Don't forget Chinese players. The game is just out for a month in china and theres a ton of good players like XiaOt, Lovecd, LoveTT, Loner, and many other. They did pretty well against Koreans in the Starswar 6 tournament in China.
I'm not saying they are the team to beat right now, but they should deserve some consideration in the talks.

I think Sweden have a lot rolling with esport right now, and has an unfair advatange if you would compare to other countries. The long winters also contributes, with many people staying inside.

The only real disadvantage Sweden has to other countries is their population, 9 million. If you compare to Ukraine for example, which many brings up in this thread, which has 45 million. This is not really fair either though. Sweden is richer than Ukraine, and is ranked as one of the highest welfare countries in the world, which obviously does matter. Most people in Sweden has access to a computer and ok internet, while this is not the case in Ukraine and most other highpopulated easteurope countries.

If you look to other sports such as ice-hockey or football, Sweden is way better than they should be with their 9 million. The skill in esport and other sports has more to do with the environment and circumstances the people live in, than with the countries sheer population.

ehh that doesnt even make sense. how come Denmark or Norway isnt as good then?
Gaming is very popular here, not only for hardcore geeks, but for everyone. People are very competitive, that is the biggest reason we have sick top players, not because of long winters. Also when we have summer, people barely sit indoor and practise games. I dont even think Sweden is a rich country anymore either. you also contradict yourself, why would we be good in football with long winters?

Are Sweden good in football? Hopefully they will show that in the next world cup.

When it comes to SC2 Sweden has been showing some good results, so has many other countries as mentioned in this thread. Watch out for China though, those guy will soon be crazy good.

Top Americans IMO would be Tyler, Idra, QXC, Sheth, Select (If he went with that), or Spades

And we seriously need a world cup for this. That would be epic.

Keep an eye open for China. In every e-sport they hace actually invested, they've become beastly. They can take korea's SC mecca status with enough effort.

S-Korea
A-Sweden
B-Ukraine, Canada
C-Germany, USA

Germany probably interchangeable between B/C

Right now i would say Sweden and Ukraine (Sweden might shine brighter at the moment cause of the TSL finals).
But keep an eye out for China in the near future. They had/have a pretty sick WC3-lineup, hopefully they will switch over.

Denmark and Norway has nothing to do with my post, i explained my thoughts on why Sweden is good in Sc2, not why Denmark and Norway isnt good, which i am sure have its own reasons.

I dont think Swedens population is more competetive than any other country, so that argument is invalid to me. And yes i do think people in northern countries in general stay in more than the rest of Europe, America and Asia because of the weather, which in my opinion is a reason for why we are better at Sc2 and other videogames.

I know i sit indoor and play even when its summer, altough less than in winter. Especially as most younger people who are in school are free some months of the summer, which will also have an effect on how much they play.

And in comparison to Ukraine, yes, Sweden is rich. Even in comparison to USA, Sweden is rich in a way that we have a better welfare, a lot less people who are very poor (and thus cannot afford a personal computer). Actually, Scandinavian countries have amongst the best social security in the world, which makes it so that even the poorest 10 % of our people can still play videogames, which is not the case in most other countries.

And the winter and football things were not at all related, it was just a comparison that population dont have alot to do with skill as one may think. Football is although a bad example (as Sweden is currently kind of sucky at), icehockey is a better one. Both in Canada and Sweden, Icehockey are one of the most popular sports, but eventhough Canada has more than 20 million more people Sweden are still as good as them, sometimes worse, and sometimes better.
