gaming companies make their money from sponsorship's. being a popular player can be just as important as being good, and having a variety of players helps boost the brand. im no marketing expert but i wouldnt be surprised to find out that teams are ok having 1 'star' player to win tourneys and some personalities to spread the message to less hardcore fans

Oh...like EG? Hahahaha.

That's not fair to EG.

wtf? you mean other then col having way more players(spread over different games) much bigger sponsors..and their own line of products?

Perhaps he just meant bigger as in a bigger entity in terms of competition, they were largely considered the best team in North America.

wow. That's really weird.
Root members have always been famous for sticking to their team.
They've also been famous for not having enough sponsors, so I guess that's what tilted them at the end.
What'll happen to the team house?

RIP ROOT Gaming. It's never good news when your favorite team splits but I'm excited for the future of coL and the future endeavors of Kiwikaki/Slush. Hopefully everything works out for them. I can understand Catz's statement completely and I fully support the entire team, whether they decided to move onto coL or not. Much <3s!

Hey iNcontrol is really good as well. He got fifth in MLG... was it dallas?
Either way, he's a really good player. And the other guys are 'OK'.
It's a strong team regardless.
I mean if you could say the same thing about team liquid, that currently has no 'star' player who is winning a lot. They're still quite strong players, and there's no reason to count them out in any tournament.

This was the first MLG that incontrol actually looked strong in, in my opinion.

Predicted root to die in december of 2011, damn I was way off. I hope they do well with coL although without Kiwikaki I don't see this as that big of a deal in terms of coL acquiring big skilled players.

Exactly. Sucks to see my favorite team selling to the man ..... I thought they just acquired a couple sponsors not too recently???

I know it's a bit off-topic, and I apologize, but does anyone know what happened between inka and EG? He doesn't appear to be on the roster anymore.

Back on topic, this is probably a good move for ROOT in the long run, especially after they lost qxc to FXO, and Kiwikaki has been performing well enough that he was likely to leave soon anyway.

Kiwikaki and Slush were the best placers for Root in the last MLG. Now that they are no longer in Root/Complexity I'm not sure if the Root has enough talent to keep their fans. Don't want them to be the next Lazurus gaming.

Inka joined Lazarus Gaming, with that team having gone defunct he's currently a free agent. So far as I know he's still living with Machine and IdrA in Arizona.

Maybe the locals want to make a french canadian team of Kiwi, Slush, Fayth, Fredz, AlexCMoi and the infamous, well-mannered, gentleman Deezer.

Complexity was already one of my favorite teams and this only makes it stronger! I just wish that Kiwi would have made the switch too. He is my Favorite NA Protoss right now. O well.
Complexity is building a very strong SC2 lineup. :D
