I had a pretty hard time understanding what the callers were asking as well. I definitely don't blame him. All the callers were pretty terrible this week imo.

I think you intimidate nerds somehow Geoff lol

geoff's calves are the size of my head, as evidenced from when I met him at PAX ages ago, and I'm 6'3, 180. Yes, he can beat you up.

Lol @ nerds running....
And I'd love to see the nerd who has any reason to run from Geoff... If they are able to IRL piss off the friendly protoss teddybear there won't many people around who also don't have good reason to give chase.

And that exactly what a childish kid would do is run away from any conflicts. A "big boy" would not run away but also would not put himself in a position of conflict with Incontrol from spamming him in game or whatever it might be. Incontrol is a very good guy I've seen him have to tiptoe though some situation where a lesser grown up would make a idiot of himself and i have mad respect for him and what he does for our community. I think if kids want to be annoying they should aim it towards people who deserve it at least.

Have you ever seen a nerd run? Geoff could just grab the nearest non-mobile nerd and spear the running one with his newfound nerd-javelin.
Geoff is also capable of throwing boulders, refrigerators, grizzly bears, and telephone poles several hundred yards with pinpoint accuracy.
It's a little-known fact, but Geoff has won every single world caber-toss championship since its inception, 2,200 years ago.

If geoff is the first big grizzly throwing bully a nerd has faced, well then he is not really a nerd but an imposter.

I think you underestimate Geoff. He is not an ordinary bear-thrower. He is a bear-thrower that happens to be a nerd himself.
He understands the brain of the nerd, knows their flight patterns.
He can merely glance at a battlefield full of nerds, process up to twelve hundred at a time, selecting the 16 most troll-esque forms among them, and have fifteen objects weighing five hundred pounds or more flying to intercept, all within the space of 12.45 seconds.
He also taught the diminutive idra to project lasers from his eyes. Any nerd who encountered the original example of this power on the NASL does not live today.

Yeah, how dare he respond ironically to somebody's lame-as-hell insult?
Geoff, next time, I expect you invite CombatEX to tea and then give him a 15 page report on why his behavior is offensive, inappropriate and hurtful.

Another ability Geoff has is improvisation. If you haven't seen it in his Starcraft games before, let me provide an example for your nerd minds.
"But Honeybadger," You'll say. "There aren't any Grizzly bears, refrigerators, telephone poles, or boulders near Geoff, and ALL of the nerds are running away!"
Geoff will simply grab his sidekick, Idra, bend him into a boomerang shape, and take out all of those nerds with a single throw, due to Idra's fantastic flight dynamics.
He is also capable of tying together two computers with Steelseries™ mice cords, and weilding them as deadly nerd-nunchucks.
You don't even want to know what he can do with a glass of milk, a straw, and a live trout.

Blizzard will reap the benefits of e-sports regardless of whether or not they help move it along. Its a matter of.. is it worth the probability of alienating even a minority of your players (people who like rush maps) to reap a minor benefit they could be receiving in exposure from success in e-sports. The best part is, as I said before, Blizzard reaps the benefits of e-sports regardless... why cater to a crowd that is dedicated to your product regardless of how "misshandled" they might think it is?
On top of all that, consider that this "pulse on the community" these progamers/casters have is funneled almost exclusively through TL. Hell a recent poll on here showed over 70% of the people browsing these forums were diamond or above... im not saying thats scientific... im saying the pulse they are reading is from generally higher level players. Again, why alienate a group you don't have to?
As for the maps themselves. You even have wheat citing Bel`Shir beach as an example of a map that would be good in the pool. Give me a fucking break. Why do people always have the conception that pro maps will alienate the casual audience? They're pro maps because they're balanced, sized well, and fun to play / watch. Pro map doesn't automatically mean 60 weird passages and overwhelmingly complicated expansion layouts, and "noob map" doesn't automatically mean a 2 player map with a 10 second rush distance and the most basic layout possible.
I don't see why a gold player would prefer some of the current blizzard maps over Crevase or Terminus. The creation and selection process for GSL maps doesn't center around making terrain as obscure and confusing as possible, it's about making a map that's fun, balanced, and ensures there is always a diverse range of viable playstyles. Maybe noobs don't complain as much because they play casually and thus don't care, or because they don't understand what constitutes a good map, but it's clear to any1 who remotely understands the game that most of these maps are a joke compared to the potential ones that could be introduced into the pool.
