TFT was an amazing expansion IMO that really improved WC3 fundamentally (attack type/armor type mostly), not just through the addition of things. I'm hoping SC2 won't be afraid to revamp itself via HOTS, because this would really justify the cost of three expansions (and the amount of time between their releases).

Blizzard wants 18 months between game-expansion-expansion, but Activision wants 3 titles released this year according to bobby Kotick and the shareholders: ![]() Some things have changed, but Brazil(for sure) and Japanese(iirc?) wow is coming true, D3 has all signs at Q4, leaving X1 at the same time except, I would expect one of them to be christmas 2011, and the other to be jan/feb/march 2012.

Blizz has the engine in place, the MP in place, introducing units to MP won't be hard, just to balance, then you have single player, the infrastructure is already there. Yeah and we'll have no choice but to suck down each $60 expansion as it comes out or not be able to play competitively. Woo ActiBlizz!

No one knows. Most likely an unannounced project. Anyways, I don't think Blizzard would be able to adhere to Kotick's impatience no matter how insistent Kotck and his shareholders are. Kotick has been around for a while and Activision has been with Blizzard for quite some time, yet SC2 was delayed quite a bit and Diablo 3's release date is still just speculation. As far as HotS's release goes, I think it will mainly depend on how fast the single-player developers can churn out the campaign considering that it will be the most time and resource-intensive part of the project. The multiplayer additions will probably rely on intuition to develop more than anything else. I'm also pretty sure that the expansions won't be priced $60 even though there aren't isn't any official word about the pricing yet. The only way they can justify a $60 price tag is if they make HotS completely stand-alone. If they go for a more traditional expansion pack model by requiring WoL, I think it definitely will be cheaper, probably at most $40.

I bought ATVI at $12.50 or something 18 months ago and it has actually gone down, usually because some jackass executive sold stock

I wouldn't mind if Trent Reznor did the Zerg music and Daft Punk did the Protoss music ![]() Good god no, Daft Punk would not suit Protoss at all. This isn't Tron, dude. If you've heard the Protoss BW music you know that it suits the Protoss theme much more with sweeping orchestral scores, not repetitive techno.

I personally liked the warcraft 3 campaign approach, even if its RTS genre, it doesnt mean campaing story telling should only be approached by RTS ways. The more genres are mixed, the more interesting the campaign will be. They not mixing rpg elements in multiplayer, if that what you're afraid of.

Perhaps the HotS beta could just be one long PTR that lets them test some of the crazier, more sweeping changes without being rushed about finalizing balance before the release. Letting several thousand beta-testers of all skill-levels test out major changes could be much better than testing changes within the confines of the Blizzard offices.

For the confused people if its a standalone or not. First they wanted it to be a standalone, but since people complained (most did this because they wanted new units in the multiplayer each expansion), they went away from this and said fine as you want its your money. And thus made it expansions again. (they would have probably added new units for free otherwise if there was a demand ![]() But for the people who want to think that blizzard is evil, here another version. Since bnet was about 3 regions, the multiplayer nerds would have bought 3 versions anyway, the single players obviously as well. So anyone would have bought the expansions anyway. (casual gamers buy everything mainstream anyway). But then they got time issues because of bnet (wanted to release them half a year steps first), increased the single player part so all their programmers had something to do. And while at it they thought multiplayer nerds will not wait one year, they will buy WoL 3 times and afterwards since they want new units, they will buy the expansions as well, so we make lotsa money. PS: so no standalone, but its the trolls and qqers fault not moneymaking ![]()

Actually, didn't Blizzard state back in February there's no games coming out of them this year? And between the first peek at WoL and it's release we had a year long period. Not that I don't want you to be right, even if you lay on the usual Activision stuff a bit hard, but I'm doubting it. Guess we'll see ![]()
