down in code B). But it's sad to see EG take credit for what another team did.

Sure, I wouldn't mind being in that house myself, just chillin' and playing games (heck, I don't evcne have to show results, just leech of someone elses money). Basically winning the lottery and having someone else pay for your shit.

Last time i heard he was on break due to personal problems which is why he was absent to past foreign tournament. This was before he switch to Zerg. Idk his situation atm
Nice house team EG
I thought scoots live with ya guys

He was absent at MLG because he was with the sponsors at Kingston HyperX working the booth there for PAX Prime. I don't know if he's on break from the game, but it has nothing to do with him playing Zerg since he's been playing Zerg for several months now. He lives at home in Baton Rouge though, he is very close to his family and his girlfriend there so living in Arizona wasn't yet for him, although he has stated in the past that bootcmaping there is definitely something he'd plan on doing.

@Drowsy: you said it best when you stated you don't know anything about progaming / bw. You don't. A nice house and the fact we own a tv and non PC gaming consoles doesn't mean we don't put in 10 hour days each day... we do.

Progaming teams watch movies on a regular basis and play other games as well (korean teams that is). It's called being a human. Gets old explaining this over and over to a bunch of people that think they know half of what it takes to commit to being a progamer.

@chokke: Huk is code S. Puma slumping? By what standard? His 5th place finish at his first MLG? boohoo. EG took credit for what other teams did? How? Where do you see us taking that credit?

I know you are a troll (posted several times in here, same kinda bs) but please, at least be semi correct with it.

Impressive house, you are definitely in the best environnment to practice. I really hope you are able to keep practicing hard even if chilling in the pool and acting lazy seems interesting...!

I honestly try to avoid responding to posts like "EG = No results" But you dont appear to be a troll. So lets discuss: I dont feel like Puma has been in a slump at all. He won IEM over MC 3-0 when he was on EG. He placed 5th at MLG behind 4 other koreans, hes winning most of his clan matches (only loss is to Mana (baller PvT)). Even while he was at the EG lair its been documented that hes mainly trained on the korean ladder (sources: TOP's interview during his GSL run to the finals and InC on SToG).

As far as Huk goes, he slumped because of lack of practice and too much traveling, doesnt matter what team hes on, good chance anyone in those conditions slump. But I don't think he slumped that hard. He still made GSL Ro8. Even with Huk's slump, its difficult to name a better foreigner right now. Sure you can argue a few (Thorzain comes to mind) but to not include Huk in a top 3 would be silly.

I do think your mentality of "EG take credit for what another team did" is quite immature and silly. First and foremost Huk and Puma earned their accomplishments, not their teams. Don't get me wrong, teams definitely help but you make it sound as if the credit goes only to the team. Also you selfishly refuse to look out for the players themselves. Don't you think Huk and Puma earned the right to have some financial stability? Do you realize what kind of opportunity EG is providing them? For a lot of these players its their dream to be a pro gamer and be financially stable, who are you to say they do or do not deserve it?

Its funny people even say the whole EG has no results when there has been 1 MLG since they moved into the house (3 weeks after they moved in). We have seen them do very well in the EG:MCS and other team leagues, Idra and Demuslim are going to IEM China, Axslav is going to IEM NY, Puma won IEM Cologne and got 5th at MLG Raleigh behind 4 Code S Koreans. EG is actually doing pretty well.

And its silly to bring up Huk when he hasn't even spent time at the house and is in the same training environment that he was in with Liquid as he is still in the oGs house.

But trolls will be trolls and haters will be haters.

Hehe, don't get too defensive, I'm just blindly speculating, the results will speak when you guys have been there for a long enough time to really reap the benefits of the new training environment. Foreign practice habits are catching up to Korean pro levels and its showing on many occasions. Let's not pretend, though, that there aren't b-teamers sleeping in bunks with 8 other people in the room right this minute though. That's still a big difference from the team EG environment, and those differences can have both positive and negative effects on training.

Western teams are developing support structures to foster full time professional players. Can't ask for more than that. More than the coolness of the house or EG's player performance or whether or not the environment is suitable are all secondary to that. For e-sports to grow, there have to be people who do it professionally. We know from broodwar that environment is a factor in performance, and paying small salaries/travel expenses doesn't cover that. If it's a financially valid course of action for teams to finally start supporting full time professionals with things like housing and training halls, we're going in the right direction no matter what. For that reason, I really hope team EG succeeds and dominates in order to set a precedent and for other western teams to follow suit. This is a step for American starcraft 2 e-sports and I hope more teams are able to do this.

