two sides to every story!

it's standard procedure for breaking news to be instantely released ... it's up to EG to provide their view of the things. If they don't have anything prepared yet that's just a failure on their part as I doubt they had an agreement with TSL to not reveal the news ^^. TSL releasing it instantely has to be a total expected move.

OHHHHHH shit

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=201086 - The post on TSL salaries.

I'm assuming Puma was getting a salary of around 30,000?

Considering that's how much their (at the time) star players were contracted for, that the post is 4 months old and Puma hadn't started breaking out yet, that seems unlikely.

Alex Garfield of EG talked to a lot of players at NASL, he approached Sen for example. For example, I have no problem talking to players (let's say DIMAGA) and saying "hey I'm wondering if you'd be interested in joining Fnatic." But knowing that he's a player on a team, that's really where the conversation needs to end. Anything further becomes a disrespect to the actual team and the whole idea of esports.

See the thing is, we don't know the extent of the conversations, unless you heard something and would like to share. That could have been what happened.

Kinda shady, but at the same time, he must have been offered a better salary/sponsorship or else I'd see no reason why he would leave on such short notice.

Well the thing is normally you wouldn't talk to the player first and would talk with the teams manager AND then they would bring in the player.

startale also offered dimaga a contract when he was in korea. He refused.
I dont think startale approached mtw's management back them. How come nobody was furious about that? Its no different, just that the deal didnt work out.

People still seem to think that Puma will benefit from this. Please tell me how. Sure, he will travel a lot of foreigner events and get a lot of money FOR A SHORT TIME. He can live off being amazing and talented for a few months now but after that he´s gonna dissappear as long as EG doesnt get him some good practice, which they cant if they dont put him in a korean house.

The fact that he´s a good player and that you guys are all happy EG picked him up isnt cus he´s korean, it´s cus hes gotten korean training, something he´ll lose now...

I don't see why people are so mad at EG not contacting the TSL managers. If Puma actually wanted to stay on TSL he would have brought up the offer to the TSL management and asked them to match it or at least come close to it. If Puma didn't want to be on TSL anymore, but was merely waiting for a better offer then EG not contacting the managers makes no difference.

I don't agree with this. I don't see why the management of one team has to contact the management of another team when showing interest in a player off the bat. I think it is appropriate to say "hey I'm wondering if you'd be interested in joining Fnatic. We can offer you a salary of $X and have a travel budget of $Y for tournaments. Here are any other things to know." If the player has any interest in staying on his/her current team then the player will bring it up to management. The only thing I can see happening differently if brought to management first is management wanting to downsize a team or get rid of a certain player and doing that even if the player doesn't want to leave.

THIS and nothing else!
I don't really like Clide(as a player obv.) that much but he is right. It's dirty cash.

PuMa betrayed those that helped him develop to what he is now.

Because Puma didn't write up a contract on behalf of EG? Because EG was the one who contacted Puma first, and obviously went through the pains of setting up terms and a contract with Puma before even telling TSL?

Nope. It's more like two stories to each side - the real one, and the one they'll grace the public with.

But oh well - roll out the EG damage control PR squad again.

I don't see a side there. I see Scoots vaguely pissing on TSL statements without offering an explanation himself. Sure he's with Alex working out a nice PR side to what they did.

This is exactly right, and its going to be funny seeing how many sheep believe whatever they come up with..

thanks to EG we now get to see Puma at alot of foreign events, only reason you should be pissed is if you are korean or a foreigner pro, which none of you bronze heroes are. so when you see Puma at MLG/dreamhack/iem whatever, then remeber who made it possible. not TSL thats for sure.

Um.. He was at NASL because he was allowed to go to NASL.... by TSL....
