I would imagine that the majority of GOM's revenue comes from Korean advertisements.

How fuckin' cheap are ya'll when it comes to your favorite sport? There will be between 155 and 264 games depending on how close the series are. The no-ads ticket is $40 dollars. That's between 15 cents and 25 cents PER GAME. For the best Starcraft players in the best tournament format in the world. Too cheap to drop 20 cents? Get the no-ads ticket for $25. Now you're paying between 9 cents and 15 cents. Assume the average game length is 20 minutes (based on watching every single GomTV game since season 1). That's as low as 25 cents for an hour of entertainment, or the high roller price of 75 cents for the premium-deluxe no-ads assuming every series is an all-kill. I bought the $40 no-ads ticket as soon as it was available because it just made financial sense. I don't know what ya'll are spending your money on, but you must be super-shoppers or 3rd-world poor because I can't find many better deals for entertainment than the GSTL. ![]() GSTL HWAAAIIIITTTING Poll: Is the GSTL worth the price? Yes, I can do the maths, and it's cheap as hell (26) No, I don't have a job (10) Yes, cuz it's the GSTL and I would pay a lot more than $40 (7) No, I'd rather watch Artosis in the NASL (4) No, I'm just an idiot (3) No, my parents won't give me the money (2) 52 total votes Your vote: Is the GSTL worth the price? (Vote): Yes, I can do the maths, and it's cheap as hell

I also play WoW (as is 11million other people), so that's another $15 per month. Then it's $60 per year for a SC2 expansion. And if they release another WoW expansion, or Diablo 3, that's another $60. Let's pray to god my keyboard, mouse, mic, headphones, etc don't break. This is JUST for gaming. Sounds like you have to make a financial choice. Welcome to the world of... everyone. Now decide, do you want NASL, full of star players like Grubby, Artosis, and PainUser, or do you want the 3 months of the GSTL? For me that is a no-brainer decision.

Nobody, except an elite few, knew who DRG was before GSTL season 2. Or who MMA was before season 1. The GSTL has a record of bringing out the best players in the world you've never seen. The fact Nestea will occasionally make an appearance to save his team from elimination is the icing on the awesome cake. ![]()

If they are unobtrusive / get blocked by Adblock I don't see a reason to spend 15 bucks just to remove them They've already offered VODs with and without ads for different prices, so if you have any tickets now go look you will see the ads (If you don't G1 of each set which is free probably has the same ads too). If not' they're pretty unobtrusive, there's the little tiny button at the bottom center that makes I think a 480x60 ad banner pop up, and maybe some prerolls. I can't imagine paying to have them removed, maybe 25 - > 30, but 15 bucks more is a lot. For the sake of discussion I'd like to add that despite the fact I'm basically 100% sure I'll buy it, I wish they would announce who will be casting when the tickets go on sale... it only makes sense.

With this, I can see the big name players focusing more on their GSL matches in the combined weeks with the GSTL. If they increase the prize pool, then I'll buy it.

All I read in this post was a bunch of bitching and calling people cheap. Grow the fuck up. Maybe people don't like being bombarded with so many tickets to buy at once? You ever think of that? Oh, that's right. You didn't because you were too busy acting like an immature asshole by calling people cheap. I would much rather pay $10 a month instead of having to shell out $35 right now for both the individual league and team league. Why? Because it keeps my fucking SC2 budget under control. There's also hundreds of hours of free content out there and paying for this just seems to be so pointless now. Not only that, but 95% of the games in the Championship league or w/e the hell it was called were a damn snooze-fest. Korean players are becoming increasingly more and more boring to watch. All they are doing now is figuring out clever build orders to win and that's it. The Polt vs MMA finals is a great example of clever BOs, but the games were so damn boring with the exception of one of them. If you find one player building unit X, Y, Z & A-moving at the 7 minute mark with them "exciting," then holy hell do I wish you have some sort of exciting life outside Starcraft. Edit - I'm also sick and tired of tournaments that run over 1 month. I've stopped following them completely. It's just becoming way too tiresome and boring to keep up with everything, let alone a tournament that lasts more than a month.

So... let me get this straight: You don't want to be bombarded with so many tickets to buy, so you'd rather buy on a monthly basis (more tickets) than purchasing a ticket that goes for more than one month? Okay... On June 23 2011 10:10 Joementum wrote: Why? Because it keeps my fucking SC2 budget under control. So having the option to pay less money-per-game for MORE GAMES over a longer period of time is causing your sc2 budget to spiral out of control? No, I think your sc2 budget, like most people's sc2 budget, is controlled by the guy behind the computer, not GomTV. It's still free to watch live... The entire Bo7 could have been worker rushes and it would have been exciting, there was like a hundred million Won on the line! That's a lot of freaking money. 3) GSTL and GSL both run just about a month. The Super Tournament was a notable exception with a notably large prize pool.
