Look at Chess for an example, that has one of the easiest mechanics around and both players even agree to play with map hacks on.

Chess doesn't have a low skill ceiling. Neither does SC2, SC2 just has a *lower* skill ceiling when compared to BW. Kinda like how chess has a lower skill ceiling than chess boxing (which has more mechanics).

Sigh it saddens me a little that some sc2 players can't take 10-15mins of their lives to watch a few bw vods before comparing the two games and making pointless assumptions. I've read so many posts where it's blatantly obvious the guy knows nothing about bw.
I've played both games and in my opinion, making sc2 easier mechanically isn't a bad thing, as it allows for more room for improvement in the other areas. We just haven't seen someone execute it at a level we've never seen before. Maybe we will in the near future

On the other hand, going too far in the other direction is just as ridiculous. I mean, does anyone actually think it'd be a good idea for Blizzard to, for instance, remove rally points and control groups in their next game, as if that'd make a better game? I mean, that'd certainly make it hard, but better? I'm not convinced. (What are we arguing here again, anyways?)
Blizzard has already stated they want SC2 to be a different game - and it is. We'll just have to see where it goes from here. Two more expansions, people! I'm sure it'll have quite a run.
EDIT: The other thing that people need to be aware of is that Blizzard is a business. They're out there to make money, which means selling more games, which means they have to cater to the casual crowd, which means easier mechanics. Making a competitive game is more of one of their "side" goals than their main goal for SC2, and I think this tends to be overlooked by many posters in this forum.

My point is that if you take out the physical aspects to a game and make it purely a strategy game, it will stop being a game. Look at Chess, there is an optimal way to play based on what setup the board has. This is why comps can beat the grandmasters.
I am simply taking your logic to its ultimate conlcusion. IMO the game needs both, and has both but your sir seem to disagree.
