MC will be replacing MKP, due to scheduling issues.
Only seven days until Intel Extreme Masters will officially start into its sixth season at the Global Challenge Cologne. While all European, American, Chinese and South-East Asian players had been determined via qualifiers some weeks ago, four participants of the StarCraft II tournament were still unknown until now. It's time to raise the curtain, here are our invites from Korea, which resulted from a cooperation with the Korean GSL. ...
Wow, I just realized I clicked through to an esl website and got all the information I wanted without going through a labyrinth of links. I can't believe Mana is still not getting auto invited to these things, he just took 2nd at Assembly.
I'm really hoping some more Korean zergs and protoss can hit the scene that way we can stop having so many terran invites at foreign events. Terrans have up and coming players like MMA, Ryung, and Keen to go along with the established Terrans like Nada, MVP and MKP. Zergs and Protoss only have DRG and Puzzle as up and coming players. After those two there's not much hope imo for the Zerg and Protoss players on the rise.

No one got auto-invites, except for Korean inhabitants. We have determined the Korean invitations in close cooperation with GSL who made it possible for the players to attend schedule-wise.
MKP :DDDDD. Nice invites, hope he will be able to win this tournament and do well in code A at the same time. But his group is the hardest, Stephano was the best ZvT and probably is still (hard to say now that he is boss in the 3 match-ups), SaSe will be a bit more prepared and MaNa took a map of Bomber (on terminus but still).
So does this mean that for those who haven't played in the RO32 for the GSL yet have their group rescheduled if there's a conflict (Like in HuK's case?)

Look at MKP. His Code A Match would be only 1 day after IEM Finals. Assuming he advances in both of them there's no way he can make it in time.
OMG I go to Gamescom next week, I really hope MKP comes and crushes everyone. I had hoped I am gonna see some good Korean Terrans there but if I see MKP IRL I am just gonna FLIP OUT DAMN!!!

yeah if MKP advances to the ro4 in code A, he's gonna have some serious jet lag even if his flights are perfectly on time.

sleep on the flight = no problem
jetlag is overrated, at least IMO. i've had to fly a lot back-to-back and it really hasn't bothered me to much. some people are just babies about it
MKP seems like a stud and a half, i'm sure he'll perform fine

yeah I knew some people who can sleep on planes and some people who can't. for me, it's random, sometimes I sleep the entire way and other times I can't sleep at all even with sleeping pills.
WoW, the Lineup is pretty awesome. But would have liked to see DIMAGA against MarineKing, but Stephano is nearly as good, so should be some epic games.

Stephano is far better ZvT than Dimaga. He only lost one match in two months, against ThorZain.
I'll be really curious to see if Huk dominates his group the way that I can assume MKP will. I think it will come down to Huk v Nerchio, but I don't know how good Tarson is. I'll also follow Stephano but I think its a serious long shot against any top Korean like MKP. Maybe he can take one game though
Edit: I noticed some people are offended because the foreigners are being overlooked (GSL Spoiler) + Show Spoiler +
but after code A last night, there just isn't a whole lot of optimism going around.
Stop with this fanboy attitude with Stephano srsly... I'm french and i love Stephano but french fanboys are the most annoying fanboys ive ever seen lol
I'm hoping for a Sangho win myself. Always gotta root for the ex-bw guys. Although a Korean or Huk victory is highly likely, I'm most interested in seeing how Nerchio and Stephano stack up. Both players are highly ranked in international ELO and have beaten all the best foreigners before, but have almost no games played against Koreans.
Good invites. I need to get an autograph from MKP. Want to see my older brothers and his wives faces when i run behind a little korean boy begging for an autograph :-p

Means absolutely zero. He's playing Koreans.
I know that it won't mean he will win, but he is probably the zerg (european one) with the most chance since he has the best record zvt these past two months. So it'll be pretty interesting

he didnt get an invite duh, he qualified from the sea qualifiers cos he won it. thats why hes there
Group A = Evil Empire Double team kill for the loss.
Also for anyone wondering why there are 3 terrans in group A
It was unavoidable after there turned out to be 2 Terrans from Korea, because HuK, our first confirmed player from Korea, added the condition to his confirmation that he could only start on day 2. ~ Storch League Operations
Finally, the moment we've all been waiting for.... MKP overseas!! I'm so excited to see him tear up his group. Truthfully, it won't even be close. MKP recently destroyed Sase, and somehow I doubt Stephano has the ZvT to rival MKP's TvZ.

