Good, that eliminates the one lingering reason why I might watch NASL. I can't stand Gretorp's casting or even Gretorp + anyone but Incontrol casting. The games are very hit or miss, the format is terrible, and other than it running at a convenient time, there's nothing really going for it.

Thanks for making my decision easy Inc.

Excellent long term decision from Incontrol. I mean its possible that NASL is struggling, he didn't get the pay bump he wanted, there could be creative control issues, it doesn't really matter. Geoff has seen the fame and fortune coming to the top players, and he knows that at 24(?) years old he is much too young to get into a 9-5 job, when he has the talent to live the rockstar starcraft pro life for several more years, and place in the top 16 of top foreigner tournaments.

Casting gives a nice stable salary, but what is that compared to traveling the world, going to Korea, visiting drunken tournaments in Germany with friends. He can still cast games when hes 30, now is the time to play the game.

well now that NASL won't have amazing jokes and hilarious casting. I can also focus more on gaming.

I'm pretty sure I watched NASL everyday for 9 weeks because of Goeff. He honestly is the best caster I have ever watched. Not only is his analysis amazing. Casting is a game of personality and entertainment, Incontrol had those aspects about him.

I'm going to say, I'm definetly upset. I actually became of Fan of Incontrol, watching him games. BECAUSE I got to meet him on the NASL.

Good luck Buddy in Tournaments.

My Favorite NASL Incontrol Moment!

It's probably for the best Incontrol, right choice, you've started to preform really well. Wouldn't mind seeing you do even better.

Seeing how well he plays even though he casts full time was surprising. Just imagine 2-3 months from now how refined his play will be.

Hate to say it but I kind of agree with this. I think Gretorp is OK when inc is there but without inc I doubt I'll watch outside of idra and a few others. At this point casters are more important to me than who's actually playing outside of about 8 players that I would watch a mountain lion cast. Anything with Tastosis, inc, idra, day 9, and obviously MC is auto watch for me and everything else needs great players for me to tune in.
Apologize.

Will miss his casting, he's actually probably my favorite caster and not to be one of those complete haters but I have a hard time enjoying it with some of the other casters that they have had; (Moletrap, Diggity, Xeres).

Hopefully they can find a suitable replacement and hopefully this allows inc to start crushing some tournaments.

I enjoy watching Geoff play but you can see that his play has suffered in recent weeks and months due to the amount of time he spends casting etc. Will be good to see him improve his play in the near future

It's sad, but I understand the (inferred) reasoning.

iNcontrol has a lot of personality. I felt that the "Gretrol" duo was really fluid. Without him, the casting might be a bit less lively, but we'll have to see who replaces him as the regular co-caster.

My inferred reasoning is that iNcontrol made the call to focus purely on his pro career. That's very respectable. He probably doesn't want to see his play slip because of the casting (see: PainUser, Gretorp).

I'll miss his casting just the same!

Aww this is too bad, I liked Incontrol as a caster, it's gonna be weird with out him...
With an average game length of 7m36s over his 6 games in GSL3, this is a no-brainer. BitByBit pulls more SCVs than yo momma at a club on Mar Sara. ♞

I enjoyed Geoffs casting much more than gretorps (no offense), but I do hope incontrol will do better now in as professional level ^^

This is bad for the NASL imo, but the right decision for iNControL if he wants to continue as a player--which he clearly does. It would have been impossible for him to still compete and cast as much as he has been. Just look at Artosis....

This decision pains me as it's like watching someone you like make bad choices. I'm sorry but Geoff isn't a community mega star because of his stellar performances as a professional player. He's beloved because of who he is, his personality and what he brings to the community through shows like SOTG and being an entertaining caster.

I felt him leaving SOTG was a bad choice because its basically the platform that launched him to fame in STARCRAFT 2 (we all know Geoff was known by the small foreigner BW people). Now leaving the NASL is just #2 in the bad decisions he's made.

I understand he wants to be a top level player and competition is his passion but at some level you have to be wise about your options and future. Retracting into the bowels of competitive play when you have the entire SC2 community spotlight is just a terrible decision.

Geoff should embrace his role as an esports ambassador and excelling community member, that is where he will 'make it'. Does Geoff think hes gained so much fame and notoriety, commercial deals and casting jobs because of his playing skills? Does he think he's being invited to intel panels and traveling on company dimes because he's a top player? Let's be real...

Anyway, I wish him all the luck as a player. EG was one of my favorite teams pre-starcraft. I just think these moves he's been making to reduce his community involvement to focus on playing more are foolish.

edit: I know this post sounds harsh like I'm an incontrol hater but nothing could be further from the truth. I will cheer incontrol on throughout his gaming career and root for EG almost always. It's just hard to see someone come so far from the obscurity of brood war to toss aside some really great opportunities because they want to be a 'champ.' What I just posted about incontrol I would say to my best friend if the situation existed.

Completely agree. He has a lot more potential IMO in being himself while connecting to sc2 community than in progaming.

Such a huge loss for NASL, but as incontrol always has said, he's a player before a caster...
Will miss him while watching NASL in the future!
Hope he gets better in the EG house, if he won't cast that much anymore, atleast justify it by being a huge powerhouse of a player!!

Not that it matters what I think.. lol... but this is probably a very good move for Geoff. He understands that his role is as a competitor and caster. I do believe you will see him casting again and probably at the same time he is concentrating on playing. I do, however, feel like there is probably more to the story then what is being shared with us.

Someone said that NASL was too long of a 'tournament' and the format was shabby. First, it was not really a tournament.. its a League.. and it performed exactly as it should have. Yes, most will agree that the format is borked.. but you have to remember that most of the guys running the show have little to no experience with event structure and organization. I think the idea is solid from NASL. Setup the league more as a sports league. This is something that eSports needs badly. Yes, NASL hyped it up and failed to deliver at first.. especially with their content/coverage and production value.. but the idea is solid and as the community and esports moves forward we can all use NASL as a lesson in how to and not to do things.

I wish NASL all the best.. (change your name though.. you may be sued for it soon!).. and I am sure they are taking the suggestions of the masses seriously and looking to improve on season 1.

Good Luck to Geoff in his new ventures and I think we need to stop whining about the casting so much.. give good suggestions to the casters we have.. let them learn from their mistakes.. and look to find new casters that can breath more life into the SC2 community!

my 3 cents..

Will he still compete in the NASL? I think this is great for him, he has shown that he wants to be a player, not a community man. More power to you, Geoff.
