I'm really curious about the "undisclosed training house" where Puma, Idra and Huk are gonna go to... They're probably gonna join a Korean team's house like Liquid with oGs, I hope it's IM ! (or Slayers but it seems less likely to me)

This kinda reminds me of the big soccer teams such as "Bayern München".

They "simply" buy their good players with lots of money, and people don't like them for that. No talent building involved, just a lot of money.

Can't argue with the players that want the money. Can't argue with the club if it works for them. Still leaves a bad taste

The difference being in Football, at least the other clubs get good money for their player to invest back into the squad and infrastructure. I doubt Liquid have made a lot if anything at all developing HuK with his contract being so close to running out.

What exactly should Liquid "make"? A player's purpose is to provide his team with as much exposure and as many achievements as possible. I believe HuK did that. It's not his responsibility to turn this into money, that's what you have managers for.

The actual difference is that football contracts have a longer duration than esports contracts.

Don't generalize "football" as how all pro-sports work. In the NBA and NFL teams lose players at absolutely no gain when their contracts tick, and neither sport generally trades players for monetary considerations. If a player isn't going to sign a new contract with the team, they generally get forced into a position where they have to find a trading partner. If not, they lose their player for nothing. TL was forced into a position where they accepted the only thing they could as Huk was choosing not to sign a contract with TL, traded him for money (EG buying out his contract).

Football (soccer) contracts work the same way basically. The OP was mistaken or overlooking this fact.

I wasn't mistaken at all, i'm well aware at how Football contracts work thanks considering i work within the industry. Which is why i said i doubt they got much if anything with his contract being so close to renewal. That's why football clubs renew contracts a lot earlier. The less time left on a contract, the less valuable the player is to the club.

I even said if you check my post history that the only thing TL could have done is sign him to a new contract earlier before it was so close to renewal or make him sign a longer one previous but that i don't think we've gotten anywhere close to that level yet.

I really doubt it, but I also figured HuK would never leave Liquid so anything is possible

Naniwa already is in Korea.

Kinda of heartbroken Huk left.. Not much else to say.

This means:

- EG teamhouse USA will lose their best player.
- HuK wil prob. have way less training partners.
- Liquid loses the foreigner hope.
- EG challenges FXO in terms of biggest budget team. ^^

Many pros have practice partners on different times. If you read the interviews from the previous GSL seasons you would see this noted in all the thank you's... You guys act like after all the time huk was in the OGS house suddenly he's banned on sight.

I give you that, but it is still different. For example when it comes to preparing strategies for specific games. I don't have the inside, so I am just guessing. But it has often been said that the solidarity in a team is very strong in Korea.

The horseman has fallen.

I guess EG learned their lesson and contacted Nazgul before talking to HuK. I see how it is. It would have been cool for HuK to stay with Liquid' longer, but a business is a business and if that's how EG wants to play this game then so be it. I really hope EG treats HuK well and I hope HuK can keep up with his training regime and not lose his great potential that was sparked by oGs-TL.

HuK fighting!

I can't wait to see how this develops. I think Idra is the biggest winner thus far but also the biggest question mark. He'll need to catch up to the skill level of Huk and Puma in terms of playing in the Korean scene.

I assume that EG will compete in the team league at some point, I mean why wouldn't they? They would have to recruit or send more players, I'm interested to see who those are. I'd like to see at least one or two more Korean players, especially a Korean zerg. I don't know if Incontrol or any other foreign players have plans to come to Korea. It's too bad Thorzain already signed with Mouz.

Huk leaving TL makes sense to me but I don't yet see why he would leave OGS and playing alongside the most accomplished Protoss in the GSL. But I guess we'll see

Edit: I still think the way this was announced was totally unnecessary. But I have to love the move by EG, and Huk. They're taking serious steps to make foreigners and foreign teams more competitive on a global scale. It's unfortunate that more of TL's players didn't stick around in Korea, but it's not for everyone. I think Huk and the rest of TL were on a different page.

It will be nice to see HuK, IdrA, and Puma to be playing Korea.

I don't understand why everyone is so upset about HuK leaving. Sure, it sucks to have your team lose one of it's star players, but honestly, I watch esports for the players, not so much the teams.

Also, somebody needs to make an Odd Couple picture with Idra and HuK. I can't photoshop.

omfg am I the only one looking forward to this? -_- Why can't you love Huk as a person/player. If you are a fan of TL, that makes sense, but whether or not he plays for EG doesn't matter- he is the same.

What all of you complaining about poaching want is eternal stagnation. Players never move, never synergize with different people and develop new stratgies with new minds. That people can say EG doesn't have the best players and complain that they are buying them in the same breath is illogical- they are a massive organization that wants acclaim from its good players- its natural and mutually beneficial when it buys new players.

And as for IdrA returning to Korea, that will be the most fun of all. With all the people's toes he has stepped on, it will be fun- especially as Clide had apologized and GOM had given him a funeral.
Remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

I am a little bit disappointed but good luck to EG in Korea I guess.

I just hope Team Liquid can recover from this and become stronger than ever. Nazgul handled that exemplary, no cheap parting shots.