This seems about right except I think Sase can probably advance instead of MKP or Mana, hard to predict. Both Mana's and Sase's PvT is pretty boss tho so I dunno if MKP will make it.
clearly you didn't watch Code A earlier, Koreans own white dudes.
GSL and this tournament is really different. The Koreans had prepared for the games yesterday while the foerigners hadn't practiced in weeks. Sold their apartments, MLG Anaheim, Assembly, Battle.net invitational, CPL and they only got there the day before so I wouldn't base all foreigners chances on that. Besides they all (except for maybe Jinro, dunno much about him) played their worst matchups. Mana and Sase are beasts in PvT so I think MKP will defo have his work cut out for him. Remember that Mana beat Nada in Assembly.

Yeah I know I watched that, I still think Sase has a chance against him when MKP is jetlagged and Sase has practiced in Korea for a while. Also, right before that series Sase's keyboard broke and he had to play on a new one, I think that was the main reason his control was so poor in that series. If you compare his forcefield placement from that series and his Code A game you'll see a pretty big difference-
If you really looked into why he lost he you could see that he had all the right ideas. He did set up flanks and so on but he just couldn't control it very well. I think he would put up a much better fight with his new keyboard ^_^

If nothing else, MKP can always 1-1-1 if he's not feeling confident in his TvP, so I'd say he's a sure bet to make it out of his group.

First the tournament is in one week so he would not have that much practice. And except game 3 it was not his control that cost him the games... Game 2 it was complete successful mindgame and game 1 he gave away his strat.

I guess we'll see what happens in a week then ^_^ I didn't know it was so soon, although I think that he had to be a bit tilted playing on a totally different keyboard. It's hard to stay on top of your game in that situation I would imagine.
Woo mkp in a foreign tourney! He's been struggling against koreans lately but mkp still eats foreigners for breakfast, so I expect his only competition will be puma and huk.
It's nice to be optimistic about the foreigner chances in this tournament but the fanboys are quite annoying. Yes alot of these players are good in Europe but you can't take Stephano's or Sase's record to seriously due to the fact that alot of the hype comes from their online results against European competition. Have they won any major LAN event like a Dreamhack, IEM or MLG? LAN's are completely different since foreigners have not proved themselves and there's been plenty of opportunities (MLG, Dreamhack, IEM finals, NASL etc etc). As of now the fanboys need to halt their urges of hypeing X European or foreigner players until the foreigners start proving themselves. As of right now it is almost common sense to believe Koreans will dominate IEM Cologne especially with strong invitees.
You guys take care of MKP now, treat him like royalty( ha ha ha) No but seriously, it's his first foreigner tournament, cheer for him as loud as you can!
How come there are 3 terrans in group A? Didnt they want to mix the races of the Korans up so that there isnt such a high concentration of races in one group?

And with last sentence you show the same thing you dislike in your first paragraph. Yes, he has pretty big chance of crushing that group. But it is definitely not certain. Especially MKP, he has this strange lows in his play sometimes, and if Mana plays as well as he does lately and MKP slips, there might be upset. It is not like there were no upsets against Koreans ever, especially after travelling far. See the quoted Mana vs Nada series, if Nada played like today he would have in my opinion won, but he did not, same can happen to MKP.

