The reason you may not like that business "excuse" is because that's simply the truth that you have no argument against. And your MLG comparison doesn't hold up. MLG Dallas was 3 days of crap that was fixed in 2 months at Columbus. People HATED MLG after Dallas during those 2 months and doubted Columbus could be good. They don't expect things to improve until they actually do. NASL showed 3 months of crap and being unwilling to make changes and all signs pointing to Season 2 not being much better, especially with the lack of Koreans. Your definition of fan must be different from mine. I'm talking about someone who sticks with something or someone through both the good and bad times and actually cares about their success. By caring about the success of NASL you not only benefit the tournament but all the players who participate, and the scene as a whole. I'm not talking merely about a consumer, which is what you appear to be (and why you keep talking about business), who just shops around for the best they can get at the time. My comparison wasn't actually a direct one between NASL and MLG as tournaments and more about the fans, but the fact you're comparing NASL to MLG to show NASL in a negative light exemplifies what ridiculous people they're dealing with in those flame-filled threads. Some people here need a sense of perspective, it will take much more than 3 months for a startup to match the likes of MLG. lol.

Does anyone else have the feeling theres more behind this decision than is known to the public so far? Other forces at play here? I wont mention what it is but it seems kind of obvious to me.

They have no problem going to MLGs, but have an issue with NASL? To answer your question: MLG never had the production/management/and technical problems to the scale of NASL. MLG is a short commitment that doesn't boil over into other commitments when something goes wrong. MLG actively participates with GOM and Korea to set up optimal programs for Koreans and Foreigners alike to attend both GSL and MLG for the betterment of each other and esports. on the other hand NASL repeatedly showed disregard for technical and scheduling difficulties for Koreans NASL is a long term commitment that has already shown itself to conflict with other events including more prestigious ones. NASL (to my knowledge) does not actively participate with GOM and Korea to work out optimal programs for both leagues, at least not to the extent of MLG. Still so disgusted by the Koreans? On August 12 2011 19:56 Janders wrote: wow you gave them good offers and still they refure and your right its not like they wont be able to at least most of them or the best, get to the Ro16 Because for most of them, it's not worth the 3 months of headache to try and get to Ro16 where they will face mostly Koreans again. Especially since 8 of those players are going to go home with basically nothing. Top 16 get $1000 winnings + $1000 stipend which barely covers travel costs. Only top 8 make more. Going home with nothing (actually less than nothing since the team/sponsors/players have to pay for their own fare) is standard for like 80-90% of pro players going to a tournament. I don't believe the tournament is obligated to pay for players to come there, even the 500 dollar travel stipend they had in season 1 was special compared to most other tournaments. How many koreans have gone to the two MLG so far that didn't have their travel paid by a MLG/GOM or a foreign team? I can only think of Ganzi and Alicia (July got his from CSN, Choya from FXO, the other 8 in pool play from MLG/GOM). Going home with nothing is fine if you didn't put up with 3 months of BS before hand. The stipend is a lot compared to other tournaments because other tournaments don't take up 3 months of your time and (if you're Korean), stack the odds against you. When you're doing NASL, you have to schedule 3 months around NASL so you don't screw up preparation for that and make it back on time for every weekly b/o3. MLG is free because of partnerships with GOM and private partnerships between teams. It's like saying nani/thorz/sjow/sase all get to go to code A for free. The partnerships work both ways. There exists no such partnership for NASL. If going home with nothing is fine if it's only a single tournament, then why have only 2 koreans in MLG had their fares paid for by a korean team (there will be 2 more in next MLG I think)? Why aren't there 30-50 koreans in every single MLG open bracket? I think a lot of it is economy. And that's completely fine, if they don't think it's worth it (or they can't afford it on their own) then it's not worth it for them.

Sad news about it, but I mean if they don't want to play a bo3 (?) a week at an odd hour and then get a free ride to the finals if they make it, it's their choice, shouldn't be up to Sc2's KeSPA

The silver lining here is 1-2-3-4 is bound to be Puma-Rain-Hero, etc. Nada MC included if they participate. This will make other Koreans want to join foreign teams, to break themselves of the SC2Con, which I think will make all of this turn out alright.

Even for people like you who love foreigners so much, don't you want them to get better? You get better by playing better players, and the best players right now are Korean. By far.

Who cares where the players are from, seriously. Get the guys with the most skill and the fans will watch. I don't admire Koreans, or Americans or Swed's. I admire micro and macro. no its just you see koreans on that leven often inGSL and seeing kor vs kor isnt that best

These aren't "good times and bad times", this is ONE tournament. I think that as a fan, if this tournament is not doing things you think are the right way to do things, it's actually your duty as a fan to give support to tournaments you think ARE doing things the right way. Nowhere in my definition of a fan does a fan support something they think is bad. You're making the assumption that all "true" SC2 fans think NASL is good for e-sports. They don't. And my response to your comparison was about fan response. Surprise, if fans think something sucks, they'll say it sucks. They said MLG sucked when it sucked. They said it was good when it became good. The same applies for NASL, no special treatment. They'll say NASL sucks if they think it does. And they'll keep saying it until they feel that it has stopped sucking, or it folds.
