She is the manger??!! Seriously boxer?
What kind of business decision is that? Just look at her action you can tell she has very little experience in the field. She would never gotten this job if she went through the normal procedures. For the sake of Slayers, get another person or get her a PR adviser. Yeah Jessica was in eSports before her and Boxer got together, and she has been the manager of SlayerS for a pretty long time now and there have been no problems whatsoever. This is interesting, do you know how long she was in this profession? I would like to know more. Regarding the 2nd part, clearly this and some of the previous twitts are "signs" of her problem. Here is the best I could find as far as her past involvement in eSports and her role in SlayerS now: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=236783She has had a decent amount of involvement in eSports for a long time now, although she hasn't had management experience before her involvement in SlayerS as far as I know. However my point was that you were making loosely based claims without providing any significant support for them, and that she is probably more qualified then you know. Even if she didn't have as great of qualifications as another major teams manager- She is BoxeRs girlfriend. You think they don't discuss the team or that during difficult decisions they do not ask each other? -_- imma throw a table.
Not sure what you are getting at, mind clarifying? I don't think I ever said that they don't discuss things with each other or anything remotely close to that. I was just providing a link to some information about SlayerS_Jessica's role on the team and her role in eSports before being manager of SlayerS because he asked me to, that's all. Maybe I am just missing your point so if I am just let me know sorry.

Well i guess it depends on the situation.. In the U.S this would be probably ineffective because authorities dont really give a shit, but if it is effective in korea (authorities actually do something ) then its worth the effort to react

Defiantly over reacting. I mean how do you even approach the police on a matter such as this?
Do you just go up to them and state that someone on the internet was mean to you and made fun of you because you are in gold league on SC2? I think people need to develop thicker skin because people seem to take things way to seriously and whine an awful lot these days.
The only thing I could deem worthy of reporting to the police that happens online is death threats. That is probably about the only thing I would report to the police.

I support this. I think the incessant trolling and childish conduct of Starcraft players is despicable. Can't lose a game without talking shit? GTFO. Can't get on a forum without shitposting and harassing people? GTFO!

Is it really OK to appeal to authorities when someone criticizes you? If there's an actual case for harassment, terroristic threats, etc., then of course that's another situation. Tweeting that Slayers_Jessica might be a bit silly trotting out this girl in front of the cameras just because she's pretty and plays SC2 is a legitimate criticism.
As for 4-chan style things, well, maybe Jessica can build a case in Korea. For me, though, the girl is 22 years old or whatever and is now in the public's eye (thanks to Jessica). That makes her fair game for parody, criticism, satire, whatever.
It just seems like to me that Jessica has not had any experience with the internet in this respect. We all know that ignoring the trolls is the right thing to do (because there will be trolls no matter what). Until it becomes real harassment or turns into a life threatening situation, there's just no point in making this big of an issue about it.

And yet celebrities are shopped in the same way all the time. Eve is 22 years old and was thrust into the public spotlight by Jessica herself. Is this really something you could, or *should* be able to take someone to court for? Helllll no.

there's a huge, huuuuuuuuge difference between american netizen and korean netizen.
koreans are literally connected through the internet, phads and trends spread like wide fire. if one person does something, everyone else starts doing it. rumors can replace truths. you can search "tablo vs whatbecomes"
korean netizen will chew people up and spit them out if they find 1 flaw in a celeb, there's pro trolls out there that can ruin lifes.
|
It's a cultural difference. In most places the police don't care about this sort of thing that much, but in Korea apparently they do and this is how they handle it. I think we (the rest of the world) just accept the garbage behavior of the internet because there isn't really any system in place to deal with it, in Korea there is and SlayerS Jessica is embracing that system. Seems fine to me.
Do I think maybe she got just a little bit carried away? Perhaps, but some of the things I've read are pretty inexcusable and shocking and as team manager she has an obligation to protect her team and I applaud her for being proactive about it.

If I am famous and I have a daughter(and she is also in the spotlight like Eve), I would definitely expect her to be photoshop by some kid and that kid is probably jacking off to her picture every night. But the less obvious but important thing is, I and a lot of people on TL understand that you have to expect that from the internet if you are famous. Jessica doesn't. And ironically, her job requires her to understand these "internet culture"

Yeah and who says you can say things like that on the Internet? Can't look at him as a human being any longer ? What kind of crap is that ?
IMO the Internet is way to complex to start to police on a nation level. It has to be community policies.
Of cours as I said earlier, death threat and serious stuff must be taken seriously.

Its only appropriate. Slayers Eve is a 22 year old girl and gets flamed for no reason. In America the laws about Defamation are not very strict but its different in South Korea. Also she is only providing evidence to the police and DA. Its the DA and the Judges that will determine if the individual will get a punishment or not.

LOL, that many posts she wants to take to the police (court)? Really...? What did she expect anyway, everyone to be happy about the new gold league SlayerS member...?!? Even if it had been a guy - erase the sexual harassment (which obviously IS fail.) you'd still have countless guys flaming because of the lack of skills (compared to OTHER slayers members not in general.) want to sue them all because of complaining about the skill of the new member? -_-
I just don't like where this is going in general- Imagine you can actually get sued for saying somebody played really bad and/or is a really bad player in your opinion (as long as you don't call him idiot/retard/whatever) - good bye criticism? [Don't get me wrong, death-threats, obnoxious sexist shit and what not should definitely not be tolerated, but looking at the paper stack that must've been everyone including the ones that only said "she fucking sucks"]
