Fair enough saying their league and they can do what they want, which is what 90% of tournaments are like and after wc3(where the same players awlays got invited). I hope sc2 becomes a much fairer game where up and coming players can try and qualify!!!

I agree with this, he paid to enter the qualifying tournament of which he was knocked out of by the koreans who then pulled out. NASL then just invited players who they wanted. Doesn't seem fair on players trying to make a name for themselves when the more populars are just prioritised

I'm a Demuslim fan but he hasn't really posted results lately, so i guess it would be understandable to not invite him.I still hope he does get a spot though.

Also, this tourney needs Goody!

Demuslim has a sick ladder record though. I hope he gets an invite.

Are they seriously giving random reasons for the invites? lol...

These aren't really invites =P The only person who was invited really was HuK... everyone else played in the qualifying tournaments or were season 1 players.

http://binarybeast.com/xSC21106163/info#brackets

yea what about inka ? I don't see him in the qualifiers ? God NASL why can't you do things the right way..

PS: and I don't mean this to be a dick to you inka I just hope NASL will do things the right way for season 3...

Inka played in the open tournament and was one game away from qualifying into season 2. Maybe you should read their articles.

http://binarybeast.com/xSC21105303

thats not one game away ... =/ NASL being shady like always

I believe initially top 8 of both the open tournament and the qualifiers would qualify for season 2. As you can see in the bracket, inka made it to the round of 16, so he was 1 set or perhaps even 1 literal game away from qualifying.

Of course, later on they changed the rules because they were reducing the player count for season 2 - so only the top 4 were guaranteed spots for season 2 while players 5-8 were put on hold. However, if my memory is correct, after those initial few players declined returning to season 2 (Boxer, Thorzain, Naniwa, etc.) I believe most if not all the players in rank 5-8 were accepted - so inka was literally 1 set and perhaps even 1 game (the bracket doesn't list the score of the of set he played in the round of 16) away from qualifying.

The 2nd qualifier should have been replayed because all the koreans who signed up and knocked out "foreigners" ended up not participating in the league. You could almost say the same for the Open tournament but the koreans wanted to the 16th seed/be in the playoffs it's really disappointing and a qualifier takes 1 or 2 days to host. NASL is just being lazy

Even if it did take 1-2 days to host, it takes upwards of 2 weeks to plan. If your goal is to stay as close to the original schedule as possible with a 2 week delay, you don't have an extra 2 weeks for planning.

The only alternative solution is to deviate from the original schedule, which would make the finals run into holiday time, making it an inconvenience for everybody both financially and time-wise.

it doesn't take 2weeks to plan a qualifier you are crazy.... yes NASL is shady and lazy and is not doing this the right way

I'm glad you know how to run the NASL, desrow. There's so much that goes into running this league that you have no idea about, there's no way we could run a qualifier. Thanks for your expert opinion though.

There will be many opportunities to qualify for Season 3 and everyone will get their fair share.

Yea I heard contacting 20+ people to invite them is a lot harder than hosting a qualifier that takes a day or two, espicially when you're trying to contact chinese players and such..

SEASON 1 was invite SEASON 2 is invite with 7-8players who qualified for it but DON'T WORRY season 3 WILL BE LEGITIMATE and will have qualifiers HOW WONDERFUL !

PS: Don't worry I'm not the only one who is disgusted by how NASL is acting. People are just too busy going to MLG / lazy to bother and whine. When things aren't done right, if you don't complain it will never be fixed.

Do you even think before you post? You act like they didn't just have 14 players pull out at the last minute. And you need more than 2 days for a qualifier. They need to notify players that a qualifier would be held with a minimum of a one week notice. Then add the tournament time. Also you are ignoring all the production that must be done for each player in the league. Not to mention everything else nasl has to do before the season starts. They can't afford to delay it any further and if you don't think qualifiers wouldn't delay it almost another two weeks, well then you are really naive.

And its funny how you call nasl lazy, shady and are disgusted by them when I've seen threads on tl about how you've screwed over your students for coaching.

I kind of agree they deserve a refund if NASL wants to go the route they went with inviting players.

He paid for a chance at getting a spot. If the Koreans pulled out, the spots should have went to others within the qualifiers themselves. I mean they did pay for the chance to make it. Just because now invalid players beat them to claim the spots does not mean they don't still deserve that chance.

If anything, they could have finished the previous qualifiers by having whoever the now invalid players beat advance in lieu of the Korean who did. (Fictitious example: If DesRow lost to Boxer in Round 1. Instead Desrow would replay the round 2 match against whoever Boxer beat in round 2. And so on.) This would have let them finish the replaying a lot faster and kept the people who qualified from the actual qualifiers.

goody was in the last season and didn't manage to requalify. For the sake of having even a bit of a fair tournament I hope they don't invite him (and ofc all the others who fell out of season 1)

NASL took people's money for a S2 qualifier tournament. Now they are just randomly inviting people who will get them more viewers. I think Desrow has every right to complain if he paid money and participated in that tournament

The prize of that tournament was top 8 = invite.
Was he top 8? Does he deserve the prize?

I can understand that it is somewhat unfair, because the winners of that tournament aren't coming. But when the winner of a tournament doesn't take his prize, it always goes to somebody who ended second, not the guy who got beaten in an early round by the winner.

I'm not saying he's right or wrong I am saying he has every reason to complain and feel like he got ripped off. Maybe NASL couldn't feasibly rerun the tournament, or open up registrations again. If I were NASL I would probably have opted for the latter since more people would likely register now that they won't get crushed by Koreans
