When WoL was released I had gone in to pick up my midnight copy and I was thoroughly disappointed to hear that I could not change my pre-order to a pre-order of the collectors edition. (I didn't even know that each had separate pre-orders).
Now this would be all fine and dandy except that I will never get that in-game Thor model and I will never get that Devoted Fan achievement.
What I propose is that instead of adding an achievement similar to this one for HotS, Blizzard should just give owners of the Collectors edition HotS the same achievement- Devoted Fan.
Does anyone feel the same way? Or should those confessed and those in-the-closet achievement whores have to go out and buy all three collectors editions for their respective Feat of Strength achievements?
Poll: Should Devoted Fan be an achievement for all SC2 Collectors Editions? No (76) 70% Yes (32) 30% 108 total votes Your vote: Should Devoted Fan be an achievement for all SC2 Collectors Editions? (Vote): Yes (Vote): No
Edit: Perhaps this should go in the singleplayer subsection; if a mod sees fit then please change that for me!

I think you like Starcraft a bit too much for your own good.

I don't really see why it matters...I'm Blizzard would be fine with it though
|
i think it made sense for WoL since it was the first game, the opener to starcraft 2 but maybe not so much for the next 2 expansions

If you were truly a devoted fan you would have gone to a different store or made an extra preorder. Never give up when it comes to collector's editions :D
|
Anyone who wants them achievements says yes. Anyone else says no, because they either want to piss the first group of people of or because it doesn't make sense to give WoL Devoted Fan and 3rd Exp. Devoted Fan achievements for people who have a HotS collectors edition or because they know it will never happen anyway.
What I would really want but won't happen either is the possibility to upgrade your standard versions to collectors versions for $5 - only online of course without all the physical extras a collectors box would actually have given you.

Edit: I think OP should add a poll option for "It doesn't matter to me."

I don't really care one way or the other, but I don't see why not. If you get HotS Collectors, you did the same thing required to get the achievement from WoL. I could see them maybe adding a second achievement just for HotS, in which case you'd be sol.
|
Where is the "I don't care about achievements" option?
|
HotS should have its own collectors edition, which will give my Ultralisks wings so that they may fly.
|
It'll have its own in-game toys and "i payed more money" FOS. Just like wow and all its expansions.
weather or not it should or shouldn't is not really worth debating to be honest, because its going to happen anyways.
Its what Blizz likes to do.
|
I don't care much about achievements, but to me it seems like there should be a new separate feat of strength of achievement for the HotS collector's edition, some achievement to differentiate between people who have bought only one of the collector's editions from those that have bought both.

they prob will have 1 achieve for each collectors
|
Yeah best thing to do is ignore it.
Also most pro gamers switch accounts all the time so they do not have much achievements (if that makes you feel better).
Personally I feel bad for Team Fortress 2 players though. The entire game is plagued with limited edition stuff (technically they're tradeable but it's nearly impossible to collect them all. Especially things like Golden Wrench and the Trophy).
So if it also makes you feel better, only a few dozen players have *golden wrenches and saxon trophies out of thousands which play every day. So no worries on not being able to obtain all achievements.
|
Seems like there will almost certainly be a different CE achievement for each expansion (that's how it worked in WoW, and I don't see them changing it).
|
Just curious, what league are you in?
|
I will not play this game if i cant get this achivments, i mean i heard that achivments make ur apm be 50 bigger. Thats just pointless to play if i cant get all of them. I hope one day they will make achivments for having achivments but that would be too good to be real.

I don't think I've ever seen someone on ladder with the special CE thors except back in bronze league at release, they don't seem to exist once you get to diamond.

I bought a standard edition and two collector's edition, and I can barely play SC2 on my normal use comp. I do have a studio computer for music composition and producing, but I like to keep out gaming stuff from my professional equipment.
Only reason why I bought two CEs because I am an avid fan of Blizzard games, mostly Starcraft since I received the original SC as a present in 1998. I don't really care about achievements at all, since I barely play the game due to time and computer constraints, I just keep the extra stuff as tokens.

Doesn't matter. Here I will make it up to you.
I really didn't realize so many people care about achievements. Not that it's an awful thing.. but they really don't mean anything you know? No one cares

blasphemy!

Could you please add a "Who gives a shit" option to the poll?
Thanks.
|
Only if they change the name of the achievement from that "devoted fan" euphemism to "consumer whore".
:p
|
They should have 3 achievements for buying the different collector's editions, then a 4th for having the CE of all 3. Then a 5th achievement you can get if you send Blizzard another $100 called 'super mega fan'. Then another achievement if you have all 6. Then an achievement for buying a ticket to blizzcon and spending at least $100 while you're there.
Now THAT'S value!
|
CE is good. If there weren't any CE, Blizzard may be bankrupt right now and there wouldn't be a SC2 HotS...
Okay maybe not but it really helps fuel and prolong game development and game updates (assuming David Kim isn't stealing all the money earned from CE. You know I heard Browder say he's evil >.>).

Why do you care about achievements...
|
I don't really care about achievements (I did get the CE).
They should make a new Achievement. Devoted Fan: HOTS. So you have different Devoted Fan achievements for every CE you buy.

I don't usually ask this question, but honestly who the hell cares
|
Couldn't care less, and don't even really know what you are talking about.
Achievements are meaningless except that they pre-set some in-game goals for you.
|
I demand an extra achievement for each CE i buy.
They won't get my money otherwise!

You can still buy the CE @ best buy for $49.99