Mana got second at both Assembly and DH winter and beat players such as Huk and Nada at Assembly. Lost to Dimaga in the finals which is no shame considering that PvZ is his worst matchup.
Sase got second at Chinese Pro League and crushed his group at DH Summer (5-0) consisting of Idra, Grubby, Merz, Naama and Kas. Lost to Sen tho in the Ro16 which is no shame considering that PvZ is his worst matchup.
That's not LAN results enough? If you don't follow anything else than MLG you should really not try to talk about the EU scene.
People don't realise how difficult it is to defeat MKP without playing a few games against him prior. There are tiers of MKP greatness which transcends his play, and a player must be able to defeat all tiers to defeat him.
The first tier is his cheese and all in play. MKP has the best micro in the world, and the best Terran all inner. He cheeses a lot in the Korean ladder and dominates it. If you cannot defeat his all in play, you do not deserve a macro game from him. This was shown evidently by his match against SaSe, where he cheesed 3 games in a row because SaSe could not deal with it. Notice players like HuK have defeated his dreaded 3 rax, and so in the future, I bet MKP won't try and all in Huk. Unfortunately, after watching many of his games in the NASL qualifiers and random online tournaments, it just seems that very few can defeat his all in play and so do not deserve a macro game as they are wasting his time.

He is talking about Stephano and Sase, and you mention Mana. Well, Mana beat Huk, but it was PvP and PvP is very volatile, look at Naniwa, Huk and MC, they've been beating each other. But MC and Huk are still slightly ahead Naniwa when it comes to PvZ. Also Mana beat Nada, but this time his opponent is MKP, and MKP is better than Nada. About Sase, plz dont list a bunch of EU names and Idra, when his opponent is MKP. (*cough* MVPSniper *cough*)

Stephano is the best player in Europe in ZvT, MaNa is sick good PvT and PvT is also SaSe's best matchup, he got the hardest group and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets knocked out.

Don't people realize that it's different playing a Zerg and a Terran? Some players are better at certain matchups so you can't say that because he lost to Sniper he can't beat MKP because MKP would beat Sniper. That's not how it works.
Also I'm not so sure MKP is better than Nada. The last time they met Nada won and Nada is the most consistent SC2 progamer really while MKP is currently in Code A.

This post is so true. MKP's play is a double edged sword for him. In foreign tournies such as fxo opens and the china tourney, he can 1 base his way to victory because it's pretty hard to stop.
However, I'm a huge MKP fan as he's my fav player but this success also hurts him because you can't 1 base your way through gsl which is part of the reason for his gsl slump. He crushes foreigners with his 1 base timings, but it's teaching him bad habits that don't translate well to gsl.
For MKP to evolve as a player I do believe he needs to break from his habit of 1 basing and become a mass expander like MVP. However, he's won 2 fxo opens and the china tourney with that play because foreigners can't stop it, but it's also hurting his improvement.
I want MKP to win, but in his current state, I think puma would have the edge on him if they met.
Must take off work, drop everything, and attend. This is like... monumental, the most stylistic player (probably where 70%+ of Terran opening originate from) is coming overseas.
EDIT: This is the dude that held an unscouted two-gate proxy in his base, while expanding. No sweat.
By lucky coincidence I will be in amsterdam with my car on the weekend of the 17th, just 3h from cologne when this is going on, but how on earth does it work?
I buy a ticket for the whole gamescom at their website, and the IEM is just a section of the expo centre I can go to?
Also, I am wondering for any cologne residents, can I just drive into the centre and park there for free? I looked at the gamescom website and it didn't mention any prices or bookings, or problems with the congestion zone?
I really cannot wait to experience this, there is no esport scene in the UK so this is a brilliant twist of fate ^^
stephano is good and all, but the dude is SO overrated as an underdog. I mean Nerchio is WAY better. I mean he has the highest winrate in grandmasters right now too

You do realize that grand master league just got on today, right ? You can't really take this as a certification for Nerchio's domination.
Group D is hard to predict. MKP should come out on top, but Mana's PvT is good enough to take their series. But then you have Stephano, who's ZvP is good and either Protoss could take the PvP, especcially if a week in Korea turns SaSe in to a mega gosu. I can't see MKP not beating at least SaSe and Stephano to take 1st place, but 2nd place could go to anyone.
PuMa getting Idra is just a rite of passage of that all EG members must go through.
I'm really glad to see a player we don't see often like Killer there, though Ace coming back to try to get another IEM victory would have been better imo. Either way, great invites.

