PS: "TL is probably one of the least likely to be cheating" is not really an argument. Tournaments can't really run on trust.
1st it IS an argument tl has the biggest reputation of all teams in sc2 and its a body you can trust to
2nd its everywhere even in soccer worldcup there COULD be manipulation but it just doenst happen (at least not more ^^ smile to germany vs austria ^^) cause of the REPUTATIOn
sc2 will be how much longer there ? 5 years ? 10 ? if you do a matchfixing in one tournament you will be lifetime hated and banned you will be kicked from your team and all that stuff ... no this will not happen man ... look savior and what it does to him
sure you can still say "jaeh but he can play worse if he is already etc" but the players have today more self marketing then team marketing. a win is importent for sponsors etc etc a lose even to a teammate can be a huge dumper
and the chance a player not give 100% after hes out or trough well you will have this problem not only vs teammates but in leagues you will always have this problem. soccer and every other sport as well its just the reputation in the players and ther profiness not to do this

Although I'll miss some of those Koreans that didn't end up playing simply because when I watch I know how skilled they are, I actually find this player list way more compelling and potentially entertaining.
My personal "Korean Fanboyism" is limited to some extent because you really don't get to see the Korean players often enough to develop that type of fan connection. If your favorite Korean player is knocked out of the GSL you might not see him even play for a month.
When I think of my list of favorite players to watch, I probably have to go 4-5 deep before I get to JulyZerg. Most of the players on the list they have for this season are very active in the community, players I've watched since the very start, and from all over the world. The entertainment value for me is going to be much higher with this player list than what it would have been with all the Koreans. Plus I think this setup has the potential to create some more rivalries and storylines.
These guys did a good job with what could have been a messy situation. Sorta wish everyone would take a deep breath and see what NASL brings to the table this season. I think it will be pretty good.

No Stephano and Nerchio makes me sad.
Oh well but I guess they had to give Haypro and Tyler a second chance.

shit just flew right over your head eh?
ps. I find it really hard to get stoked about the NASL. Theres over a dozen koreans who would completely steamroll this entire player list. I just cant get excited about watching minor league action when theres so many other tournies out there that actually have the BEST players in the world competing.

The last match is Tim against Tom with Tim beeing in the first place undefeated and already qualified to advance and Tom just needs one win to also advance. Now we have also [asdf]-Tam (yeah, sry about the names) who is qualified if Tom loses his next match. If Tim now plays extreamly sloppy against Tom and Tom wins the match, guess what Tam, his Team and all his fans will say, whether the sloppy play is intentional or not.

Last 5: DeMuslim, Moonglade, Idra, Vibe, Ret.
Apparently only 40 in this season which seems odd. I would have thought they would've filled all 50 slots. There's certainly players with greater skill than some in the league who'd love to be in.
Nice to see DeMuslim in though, he did great at MLG.

Well if you would go back a couple of pages you would know the reason why.

Outside of GSL which other tournaments have managed to get the "BEST IN THE WORLD" constantly competing? This is a pretty damn good list, no tournament outside the GSL has gotten all the best together either.
I would compare it to watching college football vs. the NFL in my mind. Both are equally entertaining. There are plenty of good players and accomplished players on the list, there are Koreans, Swedes, Players training in Korea etc. Sounds to me anything less than the GSL would leave you unsatisfied.
The funny thing is, I bet if we took high level matches from Season 2 of the NASL, and matches from this season of the GSL and made someone watch and didn't tell them that one was the NASL and one was the GSL you wouldn't know the difference. Some of the "minor leaguers" have given us the most entertaining games ever. The GSL hasn't even produced an entertaining finals yet. Sometimes to the point I find watching Korean players boring. I appreciate the skill level and precision, but mistakes and imperfect play also lead to some of the best SC2 games ever. That compared to watching 2 Koreans and its like, "Oh he made one extra drone at the 4 minute mark and that is why he lost at the 10 minute mark."

Really like the lineup of players taking place of the Koreans, honestly I find myself being more interested in NASL now with the recent influx of top NA/EU players... maybe it's because I follow the NA/EU scene more and know the players better, but yeah, looking like there will be some amazing games.
|
i'm pleased with the line up, i do regret BoxeR and NaDa not returning though, they usually produce some pretty entertaining games
|
nice line up excited to see how dimaga does i feel like he has potential to win it all, disappointed they didnt invite Stephano who in my opinion is the best foreigner atm.

Yay MoMan is in :D He was one of the guys that did better than expected in season one, happy to see him back
|
Am I the only one who wanted to see Artosis again? And by god, it's been ages since I've seen Day[9] play.. Would be cool if NASL or some other small tourney would organize a sc2 caster/commentator/icon division. One can dream..
|
so my fears were true... no GoOdy... <.<
Sorry, if though this site is teamliquid, I just cannot understand why you would include Tyler or Haypro over him. Okay, Tyler won a set more than him and Haypros game difference is one point better than his. But they were in three different groups so you cannot really compare that so in detail. On the other hand, NASL has stated that they do consider recent results (see qxc, softball, etc) and GoOdy's recent results outshine the other two by far.
