I would imagine it's important to know how much everyone else is paying their players so that you know how much to pay to stay competitive but not overpay.

what is with all the single post people coming in to defend mill?

But do you consider this a cocky attitude or what are you referring to?
However, this incident definitely doesn't look like professional behavior by Stephano. Also, I don't understand why there are people actually criticizing Complexity - as far as I see (in currently available information) there's not a single problem in the way they approached and signed Stephano. What's with this criticism?

Just a french stephano fan who was listening to llewellys stream when he said that. What i wrote is not my opinion, it's just here to show what millenium is thinking/saying.

they probably have a good idea what most of them DONT make, which if they paid more than that, would make them him "one of the highest" paid players/

We should keep in mind that stephano is very young and get that kind of opportunities can make him make some mistakes and it's not that important :D

Come on, Millenium will never be able to offer Stephano what coL could, don't be blind.

I posted this in the other thread, but once again I'm left to wonder if this is actually bad for the "french scene". Will non-French teams be less willing to sign French players because of these shenanigans?
Also, the only way to hold players accountable for these kinds of actions is if teams work together to basically ban players from organized support if they perform these kind of actions, so I am sad that Millenium actually supports this.

Stephano's contract with compLexity made him one of the highest paid SC2 players in the world at Complexity.
What I got out of is including all coL and MVP players, he would've been "one of the highest paid".

This attitude seems to be common. Yet, last I checked, contracts are not slavery, and one can leave a work contract at anytime, without repercussions. The fact a contract is "legally binding" doesn't make one a slave.
False. Contracts for employment are diverse, as are the potential repercussions. First, the consequence of no longer being employed and paid by that employer always exists. Second, non-compete clauses are quite common, as are damages for breach. On top of that, tortious interference with a business activity is a possible claim complexity may have against millennium for improperly tampering with their binding agreement. True, an employment contact does not make one a slave, but it doesn't give one free license to breach without consequences, either.
That being said, some breaches of contract are to the economic advantage of the one who breaches. Let's say stephano has to pay a bunch of money to complexity for breaching. If millennium pays him so much in salary that he can afford to pay that fine plus make a lot more money than he would have, we have what's called an efficient breach. Happens all the time in business.

You're a lawyer and you've fully read and understood the contract, brohan? Don't make silly allegations.
|
I'm no lawyer but I know for sure that a french working contract in france has to be signed in french. (just signed one with a big international company , it was written in french and english , and i was told that i did not have to sign the english one as it holds no value ).
Now I dont know what kind of contract coL made Stephano sign but if it was a contract intending to apply in France it should have been written in french, As for an american one, I think you might require permits to do so before.

Millenium accuses Complexity of "disorienting" Stephano, When Complexity says there was a long period of negotiation.
Millenium says: "After a long discussion, Stephano understood his mistake and decided to stay with Millenium for the next 12 months"
It sounds to me like the kid made his decision to go to Complexity, when Millenium didn't think he would, then Millenium persuaded him to come back.
If anyone is doing the disorienting, it sounds like it's Millenium.

1.6 million ESPORTS dollars to whoever can actually find and provide a reliable source for the 'Contracts don't mean anything for 30 days (1 week, 2 weeks, whatev) in France' clause/law.

Love when rampant speculation gets thrown around in unmoderated threads about disputes such as this one before both sides of the story have been fleshed out. At this stage it's all he said she said. Don't you people ever learn?

As a side note to wrap up this shit... Stephano, you just gave up the opportunity of a lifetime. You could have been competing in GSL, training with MVP, getting flown out to any venue you want, having corporate sponsors drowning you in money... and you stayed with Millennium because of a loophole in a contract, and because 5AM is late for an 18 year old who plays videogames.
...... I can't say anything else. eSports just got kicked in the balls.
