Now add in the opportunity cost: travel and preparation for this = less time to practice and focus on other tournaments (GSL/GSTL for example) Try to understand it from the Korean's pov. Please browse the thread before posting, NASL posted the exact costs already and its under by around $300. So its a 1/16 chance for a ton of money.

This was already covered in this post On August 12 2011 08:41 Bumblebee wrote: What are you talking about? I'm managing Team Liquid and I can tell you that the planetickets cost around 1200 $ for a return ticket. Hotel during the event wouldn't be more than 400$ and then you can eat and drink for less than 50$ a day. What's the problem here? 2000 $ is more than sufficient to cover all costs. I think the larger point here which may be flying over peoples heads is SC2Con is probably trying to squeeze out NASL.

You were the CHOSEN one! You were supposed to be the good alternative to KeSPA, not become them! Hopefully, something will be worked out past the last minute, as there are quite a few excellent players withdrawing. Nevertheless, the remaining players in NASL are all still quite good.

This has been refuted by both the TL manager and the NASL itself, both of which paid for ticket+expenses for multiple players. Their quotes are in this thread.

If it's pretty much guaranteed that you are going to win 40K, why would you expect to be paid? There are non koreans who know they can't win if Koreans are here that will pay their own money to show up anyways. I am not liking SC2con much right now. I may not be fully informed, and I'm not saying SC2con is terrible and always will be terrible, but right now, I'm not feeling very positive about it. Well look at this... whos better? Who has the power to say, my scene is far superior to your scene and I have the power to do so. The Koreans. NASL wants them. and they did not give an attractive bait. Simple as that.

They purchased the tickets for season one grand finals for $1,192. It shouldn't cost over $2k for everything else. Teams should have to pay out of pocket for travel expenses. Its a huge reason why players join teams, so they don't pay for it themselves.

NASL has done a good job of trying to accommodate the Korean teams, but I for one will be looking at this with hopeful eyes. I'm quite eager to see the new roaster :D

I've spoken to him extensively about this issue and others, and I consider him a friend of mine. He has tried to argue our case to the Korean teams. He has been nothing but helpful. Please, show your respect to GOMTV and Mr.Chae, they're truly trying to help make eSports more global! <3 Mr.Chae Nice defense. Anyway, I think inviting the other top Foreigners like Mana, Dimaga, winners of the Blizzard Invitationals by region, etc. will give more names the opportunity to shine, boost their confidence, etc. We already have exposure on Korean players from GSL, so having the NASL to give exposure to more Americans is a good thing. MLG Open Brackets are exciting, should have more of that in NASL if possible, so more teams can make a name for themselves.