This was my impression, too.

It looks like vacation, not hard work. I wouldn't want them to sit in cubicles but part of the success of korean training houses is that everything in the house is focussed on training and all distractions are removed. Can't see that in this house.

Well, we have to wait and see how much EG can focus on training with all those distractions around. It hasn't been enough time yet to really judge the success (or lack of it).

Some of the EG players really nailed it:

Have mediocre or even like no results -->
Still get some of the probably best paychecks in the industry and live in an awesome house.

Yeah because the best athletes in the world don't live in mansions and don't do things outside of their sport... I mean no players have ever gone out and partied the night before the super bowl.... oh wait, they do it all the time.

Where did I say that HuK or Puma were slumping? I said the trend of people joining EG. It's like saying smoke cause cancer, that doesn't imply every smoker has cancer. Just like EG cause slumping, it just hasn't hit HuK or Puma yet.
My point being, EG lacks the results (except making a handsome Machine) due to EG training. The players are already good when you pick them up (while already being estabelished on a team).

And come on, compare other teams to EG in terms of results compared to training condition and I am sure not even you can pull a joker out of the hat.

They simply won the lottery to get pulled into EG, and I sure as hell wouldn't mind it myself due to being a human implies selfishness.

And here is trolling: I assume you are seeded (for some weird reason) into next MLG?

Btw, in this case, saying that they are going into a slump is the same as saying they are slumping.

Anything anyone is saying about the impact of the EG house on team EG performance is speculation (which is still fine and interesting I think) when there's been relatively little opportunity to demonstrate the impacts. It's been what, 2 months? 6 weeks even? There's obviously an initial boost from going into a professional lifestyle in a professional environment, but the champions aren't formed overnight. It's the ability to gut out hundreds of 10-14 hour days with thoughtful and focused practice which makes the champs, and a focused practice environment is a necessary component of this.

Yeah its funny how people compare EG to slayers with the only difference being that slayers "grow their own players" but how long has slayers enjoyed their team house training compared to EG? is it really fair to say EG cant grow their own players like slayers when slayers established their team house and training regiment months ago?

Afaik not the manager of the team but the manager of the practice house. Probably taking care of bills and stuff, coordinating sponsor events and so on.

Edit: The last part would probably make her somekind of a team manager, so not sure.

There is one thing that does not quite add up for me...

In Korea pretty much the best players get into the training houses?
With EG players some players (not all of them!!!) no one has a clue why they are even 100% progamers go into a progaming house.

I just wonder, and can be proven wrong by results, why half of these guys are even full time progamers...

I have nothing against EG, but at the moment they seem to consist of players they bought that already were top players which most had results in advance (Idra, Puma, Demuslim, Huk) + "filler" that has not done much ever, not even in Beta while competing with people of which the majority are only "part time" progamers?

Well, prove me wrong and own the shit up, you for sure got a nice place to train now ^^. I see a major overhaul of the team coming if not even this house will help...

Great house, location dosn't matter because every pro player make their trips to Europe, Korea or even in other part of US. It's not like they participating in GSL or Kespa events.

Pretty damn luxurious. Second greatest team house after FXO's.

FXO and EG houses are probably as big as the team houses of all the Korean teams put together. Really pitiful in comparison.

I think eg focuses a lot on having the sort of interesting personalities that sponsors love plastering their brand all over. They don't necessarily have to win the biggest tournaments, they just have to stay competitive and get as much exposure as they possibly can.

That there's room for teams like eg to be making money in sc2 e-sports when they obviously aren't at the same level as korean teams just means that e-sports are flourishing. I'm happy for them, I know for a fact that they've all done a lot of hard work, much of it directly benefiting e-sportz as a whole.

It shouldn't really come as a surprise that western practice regimens don't work as well as the korean equivalent either. When idra left korea he was well aware that his game would eventually suffer.

Those guys are the luckiest sons of bitches on the planet. If this ever becomes the standard for progaming houses in the future it will be one of the most sought after proffesions in the world. I hope they realize just how lucky they are. Yeah some of them have to share a room with someone, but that's not really a big deal, all you do there is sleep anyway. They get to live in an awesome house and do what they love.

Yeah they have to play a lot, and yeah I am sure that there is some pressure to preform well, but that's true for every single job in the world. Playing 10 hours a day is not hard, regular jobs are 8 hours a day, and often more "demanding" than playing. I think 9/10 people would take the deal these guys get even if they don't like gaming, because in that case it's just a job with pretty good benefits like free living arrangements.

