And than she states it's difficult to reach masters? She should be raping masters before even joining a team like slayers.

Did you read it at all? Her reasoning behind this made perfect sense.

Plus the ladder was locked, she's going to be in Masters when they let out the next season. Seriously Beef, you gotta read.

Maybe he is one of those idiot 12 year olds who jump to all the wrong conclusions and post extremely negatives views because it doesn't follow "his views" because he is intollerant and a big TROLL oh and cant read...

Yea sure, just because I don't agree with putting a new masters player in a progaming team I am a 12 year old who jumps to wrong conclusions?

And why wouldn't they recruit a better player? I bet you that there are tons of koreans out there that are 10x better with waaay more talent. This is just sexism, just because she is a girl she gets into a pro team.. she takes up a spot in the house etc etc.

I just don't get it, a player gets accepted in a team just because she's a different gender.

Edit: Also, I really think that jessica (Honestly, find a real name) should calm the fuck down and don't stress about that much... I feel like she literally cries over every bad tweet about slayers boxer eve whatever.

Wow...Jessica sure has bone in her nose that's for sure! (Expression, positive)
A game where the first thing you do is scout with a “worker”. Does that make any sense? Who scouts with a “worker”? That’s like sending out the janitor to perform recon, what general would do that? Retarded game.

Good post Jessica. I disagree about how Slayers is doing poorly MMA is now a star at least in the NA scene. Sorry, I made a jerk-off response about the Eve pickup that was inappropriate or borderline at least. I was a good move, and there should be more girls on bigger known teams. Goodluck in the future and there's nothing cooler in SC2 than those Slayers jackets.

For someone who is absolutely not a SlayerS fan, I have never ever supported Eve's recruitment because she is inferior in terms of strategic understanding, mechanics, multitasking, any kind of game related subject compared to a teamless grandmasters player on KR ladder (see CrazymovING), which could also be recruited.

But this is not about her recruitment but the treatment she has been receiving ever since she joined SlayerS team. It's horrible and all the necessary action should be taken against it. Eve is so lucky that she has someone like Jessica on her side. We were talking about overreaction and stuff (yes, I thought that her reaction to the article about BoxeR vs NuclearfOu was a pointless outrage and my opinion about that hasn't changed a little bit ever since) but this is much different from that. What is being done to Eve is just childish, pointless, uncivilized and horrible.

Great post, made a lot of things a bit clearer, while I still don't agree with some. As a European, it does seem to me like a very harsh responce to go legal meassures against something said over the internet, but that might be just because of cultural differences like you point out.

I find it very dubious however to pick up a player, just because she's a girl. Don't get me wrong, if she becomes awesome(like Boxer's apprentices tend to become), I'll cheer her like mad, but for the most part you just said you picked her up because she was a girl(ok she has potential, but being a girl is for the most part the common divider between her and a lot of awesome players[and probably players of more potential seeing current ranking]). I always hate those kind of things, imo you should always pick people because of their skills, rather than race/gender, so I'm dissappointed with SlayerS

But yeah, thanks for posting here, really awesome to see/read. I send my best to the Emperor ^^

i think slayers have shown they know what they do when the reqruit a new player , so i expect eve will do well also.

as for protecting her players especially new reqruits is fully in jessica's right, korea has a different culture and different rules about cyber bullying/trolls.

for the rest: gooo boxer goooo slayers!!! goooo eve!!!

Although, I appreciate the sincerity of Jessica's letter; I don't think it's a step in the right direction. Professional Starcraft is becoming a global sport, meaning westernized sensationlism and celebrity bashing is only going to increase. Anyone who puts themselves on a stage has to understand that they are also painting themselves as a target; a target which only gets bigger as you become more successful.

As the manager it is Jessica's job to protect Eve, but the way to protect her is not by confronting her enemies -- that path leads to escalation and they don't deserve your time or energy. She can protect her by surrounding her with a great team that keeps her confident and growing in skill, and putting her in front of an audience that does appreciate her work. The negativity will always hurt, but hard work gets the last laugh. At the end of the day, Eve is a teammate on one of the most renowned professional gaming teams in the world and cyber bullies are anonymous punks who, at best, can become Perez Hilton and draw jizz all over everyone for a living.

