If I remember correctly, I think I saw on Dignitas' twitter that they were going to release a huge announcement on monday, but it maybe wasn't Dignitas... if it is, you know whats happening

I think it is a downgrade. I mean 6 players join a team with already 7 players on it and they lose their two best and most recently accomplished players. Slush just placed top 10 MLG and Kiwi is arguably top #3 NA toss. Also I have an issue with Complexity every since they gave up on the US cs 1.6 team, which I feel is a negative since after SC2 the top esports scenes are CS and Halo.

I think its mostly because most people were introduced to the complexity team when the whole idra-cruncher thing occurred. And seeing how idra has a huge amount of fans (myself included), cruncher (and sadly complexity) made a bad first impression.
That being said, congratulations on picking up the root guys. Im a huge fan of all of them, and despite being a little sad that kiwi and slush aren't on there, I still wish you all the best of luck.

they're still underdogs, none of these guys have ever come close to winning a big event

the players you play against are not harder because the prize pool is larger, also I doubt most people compete in MLG for the money considering how mediocre it is (until the grand finals) it's really just a small bonus

As much as I'm going to sound like an elitist, most of the SC2 community doesn't know coL and it's history, and probably don't appreciate the organisation in being (along with 3D, and in the last ~3 years EG) the only long lasting, professional teams that has branched over a large amount of games. The SC2 community doesn't really have a midway point, they either hate every decision or embrace it like penicillin.
I hope you have success with your team, coL-EG rivalry respark? I sure hope so ^^

Minigun's root invitational finals was a prepatch PvP (aka 4 gate coin flip) he won against IdrA in ONE set of the match. and he didnt even win the IPL 2 qualifier. (he placed 3rd)and none of them were LAN settings.

is MLG the only thing that people really care about? Since esports became big, lan results have really only been the only thing that matters. Online events are cool and all but champions are made at lan
Well then, I guess we differ here, online results count just as well, even though I enjoy LAN tournaments more and believe there is more pressure in this format, it doesn't mean I discredit the online accomplishments of players considering how many big online tournaments there are.
Also, as said earlier, we don't know the financial specifics of this deal, so speculation there is kind of pointless, but I will point out once again that the players they acquired(regardless of the absence of Kiwikaki and Slush) are comparable with, or better than the best players on their own roster.
Like I said earlier, once again though, I feel it's a weird situation for fans since ROOT is no longer ROOT and Complexity is no longer Complexity, the members of ROOT will no doubt shake up the line-up and this will no doubt draw attention away from the original members of Complexity, essentially it's some dilution of the value of both teams individually which creates a new potentially stronger team as a whole but it's not really ROOT and it's not really Complexity. Moving forward we'll see if this pairing really is beneficial for both parties, but for now I wish the new Complexity good luck and I'll reserve major judgement until we see how it turns out.

He's beaten IdrA in more than the EGMC. He placed third behind other great players, and has done well in a number of tournaments. I don't really see the argument here, is it simply that he doesn't have LAN experience? Alright, acknowledged. He's still a great fucking player.

Sorry but Idra's opinion doesn't dictate whether a team or player made a bad impression to the community. Unless you mean that cruncher's tactics made a bad impression for both him and the team (since his tactics were the reason for Idra's frustration). Really what you're saying is that because your boy lost, complexity made a bad impression on the SC2 community. I'll let you identify the flaw(s) in that argument.

CoL was a mediocre team, not only would Complexity benefit from getting heavy hitters on their team, it also benefits Root as well who has had a history of struggling financially. However, when you don't get those heavy hitters who are frankly most likely going perform better over the rest of the lot, it is an utterly bad business decision on Complexity's part when you don't get that prime aspect of the deal. Let me tell you, Root came out on top of this deal. They will most likely be better off merging with Complexity for financial sake. However, without Kiwi or slush, Complexity is just spending a lot more money than they need to be. For a long time col's fan base has been shrinking and shrinking. Getting popular players(even if they arent the best) is going to help col alot. This kind of reminds me when they picked up swoozie, not the best fighter player out there, but was a natural infront of the camera and did alot to keep fans interested(even tho col was struggling at the time) Popular yes. Buut looking at Col/Root's roster now, who at the end of the day is going to perform for this team. The only one I can think of is Cruncher. That's it. Starcraft 2 is a competitive game, and teams must strive to get those players who will perform. Popularity is one thing, but if you don't perform in any tournaments why bother wasting money in a highly competitive environment such as Starcraft 2. You sign players to win tournaments and produce results, not win a popularity contest. If your players don't perform your sponsors will only suffer for it. If anything acquiring Destiny was the best part of the deal with that's what their aiming for. But I hate to say destiny aint gonna cut it anytime soon in terms of winning any big tourneys. Why do you think TLO was personally sponsored by Sony? What are his tournament results? Yes, but that's TLO. Root/Col currently has a roster that is not conducive for winning anything. At the end of the day, a portion of your roster NEEDS to produce results... Not only that, TLO has been injured for the past year and still places in the top 16 at many tournaments! He is not a bad player at all! Just look at root's results in MLG. Who were the top 2 finishers for root at MLG, Kiwi and Slush. Look whose missing.