It's a lovely house, and I hope EG has all the success in the world. <3

I get what you mean. But "interesting" personalities..

Really no insult:
Incontrol, for sure and does ton of community stuff and he's absolutely not one of the guys I question.

But some of the other lesser known players?
I know of Axlav and Machine because Incontrol talks sometimes about them and well.. Thats basically it, all i see from them is dropping out early in tournaments.
Now i can't judge the worth of a player from the outside and there are probably good reasons they are progamers, I and probably many others just don't see them which makes this feel strange.

I think every single Korean pro shit themselves when they saw this. Sure, our players may not be as good, but they get this plus a salary! Maybe we'll see more switch after seeing how our pro's have it compared to theirs...

P.S. I'm not saying we're better players/wealthier, and I'm aware of the cost of living in korea, but this is awesome.

Show this video to korean pros who have to live in korean gaming houses, and they are all signing with western organizations.

Why do people even bring up Koreans to this discussion?

It's a different standard of everything.. USA is a different country.. A Korean house wouldn't be accepted by western society.. It would look like slavery since most of those kids don't even have salary's and contracts..

Don't forget the people that sponsor euros and Americans know that these guys might not be the best in the world but they are their best chance of grabbing attention in Europe and USA.. If they sponsor MVP or IM what would that bring them? Exposure in Korea? Or they would bring the Koreans to play to live in USA?

EG, Col etc.. just need to help them sell stuff to our community... Let the Koreans get their own sponsors and accept that western teams might have worse players but have much better organization, marketing and help us improve our players instead of just buying out Koreans!

I love Koreans i buy GSL but not every tournament have to be just Koreans..

actually location matters very much. if your house in korea your less likely to be making exposure videos and sponsorship stuff or having as sweet of a house because your team origin is in lets say eu or us. but the good side is that you get to practice on the korean server which just makes you improve faster and have higher potential

That and housing in Arizona is very cheap because of its location/weather. The same house in New York or another city would be a multi-million mansion.

Homes are dirt cheap in Arizona right now. Las Vegas might be a fair bit worse than Arizona right now though. I had a 5 bedroom, 3 bath house come across my desk appraised for <100k.

Awesome house guys! Glad to see you guys living the dream.

And for everyone who is getting all 'realestate speculator' on us, it's irrelevant as I'm pretty sure it's a rented house being that Scoots has talked in the past about the trials and tribulations of convincing the landlord to house a bunch of gamers. Plus renting has it's own obvious tax benefits for a business situation like this.

I'm house shopping at the moment in Alberta, Canada and now I'm bitter. I'm looking at what you guys are rocking with the full knowledge that the same price point up here will net me some 2 bedroom shit-box. I'm thinking I'll just move to Phoenix instead. Howdy neighbours!

EG is really doing an awesome job. They're taking the team thing to the next level and really selling us on the personalities and the individuals.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy

that look on incontrol's face at the beginning oddly reminded me of those pigs from angry birds who do that lil smug smile when you used up all your birds.

I believe scoots said they are renting it as they had to convince the landlord it would be ok, so they're probably paying 2500-3500 just in rent, let alone utilities A/C etc.

source: arizona native and home buyer. -.-

House.

SirScoots said it was in the Desert Ridge area which is a far cry from near Anthem. 85050 housing has greater value than 85086.

This man gets it.

Of course you can find mega homes in anthem, queen creek or west of surprise for 250-300k. I'm not saying EG house hasn't dropped dramatically 'herp derp' it definitely has since 2008 but it's value should have held more firmly then the anthem, queen creeks etc. of Arizona. My parents bought a home pre bubble for 520,000 in a rather prime, developing area that's about 1/2 the size (if not smaller) than the EG lair and their appraisal dropped to ~275,000. Location is much more important than size, that EG house is awesome and likely costs EG quite a bit of $$$, grats on EG to pay to support their players so lavishly!

well do not think of it as an insult, but I am quite sure many people who live in places like california, new york or the north east consider arizona and several other states "middle of nowhere"

i think the same way and i do not mean it in any offensive way ;}

It's evil geniuses, they are probably the richest gaming team in the world. They are sponsored by about 10000 companies, and can afford anything they want really. If you listen to the rumors, huk is on 6 digits a year, freak!

Do you all think they'll realistically live there for 5+ years? I worry that, if their results can't justify the accommodations, they might be asked to leave (not that I'm suggesting they are having poor results at the moment). I like Incontrol, bit I worry that his contract wouldn't be renewed due to his shotty performance. In NO way is this a flame. I'm just voicing a concern and seeing how others feel about it. Thanks.

