4th map looks pretty interesting. I like the possible tension of having your third base right next to the main of your opponent by air. People should keep in mind that Blizzard needs to appeal to a wide range of people when designing their map pool and their number one goal is not competitive balance at the highest level. That's for the tournament map designers to do.

Makes me pretty angry that that is their mindset. Its like metal 2.0. It is so gimmicky to have a map that is auto advantage for TvZ on certain spawns and auto disadvantage for TvZ in other spawns. I do agree with this for the most part. I wish Blizzard would concentrate on more "directed" maps and less on trying to be super creative. I like that they take the initiative and liberty of adding lots of destructible rocks and gold bases, but I think trying to create maps that can have drastically different playstyles depending on positions is a little too much. The Blizzard mapmakers aren't bad in the least, but trying to always bring "colorful" maps into the mix annoys me.

I'd really like them to add 1 map from the community though. That's just always a good thing to have.

Oh wow those maps all look the same, and they all look terrible . What happened to expansions in the middle and in interesting places. Blizzard needs to take a long hard look at BW.

Yeh, I have to agree. Every map should at least have at least one wide-open area to traverse to get to the enemy's natural. It makes for far better strategy in where you choose to engage battle.

Basically, there should be somewhere a sentry-Protoss would like to fight, somewhere a meching Terran would want to fight, somewhere a ling baneling Zerg would want to fight....etc

I have a hard time determining scale with these maps, so I can't judge that completely. They should put them on battlenet just for people to wander around on.

You are fucking retarded. Professional players don't give a fuck about these stupid 'ladder seasons'. Professional players want to practice on the maps that the high end tournaments use. Just because you 'don't understand' doesn't mean you are right.

In fact you are wrong, the community DID test Bel'Shir EXTENSIVELY. Both through GSTL, as well as outside testing. Jacky and LS Prime.WE make the best maps in the world right now, as acknowledged BY BLIZZARD. Who made Tal'Darim? Not Blizzard.

Blizzard insists on sticking their noses into the area of the game they HAVE NO EXPERIENCE with. Blizzard made TERRIBLE maps for BW, it wasn't until the Koreans got involved that truly balanced and enjoyable maps were made.

Looking at 1v1Test4(the "macro" map) a bit more, I think it'd be okay with a choke point at the entrance of the bases, right where they have that little space in the map, they should just cut it all off and make it a choke point. Then the map would look like a smaller Terminus SE and I'd be okay with that.

Ehh... Don't really like any of the 1v1 maps. Looks pretty bad, and continuing the trend of hard to take 3rds for the most parts. Rotational symmetry is pretty bad in the maps that feature them as well. 2v2 and 3v3 maps seem to give some players easy expansions while the other ones are left with hard expos or none at all, same with 4v4.

...it really doesn't seem like they're listening to the feedback at all.

All of the maps feel very similar to each other: bases at 11, 2, 4 and 6, ramp descending down to natural close-by and central area being where the Xel'Naga(s) are located. The third is also extremely hard to take except on the macro map.

They seem like decent maps, but could be better. Also all of them are 4-player, I was kinda hoping to see a 3-player map making it's debut on the ladder pool. Blizzard loves using a lot of destructible rocks, which I dislike if they're blocking bases(because it's so common), but opening attack paths to prevent early game rushes is nice usage of them.

The most interested I'm in which maps the upcoming maps will replace.

These maps are so awful. Not only are they riddled with positional imbalance, stupid features and destructible rocks everywhere, but they don't even look fun or interesting or dynamic to play on. They look incredibly boring and stale, something even I didn't expect from Blizzard. They really not to stop trying to play cartographer and let the community deal with it.

I really hope Blizzard are going to add GSL maps as well, as these maps look pretty terrible/boring. Also, I guess if there's only going to be a small number of maps replaced we are still going to have maps like LT and metal in the map pool. Gonna be like WC3 with some maps staying in the pool forever.

Man, I'm not a fan of how hard it is to expand on every one of these. Looks like games will only get to 2 base... if there's a natural you can hold. Hopefully it'll encourage custom maps though!
