coL didn't get Kiwi or Slush, ROOT's 2 best players currently. Minigun is probably the best pickup as he's been consistently getting better as of late.

It's sad to see ROOT go, but they would have dismantled without a sponsor soon enough.

Gonna be awkward in the team house...unless KiWi joins Fnatic or somethign

it is kinda sad, but the majority of the team are sticking together so i'm not too bothered by it. shame to lose kiwi and slush though. wonder what the odds are of ever hearing the story behind that.

If Slush, Kiwi, and Fayth DO go to FXO, then it FXO will be like the new ROOT kinda...

Slush, KiWi, Fayth, qxc, Sheth, all ex-ROOT members :D

Kiwi only stayed with them for like 2 weeks before MLG dallas. He was never a permanent resident.

Kiwi and Slush were ROOT's two best tournament performers. I don't really see why you'd want someone like Catz or Minigun if you want to really win significant tournaments, but I guess this is a big step for Complexity. Buying a team then losing its two best players is not, however.

gaming companies make their money from sponsorship's. being a popular player can be just as important as being good, and having a variety of players helps boost the brand. im no marketing expert but i wouldnt be surprised to find out that teams are ok having 1 'star' player to win tourneys and some personalities to spread the message to less hardcore fans

I would be interested to see where Kiwi and Slush head too, seen as they were probably ROOT's two best players, I'm sure there will be lots of interest.

Well I guess this is going to be the trend, where smaller teams are going to be absorbed into larger teams until there are only a handful of really strong groups. It's sort of a natural selection, and it's actually pretty exciting~

drewbie has had similar results as slush since basically forever (except last MLG)

and god i dunno why minigun is that underrated

I guess perceived player's skill is really based on their fame much more than their actual skill level

Well. Fame is based on tournament results and minigun doesn't have any afaik. For example, Slush wouldn't be getting any of the kudos in this thread before the last MLG.

Damn Complexity wasn't probably expecting to get shafted like this. Can't wait to see where kiwi and slush go.

you make it sound like complexity was expecting kiwi and slush and then they just booked it out of there? you coudlnt be more wrong

Eh, what I wrote sounds worse than kind of what I mean. Obviously I do not know the whole story or position of what is going on, but I assume that an offer was givin to aquire all of ROOT and Kiwi and Slush decided to go seperate ways. I shouldn't have said that they got shafted, but in a way they were expecting to receive the full roster at the time, then two best players decided to go a different route. Then again, I do not know the whole story.

Not a CoL fanboy at all, but I still wish ROOT players the best of luck in the future.

Which would have been wrong as Slush has consistently placed very well in MLGs...no one ever seemed to notice though.
