I dont see why they cant have an anti hack program running at all times like Steam does with VAC and games like CS and others. While I know VAC doesnt stop everything it does stop the most easily accessible and widely used hacks more often than not.

I think the banning system for SC2 is very similar to VAC2 system valve has. They both ban in waves, and still has the ability to manually ban players.
Problem lies within the guest accounts. The guest accounts provide enough time to use the hacks without the consequence of being banned, since the account will most likely be closed before the ban wave happens, which would make catching the hacks harder.
It was similar to Modern Warfare 2, where in one of the free weekends, there was a mass amount of hackers playing, simply because the reason stated above.0.

Just don't allow guest accounts to ladder... this is ridiculous. Give them their own mini league that they can play against each other in
|
If they made it so guest passes couldn't ladder past Plat or Diamond it would solve some of the problem. Although the fact that anything below those leagues would be riddled with pissed off people it would be less detrimental to the top tier players. Idea was probably suggested but mehhh...
Edit: obv they would cap the Guest pass MMR as well.

Bad idea You don't really want to piss off people below Plat. That's the majority of your playerbase and the people most likely to end up resorting to something like that in the first place out of frustration.
This is a cat & mouse game that will keep on going forever pretty much. Sucks. Shit like that happens in waves though. Hackers spike when something new comes along then they start giving up on it shortly after due to various reasons (guilt, bored, not exciting anymore, achieved some goal, etc).

wow i thought that he was a spoofer... i played him (fake EGidra) he dropped hacked me as well.

Yea, simply removing trial accounts from ladder would prevent incidents like this from occurring. Either that, or find a way to safely ban users of trials if they also have a normal account.

Difficult to rationalize that one. lol. You can still lose to cheese quite easily, but it becomes much easier to counter.
You can't lose to anything easily if you maphack. You just suck ass.

Is drop hacking (currently) still as bad as a few days ago?
|
Let Guests ladder, just don't let them leave practice league. Don't let a player with practice league maps play with other players without them.
|
Once you're high masters tier of player I don't think 99% of maphackers would have a chance against you. The drop hack is just an instant loss which sucks and will hopefully get fixed quickly but playing someone who is gold level and suddenly starts maphacking is going to be spending too much time looking at my base and locking and unlocking his camera to deal with my macro. He'll just be able to see his looming demise.

I would assume so, nothing has changed so why would it suddenly cease?

Just got drop hacked again. SCLOL - Real original name. When is Blizzard going to get their shit together?
|
Why not make it guest passes face other guest passes? Although there is a chance for them to face hackers and be discourages from purchasing the game, it doesn't make sense to cater a potential customer than a pre-existing customer. As for the hack itself, I'm sure it will be solved soon. It was solved once s it should be again.

I guess you have a point, but the reality is people who hack wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much if they just trolled people who don't even know what they're doing, and therefore would be far less likely to drop hack in the first place. Most of them just want attention by drop hacking GM players.

IMO the only (temporary) solution is to remove the ability to ladder AT ALL from guest accounts. If they make a guest only 'practice league' it will just scare off prospective customers cause it will be filled with hackers. And if they let guest accounts ladder normally you get this bullshit. I know it sucks but their ladder being overrun by hacks is gonna have a worse impact on sales than a guest account not being able to ladder.
Then obviously they need a long term solution such many of the ones suggested here. The one about winning a certain number of games in a short time being put on probation until it can be validated is one. Uktimately they really need to update warden. Either way they are lucky this shit didn't happen so close to HOTS release. If they do eventually fix this shit they better hope everyone has short memories :/

haha, I kinda feel sorry if they start banning the main accounts associated with the Guest accounts. So many people give them away over internet.
|
One guy who was drop hacking actually laddered as a silver leaguer last season and has over 1000 achievement points.
|
This begs the question: why are trial accounts allowed to ladder at all?