I think it was SirScoots who was guest on weapon of choice when chill couldn't make it who said, that eg can already justify sending all their guys to an mlg when one of them has one game on the mainstage. Sponsors care a lot more about how much attention you get rather than how well you do. I'd say that given that huk plays in gsl on a monthly base and idra and incontrol are 2 of the most known figures in the sc2 community and both of them play in a lot of tourneys, eg can even justify letting their hole team life in that house.

I don't get why everyone thinks they could get "distracted". It's their job. They have to "work" 8-10 hours a day. I don't quite get why do you think they would suddendly stop working and go to the pool.

To assemble warhammer figures, play console games etc. just takes time. When Jinro was very strong he mentioned once playing 15 hours a day. Idra talked about 12,5 hours a day. I guess in the EG house the standard will rather be around the times you mentioned.

This. Totally dislike the guy but I watch Incontrol's games at MLG just hoping he will lose in an embarrassing way, I'm sure there are a lot of people like that. That is still publicity. He doesn't need to win, people just have to want to watch him. Maybe if it gets to the point that he can never win and he no chance EG would do something, but right now he does take a game off decent players occasionally.

Very few korean SC2 playes play more than 10 hours.

If Jinro was playing that much, he was just trying to catch up, but probably burned himself out extremely quickly.

Compared to the ProS house tour on GG, this is so much more luxurious.
I wouldn't say that. It is a huge tradeoff either way. You live in a rural area in the desert of Arizona with a spacious home or you live in a cramped apartment in the bustling metropolis of Seoul. Take your pick.

They live in Phoenix one of the largest cities in USA and the largest city land wise (roughly 16,573 sq. mi square miles metro area) in the USA I would not call it rural by any stretch. Its just a different than European and Asian citys due to the huge amount of land they build out not up. So its very spread out with highways connecting most areas. Thus they have plenty of land for large houses and almost no allergies since they live in a desert.

How does Incontrol sleep in the same bed as Anna and still keep the "no sex before marriage"

He must seriously stay in control of himself to do that. All puns aside that is a very hard thing to do, props to inc.

There'd be like a team per room.

Compared to the ProS house tour on GG, this is so much more luxurious.
I wouldn't say that. It is a huge tradeoff either way. You live in a rural area in the desert of Arizona with a spacious home or you live in a cramped apartment in the bustling metropolis of Seoul. Take your pick.

Didn't know a city with 1.5 million people was considered rural area. Learn something new every day.

Look how rural and in the middle of no where this place looks:

It's kinda funny everyone saying how awesome of a gaming house this is. You'd think people who are saying this have never lived in a home before. It's basically a nice spacious house, with a lot of computers.

I think since we're so used to seeing these cramped borderline dungeon-like gaming "houses" in Korea it's a nice breath of fresh air. Only downside is that it's in Arizona! har har har

Most people don't have a fireplace, grill, large underground swimming pool, tons of computers, a large entertainment center, a second floor, etc.

That house would be considered high-end where I live.

Have you seen some the pics of the korean team houses, if they are to be believed they are like 7 of them to a room the same size. Massive upgrade to only have one roommate if that is true.

Nice house though, cool to seem them living the dream of getting payed to play video games and doing it in style. I wonder if puma got to pick his roommate or they already just had the extra bed there. And what happens if both huk and puma are there. I bet huk bunks with idra if that occurs xp

I don't get the "well they have too much distraction there" argument.

It has been proven several times that big companies that create a relaxing and nice environment for their employees tends to be very successfull.

If I remember correctly, the last documentary I saw was about Pixar. They have a fitness room, mediation rooms etc etc. It's all about the employees feeling good. And guess what: the employees are very thankfull for such an environment and deliver great work.

Studies proves that those employees work better (at least over a longer period of time) compared to those guys with their little offices and constant pressure.

@TeamEG and Incontrol: very nice house. I was always shocked seeing those korean programing houses. I couldn't live in such an environment. But what you guys build up there is very awesome. It's the right way to become even more successfull. Good luck to all you guys !

I wonder if it's already been asked, but does anyone "manage" EG in the same way that Korean managers do so for Korean teams? Things like training schedule, what they eat, when they sleep, etc?