SlayerS wants to push the idea that women can be a part of e-sports too, that women can be progamers too; there's no reason that couldn't be true, it's just that we don't have any yet. So, SlayerS wants to prove that it's possible by taking someone who's not that good *yet* and putting them together with players at the highest levels; maybe in a year or two or so we'll see some matches from SlayerS Eve in the GSTL and think "wow, I can't believe people were ever shit-talking her." Maybe we won't, but then again it's SlayerS's investment to make.

And whether you agree with SlayerS or not, it's no reason to trash Eve; she's just a kid who has a great opportunity to do something she loves and learn it at the highest levels from some of the best players in the world. There is no reason to take indignation or jealousy out on her, there is no reason to harass her. If you think SlayerS made the wrong choice, that's fine; they signed up a diamond-level player to *their* progaming team, they are the ones investing in *her*. It's fine to say you disagree with SlayerS signing a weaker player, that you think it's a bad move and they should pull someone out of KR Grandmaster league instead; that's *fine*. It's not fine to say terrible things about Eve just because she's getting an opportunity that *every* *last* *one* of the people who harass her would give their whole collection of pokemon cards for. And yes, that's including the foil Charizard.

Adding a female into the team is Clearly a move to make ESPORTS bigger, how many female starcraft pro's are there that are girls? This just makes it seem more accesible for girls and not just a sport that's completely dominated by guys, which there is no reason for, what I disagree about is the fact that one of the reason's she was chosen was because she's good looking aswell(I may be mistaken about this, but don't give it as a reason to waste a spot for a potential gsl champion),that kinda shit makes it seem seedy and wierd. I mean, comeon, look at how ugly some of the starcraft players are ;P

In the op doesnt it say she's been playing for a month? It seems pretty impressive to win a tournament after that amount of play doesnt it? obviously she has some potential and with training from slayers she could go far.

I feel like there's a serious culture clash happening in this matter.
The western world feels like things that are said on the internet are just words and should not be taken so seriously, because it happens all the time.

Korea on the other hand has a whole history of celebs suiciding because of online bullying, and so try to take it very seriously.

Also the inclusion of a girlgamer is probably an attempt to grow as Esports. Just like soccer was a mansworld slowly you see girl-leagues happening in alot of countries. Ofcourse the level is lower, but that doesn't mean it should not happen. She is training with pro's and will improve quickly, and hopefully attract more girls to attempt to go pro

People are just hating on Eve, because she managed to be somewhere, where a lot of people want to be - in great team with great people. Her dream came true and many of us cannot bear with this thought "why she was picked and I wasn't?"
But, humiliating her and laughing at her rank is NOT a good idea. I agree with Jessica - ESPORTs needs people Eve - brave enough to face laughter haters. I think that becoming 1st female progamer is more important to the community than another GSL champion. You may ask why- because it shows that not only typical overweight, stinky nerd can be a gamer. No, it shows that no matter who you are, where are you from, you can achieve what you dream of, if you want it really bad and work on it. Chase your dreams, guys and gals. Maybe somehow, someday, they will come true, just like they came for Eve.
I want to say sorry to all the people who can get offended by this post. I didn't mean to do it, just wanted to prove my point. Also - good luck to ALL StarCraft player - amateur and proffesional, because WE ARE ONE COMMUNITY, we should not fight, but support each other.

So is there no freedom of speech in South Korea? Very saddening indeed. Probably THE most important right in any and every free society.

Do I agree with what the trolls said? Not at all. Do I defend their right to say it? Absolutely.

Why do some people in the U.S. have this screwed up interpretation of "freedom of speech"? Freedom of speech does not mean you can say whatever you want whenever you want. For example, you cannot yell "Fire" in a crowded place just to cause commotion. You cannot publicly write or spout out baseless accusations about someone because you can be sued for libel or slander. It's so childish to think of freedom of speech as the freedom to harass people on the Internet without consequence.

I whole heartedly trust love and honor SlayerS_BoxeR. SlayerS_Jessica is a spirited and loyal counter part to SlayerS and SlayerS is a dedicated team that is the definition of honor and manner.
Helping women get into ESPORTS is noble and admirable.
harassment of an individual should not be tolerated.

also the English in this OP is very good!
