No doubt they are going to cut people from the team. Sheth and QXC will probably get to stay though. Others will be cut loose. Loyalty means jack without results. I do agree players might/should be cut. But then, I think there are a fair number of players on teams that should be cut. But you can't build a team completely on tournament performing monsters. At least, I don't think you can. I think you need a solid base of extremely good in house players for your star players to practice against. And the talent pool isn't exactly there to just acquire them (maybe when BW contracts are up in KR?) you currently need to grow your own players into stars. But anyway, it's fun to watch. I want to see how this transpires. I want to see Leenock go to MLG, huge fanboy. =)
I get your point, however, I think at this stage, you can. This is E-sports after, not MLB, and the FoU name is bigger as an entity then any player on the team. Its got a great well rounded team of players who can all compete at the highest level. But each player is not going to a huge cheque as a salary. I think FXO just leapt at the opportunity to get into something at a cost effeciency. And FoU is a great team to do that with.

Teams could change rosters on a Week to Week basis already, so that isn't new.

People also need to remember that FXO the company is based out of SE Asia, so it's a pretty cheap investment for penetration into the South Korean market, in a game that's developing. The FXO company already has a sponsored Drift racing team, so this isn't completely out of left field. And since they're "buying in" early, they get it a lot cheaper than if they came in later. So long as SC2 continues on, they should do well.
Plus, as they start sending their GSL championship contending players out, they'll also start doing well in a lot of European & North American tournaments. That increases their visibility as well.

Grats. Still have my doubts about fou though. You can only go so far with a coach that is stuck in the early sc2 mentality of 1 base all-in cheese strats almost every game... SC is decent but theres just too many better terrans out there for him to ever be a top contender, and leenock eh hes a bit overrated imo but he has some potential, the rest of the team seems rubbish and dedicated to cheesing like choya. Honestly the best move they could make would be to cut the non preforming players on both teams and truely merge into 1 team with the best from each but that'll never happen. O well, hopefully the two teams practicing together will improve both.

imba.FXO skips everyones minds :p

FXO never ceases to amaze me. Great starcraft program going on in that organization, thanks boss!

Foreign starcraft doesn't need to get bigger then in Korea if they are just gonna merge.

imba is it's own team that FXOpen is sponsoring. FXO doesn't have any management oversight of that team, per what BoSs has previously said.

thebestFXO? :D
So are the ex-fou players going to attend future foreign events? and is there a chance that some of the FXO players remain in korea and play in the fou house?
|
Wow, nothing short of amazing guys

I feel like there are definitely people who are going to feel threatened by FXO, and I appreciate that feeling, but personally they have quickly become my favorite team. Josh (FXOBoss) gets some flak for being a forceful personality, but so far he has been remarkably open and engaging with the community, carefully explaining all of the team's moves and his feelings as the team's boss. I can't help but want to cheer for the team that is determined to shake things up. FXO is setting themselves up to be the mavericks and the trendsetters for worldwide e-sports and they have the money and the massive testicles to back it up. FXO fighting!

wow a great news! FXO is going to be TheBest.

Ok I posted this post on my Blog and it got blocked right away saying I must put my views and opinions in this thread... I thought that was a purpose of a personal Blog on TL.... I don't get why I have to post it here but w/e here it is. I wrote this article on my other blog:www.dexvitality.blogspot.com so I wanted to share it here also, prob get a bigger audience too
FXOpen have just recently announced that they have acquired the Korean Pro-Team fOu (For Our Utopia).
I just had some thoughts about it and wanted to share my “Lover” and “Hater” side of my opinions. “The Lover Side”
Firstly, I believe this is truly great news and something that is great for E-Sports and Starcraft on a global scale. I want to applaud FXO for committing to E-Sports and investing it what they believe in especially to FXO.Boss.
This makes yet another historic moment in E-Sports as this would be the first time a major Korean and Foreign team have merged together as one. This shows that Starcraft 2 is growing... on a global level and that is amazing. This might possibly start something where more Korean-Pro teams will merge or perhaps forge a relationship like oGs and Team Liquid have? That would be awesome. To the original FXO team members, this would be a great benefit now they will have a huge talen pool enter into their practice grounds and hence can cause them improve vastly. I am not saying they are not good players but their recent GSTL showings have not been the best and I am probably not the only one to admit to that.
“The Hater Side” (I guess everyone has a Hater inside them, no matter how small)
Now I might get a lot of hater comments from just this section alone, but then again, who really reads my blog anyway? Well I hope more people do than I realize and hope for...
Now FXO has been a team that seems to have a lot of money per-say. Judging from their practice house and facilities in Malaysia (i think..) and their cars they have (that Porche). All is great and well.
Like I said, acquiring a team like fOu is pretty huge, and one of my hater thoughts when I first read the news was... oh wow, they are like the New York Yankees of baseball. The thought ran through my mind thinking... so when they do not do well in the GSTL and can’t seem to win a game to save their lives, they go out and purchase talent and convert them to FXO, taking their fOu tag away. (I know fOu agreed to take on the tag but still...)
In my mind, why couldn’t FXO simply forge an agreement to become FXO.fOu instead like how oGs.TL works? This way, the fOu players can still have in their minds the roots of where they came from, that is from their clan: fOu. Now they are under FXO and their past seems to get removed right away as if fOu never really existed, it wasn’t as if fOu could not support themselves. I wonder what their fans think of this, it kind of feels like losing your hometown team all of a sudden doesn't it? But at the end of the day, FXOpen is a business, and the man himself is a very successful businessman, it felt a little bit in my mind, that the decision was made as a business one. Also taking into account that the fOu players would have loved to get a salary and more opportunities given to them. _________________________________
So to reiterate, I believe this is great news for team FXO and I want them to continue to grow, this could be a start of another powerhouse team in the Starcraft 2 Community, when you add in players like Sheth, MoonGlade, QXC and sC, Leenock, Choya together... that is pretty impressive. E-Sports is growing and this is a great sign, I just wanted to give my views on both ends of the stick. What do you think?
|
ah, it's like OZ has never left the team in the first place !
|
what do if you cant stand a chance in korea buy korean team!
|
Great news. I just hope that the FXO.Int team doesn't fade away into the background to the FXOKR team.
Boss is doing great things to the community. Keep it up and plz make sure that the Int team keeps up with the KR team!!
|
So awesome news, FXO is growing so big, they are definitealy becoming the biggest starcraft 2 team very quickly. Not neccesary in terms of skill but in amount and scale, esports<3!