What I've also noticed is that a lot of the EG guys seem to (despite all being together) mostly just spam ladder games all day. Im sure they at least look at replays together once in a while, but isn't the idea to be playing each other most of the time? Working on each other's games to improve as a team? The house is pretty awesome, but as far as I've been keeping up with EG (which is meh, I'll admit) the "training house" doesn't seem to serve much purpose other then having everyone under one roof.

I've been thinking the same thing, but i think that is just because they dont want to show anyone their practice. They stream ladder games for the public, but after that i think they would practice with each other non stop to get the best practice possible, and they have an even number of people so they could have a partner each!

They usually stream their first practice session(4 hours) which consists of mostly ladder games, then they probably play eachother the next 4 hour session. That's my guess at least

Housing collapse and bad economy and vast amount of land in US leads to cheap prices. Depending on their location, the price range could be as low as $250k, with a high end range of $750k.

It could be even lower than that, ive heard of places that are around 100K due to the recession

The issue is mainly tax. The tax value of the houses seem to be higher then their actual worth. My aunt has a ranch style that is currently valued at around 120k or so post recession, yet the tax evaluation is the house is around 180k.

If the same evaluators did the EG house, it's probably around 150K above the actual value :D

They have it set up into two 4 hour sessions which are mandatory. One is spent on ladder/streaming and the other is custom games. Then most guys take another break, but go back to doing something sc2 related usually. This is what I've understood from most interviews they've given.

DeMuslim said he trains 12-14 hours a day in the EG house and it wouldn't surprise me if others are doing the same. I'd bet most are putting 10+ hours in a day.

Also I was watching DeMuslim's stream the other day and could hear Geoff in the background fulfilling his coaching duty. He was watching the guys play and just coaching, it was cool to hear and I don't think Geoff gets enough credit for that. DuMuslim said Geoff has been really helpful too.

Well I remember SOTG where incontrol said something about Idra having like 20 games in a day w/ puma.

Puma also plays a lot of games w/ notable koreans, while in the house.
I'm sure there are a lot more stuff they do, that we don't know about, at least in terms of practice.

Just wanted to write this, because i feel like you're not getting enough credit from the community for your work. But imho i can stay a fan of TL and at the same time appreciate your work and dedication as part of the esports community.

Tbf, Puma has pretty much been singlehandedly carrying EG, and he doesn't even live in that house.

Because PuMa winning his games is all thats needed to win an entire clan war right? Up until now, most of the clan wars played with Puma have been with him at the EG lair.

From what I read, he was pointing out that Puma is their strongest player who had that skill before he joined eg and EG even had that house.
If anything, he is praising Puma for being such a strong player. Ofcourse, I haven't read anything else of what he wrote.

There is no need to take everything as hate or negative, try to look on other possibilities for what things can mean.

Youre hate for EG is clear and its great to have passionate fans like you (I do mean this is a good way because its always nice to have rivalries and anti-fans) but at least be correct. Whats the point of spitting bullshit?

Whoa, man. Calm down there. I'm merely stating what I've observed. A good portion of EG's wins this season has come from Puma winning his series and then the ace match, in a similar manner to how IdrA was previously carrying the team before he hit a slump. That is what I would call "carrying the team", and I don't see how I was "spitting bullshit".

It was in response to a poster who seemed to be implying that EG's good results in EGMC had to do with their training house, and I was merely disagreeing with it unless you would like to argue that Puma has significantly improved from staying in Arizora for a couple of weeks. Will it eventually produce results? I think so, but it hasn't shown yet, which is reasonable considering those guys haven't lived and trained there for long at this point.

I would say fair enough, but your initial wording fails to carry out your meaning. You say that puma is singlehandedly winning a clan war for them, which is already impossible, and that he doesnt live "even" live in the house. If you work for them you should know that he was staying in the EG house for almost all the clan wars theyve had thus far.

You dont come off as neutral at all. IDemuslim is doing a great job carrying his weight as well. I cant say the same about idra though.

As a side note, it may just be your wording. Even in the Naniwa thread your posts caused a lot of confusion.

Again, do you believe that staying in Arizona for a couple of weeks had bearing on how Puma crushed most players in EGMC? Where he was physically at the time of playing those games don't have much relevance, if you understand what I'm saying.

I've actually gone back to check all the results again, and you are right about DeMuslim. He has been playing quite well. I will take back my original post, although I maintain that Puma has been no doubt their most important player during this season.

PS: I will send you a PM so we can discuss the Naniwa thread there instead if you have any question about it.

Also, I don't have a "clear hate" for EG, because uh...I kind of work for them. I try to view things in neutral perspectives though.

