i dont understand the reaction out of this thread. the rocks in those maps actually could make things more interesting. of course rocks on expos are soooo annyoing (rage!/(%$/($"/() but the cancave blocking rocks or rocks that help you defend in any way is actually macro favoring so i really have a hard time about all the hating here. i really feel like the rocks favor the more passive player this time! love it.

blizzard is making new maps all the time and rotating them threw the map pool. it´s a thing everybody was screaming for when the game was released but everybody just keeps on crying and crying. i´d love some more of those GSL maps myself and i bet there are season comming up which are more macro/endgame heavy. for now i feel blizzard is going into the right direction and you guys are crybabies ;P yeaaah you heard me wowowowowow ;P ;P ;P

I don't understand why they show us the new maps without telling us which old maps are gone and when the season will start.


I also wish they didn't feel the need to coddle the vocal minority and to insult the intelligence of their player base by not doing interesting things. 1 rich vespene geyser bases. No gold bases. No destructible rocks for the sake of having destructible rocks.

it's funny how they put in a rush map, I guess for all 50 players on bnet who likes that sort of thing it's great news.

Otherwise, meh. Will judge when having played the maps.

Blizzard insists on sticking their noses into the area of the game they HAVE NO EXPERIENCE with. Blizzard made TERRIBLE maps for BW, it wasn't until the Koreans got involved that truly balanced and enjoyable maps were made.

Backwater? Interesting? You are a fucking retard lol.

That was uncalled for. Apparently I missed the testing that went into Bel'Shir but that is no reason to be insulting. And I'll stand by my opinion that backwater is an interesting map.

I really like the look of these maps. Some of these have the potential to create a lot of nice macro games. I'm looking forward to playing on them! =)

The first reaction I had to this was "Ugh".

The more I look at it, though, the more it becomes "enh"

Test Map 1 is okay. I like that they forgot to name it. Rotational symmetry helps keep the rush distances okay.

Kerrigan's Wrath is fucking absurd. Close spawns are actually worse than Steppes. Like, a lot worse.

Shattered Sky is probably fine. It reminds me a little of Metalopolis.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, I'm okay with the Macro Map.

So, that's two enh maps, one pretty decent one, and one fucking awful one. I guess it depends on what maps they remove to make room. If they remove, for instance, Slag, Scrap, Delta, and Typhon, I guess I'm okay with this.

edit: At least the team maps look like fun. Blizzard should just stick to those and leave 1v1 to people who know better. I think it's hilarious how Kerrigan's Wrath is probably the worst map for zerg out of the four. The rush distance at close spawns might actually be the shortest in the game. Perhaps Kerrigan's wrath is aimed at the zerg, and she wants them to be abused in order to toughen them up for HoTS :b

It seems to me that the first three 1v1 maps really spread out any bases beyond a natural, which is always a headache..

The gold spawns on map 4 are not ideal in the slightest they heavily favor a Terran user.

yeah i'm hoping they remove slag/delta/scrap/xelnaga personally . If 3 of those 4 are removed I will be happy because that means I can veto 3 of these dumb maps :D.

Blizzard should really just out sourcing map making to GomTV and ICCUP. The first two 1v1 map makes my eyes hurt even just looking at it.
Why they waste their resource to making maps while others just can make it better? Why not just import the maps and focus resources in making the expansion?

i have a buddie playing terran got into masters with all in pushes and rushes only. he told me he played about 60 games in a someting redicilous like 4-5 hours when he got promoted lol.

you should hear him when getting easy wins he is enjoying himself its so funny. hes like giggeling and shit. i bet he has more fun with the game than most people have haha.

yea basicly not everyone is looking for 40 minute games and blizzard as a company, not a slave of TL rage kids, is doing a fair job pleasing everyone who paid for the game.

just because you dont like something doesnt mean everyone does not like it. important lesson in life my friend.

Blizzard say they strive for variety, but still they only add new (4) player maps and totally ignore the (2) player maps. Some of us believe it or not would like variety not only in appearance but in size of the maps too.

With that said, I look forward to the new maps but still very sad that they can't have a good mix of maps for all types of players. I mean look at Xel'Naga, it's a great map and just because of alittle QQ about removing close pos, and smaller maps Xel'Naga is great and they shouldn't move away from it completely.

Agreed on the lava map being Backwater Gulch on crack, I feel the rush distance already isn't too far on that map, now on this one it's practically non-existent.

Also, if they don't use these to replace Slag Pits/DQ/Scrap Station I will facepalm.

In general, all the maps look very plain - I want something like belshir beach to play on!
The rotational symmetry on the macro map is going to suck.

I wish blizzard will just acquire the whole GSL map set. A lot of us learn from watching tournaments such as the GSL and would like to apply that knowledge on the ladder.

I don't like how blizzard is trying to tell the community "this is how we want you to play our game" via the new maps.

If they implemented private/custom ladder in sc2 the gsl ladder would be played so much more often than the real ladder...
