Page 26 and onwards I will issue at least two day bans to anyone who clearly has not read the original topic post and the explanations contained therein. He was barred access to the event days before the actual event took place and used some random diamond player his account to try and get in anyway.

Leave the racial bias at the door while you are at it as well pretty please.

People complained when Catz suggested that some tournaments shouldn't allow Koreans to participate so the Foreigner scene can grow. The condemnation was fairly outspoken and people thought it was stupid that Koreans shouldn't be allowed in Foreign tournaments. One of the main reasons given was that the Foreigner scene wouldn't grow as quickly as Foreigners wouldn't need to compete against the best for money, they'd only have to compete with each other.

On the flip-side, people are now arguing that this SEA-restricted tournament is going to help the SEA scene grow by allowing the SEA players to make some money playing the game, giving them more time to train so that they'll be able to take on players from other regions/Korea.

Erm, pick one guys. Please?

I just want to highlight something for you that has been repeatedly and obliviously disregarded throughout the course of this thread.

There are so many opportunities in Europe and America and Korea. There are very few in SEA. As a result, our players do not feel very motivated. I was speaking to our Rank #1 Grandmaster a few days ago. He said he'd quit his job, and would have a lot more free time now. But rather than practicing and improving his skill, he felt like he should do something productive because there's no future in SC2 for SEA players. So this is one attempt (of several) by me to provide an incentive for players like him to train harder and build confidence. I've been working my ass off for 11 years to try and make these possibilities a reality for us and that opportunity is on the horizon.

And for the 9th time today (yes, I counted), Dox Cup #2 will be inviting international participants, with a larger prize pool.

I've actually learned something valuable from this thread. I used to think the global eSports/StarCraft 2 scene was broken down into two categories. "Korea" and "Foreigners" - but this is not the case.

It's actually "Korea", "America & Europe" and "South East Asia."

Seeing our region repeatedly referred to as "a joke" is disheartening. But at the same time, it does nothing but motivate me even more to get our guys on the map. They have the talent and the potential, all they lack is the opportunities.

for the sea vs foreigner, I don't think its anything personal. I mean as well as foreigner and korean has a huge separation in skill. It is true for sea and the rest of the Foreigner scene. Moonglade is the only "strong" player and imo he is around similiar level has players like minigun and socke(above average pro players in foreign scene).

But I do agree you should take it as a challenge to grow stronger sea player.

But the thing about Major, what you did was right. Major was trying to be annoy and broke rules.

Why do people keep using the word "cheat?" Is it an English as a second language thing? Cheat means something specific in gaming. What he did was smurf not cheat. He's a dick not a cheater. I get that the community wants to make him pay for his actions but don't make him out to be a cheater. That's not cool.

I'm not trying to disparage your efforts in any way. It's great that you're putting your own money/time etc. into eSports. I'm actually all for regions having their own tournaments etc. to give players in those regions a chance to see who is the best and to see how they're developing cf. one another. I just found it ironic that people were so defensive of this SEA region tournament when they were so aggressive towards CatZ and his take on things.

It is similar but not exactly the same, Dox is the person who sponsor the event, he wants it to be SEA only, then so be it. CatZ is a player not a sponsor.

Its pretty obvious the sponsor has the biggest say on how his tournaments should be run, we have to respect that.

But there's no 'racism' going on here. Major tried to enter a tournament that was open to SEA citizens only. How would people react if a Korean citizen entered a US-region only tournament smurfing under a US account?

he cheated the system, and cheated out the players he played against. Basically, in this context, to 'cheat', is to blatantly disregard the admin's orders, and play undercover. That makes him a cheater.

I understand that your trying to grow the scene, but inviting a sea player with Korean training is no diff than allowing major to play. In the end your exposing the scene to competition that you were trying to avoid in the first place.

It's also important to show that working hard to improve your play as an SEA player pays off.

You don't need to invite T-gun to show people that hard work pays off. Especially considering that T-gun's success is not attributed to practice on the Sea server. Matter of fact it would be detrimental to the scene because it exposes people to the Sea server's lack of competitiveness.

I agree that in the beginning, the intent was to boost the Sea server scene. Your trying to inject some funds and motivation to accelerate the growth of the server's players. All of the criteria for entry lead me to believe this (Sea account, and native citizenship). However, it was the lack of foresight that led to their decision to become discriminatory. They most likely did not anticipate someone of T-gun's caliber participating. But, because he met all of the criteria set in motion, they "technically" have to let him through. If T-gun wins the money, this in no way helps the scene grow. He's someone who is already set. If you really wanted the scene to grow you would cater to the unknowns, not someone who has already established themselves beyond the skill of the server.

I guess major probably shouldn't have smurfed. That was his bad. But the tournament is also in the wrong for incriminating him further by offering a stopgap excuse for why he isn't allowed to play and what they are trying to do. If your going to condemn him for breaking the rules, then you have every right to do so. But you need to admit your lack of foresight caused this scenario in the first place.

fucking joke Major. Asking to play, getting told no and it was in no way unclear, then decides to smurf, gets caught and then bm's the chat and just fucks around with dox.

But hey bad pr is good pr in the end, right? or not. Feel sorry for Artosis and sixjax for picking up Major, he's got talent but needs to grow up. This will do nothing positive for neither party in the end. Anyone can change though, is what to take away from this I guess.

There are people of differing opinion and if you stop thinking of the community as one hivemind where everyone thinks exactly the same in every question you will see how there are people on both sides. Not one person with different user profiles who first says one thing then another. Also the NASL was explicitly about a sc2 league in North America but not exclusive to people in NA. This tourney was for SEA and only SEA.

You do have to let him in. T-gun is currently the hardest working Australian player, going so far as to distance himself from his home and family to get better at the game. If you don't let him play, it's kind of like telling the Australian community to "Work hard to improve, but not too hard".

That's a really unfortunate situation, but I don't really think that this is an appropriate way of responding to it.