The whole Gamescom will take place in the five biggest "hangars" (I call them hangars becasuse the are really large) with the ESL having their promotial area in hangar 9 (you can see a map of the convention area on the gamescom page). There will be a big stage where all the games will be played. There are many large parking areas all around the convention area. One day parking tickets cost 5€ (They at least did in '09 and '10, so I assume there will be no change). I always visit the Gamescom, because it is such an amazing experience for every gamer! And I can not wait for this years trip to come ... That is when I look back at last year, where I was able to speak with NaDa which all alone did just pay for itself^^

Nerchio just got owned at his first LAN, while Stephano got third place, only losing to Dimaga in a ZvZ. But, I mean, Dimaga hasn't beat anyone special in a ZvZ before.
Wow looking forward to see Killer compete in the foreign scene! I am predicting HuK to take this tournament. and if he doesn't I hope the top placing foreigners will consider competing in GSL and MLG.

nawww, DIMAGA sucks at ZvZ. he hasnt played anyone good either. i mean, nestea? he sucks.
Tourny looks pretty sick. Calling Idra/Puma, Select/Sangho, Moonglade/Huk & Sase/MKP to advance from the groups (Idra mainly because he has only ZvT). MKP or Puma could seriously demolish this tournament, two of the strongest Korean terrans up against a bunch of foreigners and korean protoss. Scary stuff.
I'm really curious how Puma will perform. I may be wrong, but hasn't he been living by himself now since joining EG? I wonder if the suboptimal practice conditions will effect his play.

He has been practicing with his friends in TSL still.
Group D is just so so hard to predict, even if Stephano is a beast, he's not unbeatable and anyone can go throught this group. Btw i just can't wait too see how a terran beat stephano in a macro game, because i didn't see this in months i follow this zerg.

Please god have Rotterdam and either TLO or Mr Bitters.
For those that aren't gigantic fans on day9 (I dont hate him or anything childish), I really wish he doesn't get a monopoly on all major broadcasts, I like to see people develop their own casters (like Rotti at ESL) rather than just throwing money and getting a known brand.

Stephano can't handle MKP's early game so the games will be finished before the 10 minute mark. But as we have seen @HSC he will probably don't leave early. So you won't see a macro game

Even though I like his play and think it's awsome that he participates.

This is just awesome! This is only a 2 hour drive for me, Well worth the drive imho. So is this at gamescom itself? Is there a schedule of what rounds will be played when? So excited ^^

No - since Day9 is supposed to be live casting the After Hours Gaming stuff on the 17th from a venue in America, and Apollo has said on twitter he won't be, and that ESL have hired Mr Bitters... its pretty obvious they'll be using Rotterdam and Mr Bitter - with perhaps TLO subbing in and out for breaks, since he's said he's going to be there (even though not a player).
And yes this'll be at GamesCom - I'll be there for sure, looking forward to it
Sucks no mkp, but the dates made it so it would have been very difficult to attend if he made it far in code A. MC is a great replacement though as it's always great to see him at foreign tournies.
I thought MC was going to stay in Korea to become good again? He has lost his bosstoss/protoss president title slipping below Puzzle and Yongwa in elo ranking and lost 7 of last 9 better stay at home and practice.

I think he said he wouldn't go for a couple months and it's been a couple...plus he was a replacement and he's already out of GSL...I think going to a foreign tourney and gaining some confidence could help. Plus I don't think mindlessly beating his head against terran at this point will help him when all protoss are struggling.

It has not been a couple months. NASL was just a month ago and he said it takes him a full week after trip/jet lag to get back into practice. So 3 weeks he's been practicing.
Edit to your edit. If you have watched his latest games he's playing poorly. No confidence will be had only rust.

Metagame didn't matter, NesTea lost to a timing attack and a 10pool
