Fenix had an amazing MLG run, all the way through the open bracket to like the top 16, definetely deserves this

Sheth got seeded because he couldn't attend the qualifiers, he placed very high and his whole team went to GOM foreigner house for GSTL and Code A qualifiers, so they cut a deal. My theory.

Anyway, gogo Fenix!

From the looks of it GSL is doing everything they can to bring in the foreigner market - thats why they invited Sheth. They are already paying for him to live there, it makes lots of sense.

As for Fenix - I haven't been a huge fan of his play style but I really have to respect anyone who is willing to drop everything to move to Korea just for a shot to improve his game. He had a nice showing at MLG so I hope he continues the good results.

woah, sheth's one starts next week though. this is all so ace...

GL all! Huk has shown that it's the nurture not the nature that gets the impressive korean results, I believe we can have more strong non-koreans on the korean scene!

Stop spreading lies, sheth was an invite, he did not play in qualifiers.

how do you think these guys do? i only really see naniwa winning a round in code a. or is that just my korean bias?

All depends who they play and how they handle the pressure on the booth. There's some very scary players lurking around Code A/B, if Dreamhack and MLG taught us anything it's never bet on a foreigner to beat a Korean.

Won't Koreans be annoyed that Sheth got an invite to Code A regardless of the exchange program? Isn't qualifying really hard? And isn't injecting invites into a qualification tourney a bit odd?

On the other hand - foreigners in GSL squeeeeee

It might make some players mad but the Western market for SC2 is looking bigger then Korea at the moment. I think because of this they don't really care if it upsets the players.

Will he be playing on the F.United Roster?

IE should we add him to Fantasy GSTL?

edit: yes he will ok adding now

do you know if Huk and jinro are competing for oGs, because gom's list did not have them and i need to know if it was a waste putting huk as my captain.
But since fenix is going to be on FU, i think this team will do even better than I thought. It is going to be epic watching that team

No offense to Fenix, but this is a bit ridiculous that they would just go through the ranking and give Code A spots to anyone that accepts third. Fenix ranked 11th at MLG Columbus afaik... most of the Koreans in the code A qualifier can probably rank higher than that. How is this fair to people like Donraegu, Ganzi, Line, TheSTC, etc etc, whom all are deserving of at least a Code A spot, but because of the brutal qualifier, didn't get through?

Because GOM is doing this from a marketing standpoint rather than a "let's get the best players" view. They want foreigners. By your argument, Huk shouldn't have ever made it to GSL in his Code A debut. He was an invite. He got knocked out of the qualifiers when he tried during the open seasons. GOM wants to expand to the foreign scene cause its about money, not about talent

EDIT--- not saying a player like Fenix or Huk don't deserve it, because as we see, Huk made it to code S, but this isn't the first time GOM has seeded foreign players who probably wouldn't have made it through the qualifiers. Moonglade, ret, and haypro never won a code A match and didn't have to qualify. In a perfect world where GSL and GOM had infinite money and didn't have to worry about an audience they could have the best players always with epic finals and such, but this is real life :/ On a lighter note, GL to Fenix, Sheth, Nani, and Thorzain in the upcoming GSLs :D!

Congrats to Fenix really.. he doesn't get the hype he deserves, even after having an amazing run in the last MLG -- only Thorzain did a bit better. Being only 18y.o. and living and playing SC2 along Thorzain, Naniwa and others will only make him a better player.
