This is actually the 1st season of any GSL that I will buy, as previous seasons have held GSTL have far superior games than the GSL. Although I would prefer it to be 20$, I don't think its outrageous.

Will be first Gomtv season I didn't pay for. Guess I will only follow the individual leagues then.

I am glad to see this kind of results of the poll, maybe this will change the minds of GSL like we did in the first qualifying season when they didn't even want to put up a free stream.

The problem with people are the highest it goes, the harder it is to pay for at once. For example you can pay for Xbox Live monthly for 5$ (Forgot actual price), but many people can't actually pay 50$ at once for 12 months, even though you save money in the end.

Paying 5$ for GSTL is fine and pretty easy to find in a budget, no matter how much content they give you. Finding 30$ in a budget is much harder.

Edit: Just my opinon on the whole paying for thing, you can watch most shows on TV if you miss them on Hulu for free and legally (Maybe other countries don't have the same), but to watch a game of SC2 if I miss it live, I have to pay money for... pretty stupid if you ask me. I can tell my buddy to check out the latest episode of CSI because it is sick, but if I want to tell my buddy to go watch TheBest vs MarineKing (trollol), they have to pay money. Luckily for myself I can stay up at 5AM every night and catch them live, so no money has to come out of my pocket.

Hmm I will have to wait and watch the first 2 days live before I decide what I will do. Depends on casters, length of matches, my freetime outside of SC2, how I want to spend my time watching SC2, and many other small but impactful pieces.

TV shows have enough exposure with ads/dvd box sales that they can afford it. Well produced SC2 content does not.

Samsung, G.Skill, and Coke exist all around the world, I don't understand why we don't watch commercials instead of seeing the same GomTV intro we've seen since Avertac Intel Classic in BW. Play some damn commercials in the VODs, I don't care.

I just don't like the fact I can't tell my buddy to go watch a SC2 match that he might actually be interested in. I got him watching some of the Avertac Intel Classic because he thought Tasteless was hilarious, I couldn't get him to do the same now a days.

Commercials would help with adding money for GOM but i'm pretty sure the amount of money Samsung and G.Skill are willing to pay for these commercials are nothing compared to overall production costs. Commercials on regular broadcast TV reach a much broader audience with everything from LCD TV's to toilet paper. SC2 fans are not the key demographic.

And don't forget dvd box sales, those probably account for a huge part of the revenue from TV-series.

It's just not feasible that your friend should just be able to watch any game from GOM for free. Even with ads it still wont cover all the costs.

Honestly I'd pay a lot more. GSL sustains my happiness. I watch that instead of doing other stuff which would cost me a LOT more money overall and would make me much less happy :-D

I'm employed and make a pretty good salary, and I still think its kinda high. If you look at it, with 92,000 viewers for the super tournament VOD X 25.00 per subscription, thats 2.3 million dollars + sponsorships. I'm all for E-Sports growing and viewing a quality product... but this seems like a killing to me. Maybe I'm wrong here...

92k viewers doesn't mean 92k people bought the pass. I am sure there are plenty of people that just watch it live.

How would watching it live make any difference? You still need a subscription if im not mistaken.

No. You only need a subscription to watch the VODs/HQ, but Live is free for SQ.

I'll get it because I'm a junkie, not because I thought about whether it's a good or bad deal. But I would probably pay way more if I knew some of my money would go to the teams/players more evenly so as to support them better.

I will get it.
Even though its more expensive I can cut one perk out from my weekly routine so I can fit the new price into my budget.

I'll get GSL but will skip GSTL this time. 25 is ridiculous, I'd prefer shorter seasons if it brings down the ticket cost.

I'll watch a week or two of this new format and then make a decision to buy or not. It sounds expensive but there might be something in the details that just dont translate over text.
