Big hearts iNcontroL <3

And best of luck with your gaming career, I know you'll be tearing it up soon enough and when you inevitably make it to MLG Anaheim and NASL season 2, I shall be watchin and cheering on along with the other believers!

It's awesome to see that you have decided to be a full-time player, I see you as one of the best Protoss and I find myself modeling a lot of my play after you. I enjoy your casting but I always felt that if you went full-time you would just rip through the competition, it's great to finally see it happen. Much love and support in your further endeavors brother

While I certainly enjoyed the casts I think it's a bit painful when a good player turns into a caster for a major league that eats up all of his time. I don't know, it feels ( to me at least ) like a dream dying or something. I can't imagine a pro wanting anything else other than being the absolute best at the game, and turning from the guy whose games are talked about to the one that talks about other people's games makes me sad.

So I think this decision is fantastic. GL to you iNcontroL.

Why was that guy warned for saying nice? It is nice, geoff has more time to work on improving his game and day9>??? can cast nasl (fingers crossed)

Of course I'm sure they can find a decent replacement even if it isn't day9.

uhhh shouldnt you be excited for all the games? Considering you started the league?

Once they get some real casters that just act as if they are intrested in the games I may go back to watching it but until than ill just glance through the results. Idk why they even have anyone cast it its so bland and boring at times, but than again I just may be spoiled by tasteosis....oh wait no because IPL casting was fine as was HSC, and they could hardly speak english..

I hope you flop hard Incontrol, maybe change your pompous "headier than thou" attitude, but doubt thatll happen. Btw you wouldnt stand a chance at any international tourny

The amount of seemingly unwarranted hate in this thread astounds me. Shouldn't we as a community support someone like iNcontroL who has done a great deal for SC1 and SC2 outside of korea.
GL Geoff, looking forward to it!

I truly appreciate all the words of support guys.. means a lot.

A lot have speculated on my decision to leave and talked about how I am giving up something I am better at (commentating or being a public persona etc) and I fully understand those perspectives. I haven't won any major tourneys and while I have had decent showings and done fairly well in other events (Cw's, ladder, online tourneys etc..) none of it is top-notch. I want to be top-notch. I am happiest when I am playing better and better. I love being a leader and speaking to people on large platforms but that is not my guiding light.. playing at the highest level is.

When I move into the house with IdrA/Machine/iNkA and then move into the EG house roughly in August (Maybe July) I will be going there to commit myself to be the best player I can be. That means I will train harder and more than I ever have. I will utilize my team and friends like I have only when I stayed in korea for a week with IdrA (Where I nearly doubled in skill). Anna will move in with us as well and really jump-start her eSports career by hosting content, helping manage our team and doing other entrepreneurial activities.

I will still do Inside the Game. I will still be a guest on SOTG and various other shows like TL Attack and Kings of Tin. I will still have an opinion and I will still strive to grow and improve this community. I will simply have more time to do those things WHILE spending more time than ever focusing my time and energy on becoming the best I can.

I want to commentate in the future as I enjoy it and think I can contribute there as well. But living in Ontario and being relied on to cast every day for 7 or more hours is a LOT to ask.. especially given my true desire to be a top level player.

I will have 3 weeks to train hard core for MLG Anaheim. After that, every MLG will be a target. NASL season 2 (as a player) will be a target. And my dream of going to the EU will become true.. but I will go as the best iNcontroL I can possibly go as! And I hope everyone can get on board with that!

Nice! I'm more excited after reading this... I think it mostly has to do with the fact that you guys will all be training hard in the team house.

We try to discourage one word responses, especially if its one of the very first responses as it feels suspiciously like a substitute "first" post.

Geoff is a great caster, and better player. He was in some sort of funk with his play lately and I think it was due to his lack of play, and his casting/promoting. Geoff should be out there winning events, and doing well. Once he's through playing I would love to see Geoff cast, but I'd rather see him excell as a player first.

GL HF to NASL without Geoff, and get Day 9 to do it!

Very nice to hear, I was expecting that to be honest. The workload was just very heavy and I dont believe anyone could get this all under one hat.

So best of luck as a pro player,

SirScoots hinted as much a few weeks ago in IRC. I'm happy that you'll be in a position to play full time again. Maybe we'll still see you cast a couple single-weekend events that are less detrimental to your training.

Good decision Geoff. I've often wondered how you can cram all the stuff you do (casting, 'talkshows' and coaching) in and still manage to practice enough.

I think you know as well as anyone what it will take to be at the top of the sc2 world alongside the koreans, you've talked about it enough in inside the game, sotg, etc. Mr. Chae summed it up quite nicely in the Inside the Game (or was it live on three?) after MLG Columbus. It's focus. Even at a big tournament they're focussed. They don't care about meeting other players, hanging out, catching up, giving interviews, etc. They just want to win.

I think your knowledge of the game is good, and you're analytical which to me means that if you can pick up your mechanics, you should be in a good spot.

Personally I love to see more of you as a commentator/caster and especially as an extremely entertaining part of whatever programs djWheat comes up with. There are enough good players, but not enough interesting personalities outside of the game. However, I can fully understand your motivation and really hope we'll see you rock at the next MLG.

Good luck!

i think artosis has this same problem (and maybe day9?)... are they a casters? or are they pro-gamers? you can try to be both but it would be doubtful for them to excel at competitive SC2 if they maintain their careers as a casters

Glad to hear this. Casting a tournament that has as many games as the NASL will only be a detriment to any player. Also not a fan of gretorp or incontrol's casting so this is also great news from a viewers standpoint as well.

Whilst i'm sure this was inevitable for someone as competitive as Geoff, i'm disappointed with this news.

iNcontrol was an amazing caster, one of my favourites when paired with Gretorp, but just seems like another average Protoss player.

All the best though, good luck in the competitive scene, and even though a lot of your "talking" ( SoTG and NASL casting) input into SC2 is going to be side-lined, it sure was awesome whilst it lasted .

I hope they can find "fun" casters to cast NASL.
I'm not saying any of the casters are bad, but to be honest, NASL is often times quite boring to watch... like if Tastosis were to cast NASL, I would probably watch it every day. Not because they are necessarily the "best" casters, but because they're the funniest/most fun to watch. I hope NASL chooses their casters wisely for the 2nd season.

As for incontrol, gl to his competitive career.

I'm a bit sad because I think he was doing a pretty good job casting the NASL but hopefully, they will find a good replacement and incontrol will start kicking (more) ass playing!
Good luck sir!