To clarify my stance, I believe that Puma is their best player and it doesnt matter if he lives in the house or not for him to play the way he does. What I was responding to was "puma singlehandedly winning the clan wars and him not living in the house." Puma can not singlehandedly win a clan war, at least not literally but I know what you mean (hes the MVP of the team.)

I think overall I have a better understanding of where youre coming from so I take back anything I said that may have been offensive to you. Seems like were more of less in the same boat.

I think the naniwa thing was cleared up after you posted some more and clarified it. It was just your initial wording was confusing and extremely vague.

You have to remember this house is in the middle of nowhere (Arizona)

Yea exactly , i mean this house is super nice, but houses in the middle of nowhere arizona probably cost as much as a 4 bedroom apartment in the heart of seoul. Its never the house itself that costs a majority of the money when you buy a property, its the property itself (cept for maybe in arizona where that house very well may cost more than the land its sitting on)

screw you guys, I live in Arizona Mesa, AZ and proud of it!

The Arizona housing market is a beautiful thing.

(Actually most of the Southwest's housing market is in a similar situation. Sucks.)

Seeing Anna makes me think... what happened to Idra's gf? Dont remember her name, but she waas all over the forums a while back, but nothing seems to have happened since!

hope everything is ok between them! On a side note, must've been weird at the start to live with all those guys! Keep up the awesome work EG (and of course MONSTER). I used to drink red bull, but after seeing what they've been doing together, i gotta switch up my energy drink!

rofl trolls don't even try these days.

5 minutes of google searching and I found a Desert Ridge home for Rent (scoots said this is the location and they had a landlord so I'm presuming they're renting) with about as close to the floor plan as I can tell in the video. Grand hall, winding stair case, outside looks similar, same # of bedrooms, pool, etc.

http://www.mls4desertridge.com/2340595_57559-4719-E-ROBIN-Lane-Phoenix-AZ-RENT_Detail.aspx

2900/month.

I wouldn't be surprised if the EG lair was slightly bigger and over 3k.

You nerds need to get real jobs and move out before you talk about home prices and what's 'nice' or not.

The EG house is sick.

Haha yeah.. they aren't even trying.. I dont think you can get a 5 bedroom house around 2400-2800sq (im guessing the house is around there) with a huge backyard in a well-populated area for 1000$ a month anywhere in the US. Just to be fair, it definitely doesn't mean EG is balling with money either, but its definitely not dirt cheap.

Still I think people are overstating the cost. I mean compare total cost of that house for a year (at ~3k a month) to Huk/Idra etc rumored salaries. Doesn't seem so unreasonable then. Still the house is so awesome, and def my favorite team just because of personalities and players involvement in the community.

I don't understand the poll... Sure it is an amazing house but the BEST house you have ever seen? O.o Atleast a quarter of the houses in my city are like that or bigger. I don't live in one like that myself so I am not bragging but how have so many people never experienced seeing or hanging out in a house that is atleast that size. Must be the row of computers I guess.

Haha yeah.. they aren't even trying..

You can. If you actually checked you would see that it wasn't a troll.

Oh and to rent one isnt much different.

Mortgage rates do not include all the other expenses when owning a house (taxes, HOA fees, etc.) and thats taking into consideration that they put 20% down...I highly doubt they tossed 40k in to a house...

If you actually owned a home, you would see that it was a stupid comment.

And the one for rent doesn't have near the amenities that the EG lair actually has. Wheres the private pool? Wheres the stainless appliances?

The listings for the $2900 a month is a lot more accurate. You can now go back to living with your parents.

There are places in the US that give houses away for free.

The poll needs some work. It's definitely not the greatest house I've ever seen, but I think it is the best gaming house. I'd put it more as a good house that is the greatest gaming house.

great house considering how big the team is. lots of space and some areas for relaxation when u want to take a break from SC2. not the best house ive seen, but def a above average home. but considering the amount of ppl that are actually in that house at all times its a pretty average home.

all in all its a perfect house for any pro gaming team really. pool, good kitchen, extremely spacey practice areas, huge TVs, and etc. what more can u want? the fact that these guys live in that house and pay for it by pure gaming is any mans dream.

but my MAIN concern with a house like that is will they dedicate more time into actual practicing or will they let the luxuries of that house and its area take over? cuz at the end of the day its still a "training" house to in order to get better as pro gamers.

It's a really nice house, but I kinda think it's almost too excessive.

Of course!

What a fantastic house. Honestly, I wouldn't have expected a place with half as much grandeur...
