Right on. He and AdelScott need more love. Both are amazing Protoss players who do way more than many big names. I also voted up InControl for the same reason. 1 for Gretorp as a gimme.

"The owner of Coaching, Russ, he is the mastermind. This is his baby. He partnered with a USC law school graduate named Duncan who's kind of an eSports newbie, he saw a nice business venture and he's excited and learning more about eSports and they backed it and created it. Like I said, this is laying down the infrastructure and the tracks for eSports growing in the West. So even with this and the tight lips we've been kind of doing...I can't say we've been completely quiet about it as we've been teasing everybody, but there's been a lot of interest generated from business individuals that want to get inside on this because a lot of people have been waiting to do it and try to step forward and work it out so right now it's solely their enterprise but it's definitely growing as we speak.

Anyone else think only 1 open spot is a little low? Going to see the same 49 people every time?

You guys are pissing yourself too hard =/ Why this isn't better than GSL:

100k prize pool is in fact SMALLER than GSL @ 128k-ish, not only that but each GSL is 1.5 months versus FOUR months for one NASL tourney. Therefore, none of the top koreans will even bother. I can see code A koreans coming to try their luck though.

Inc. + Gretorp casting, rofl. I've only watched them a couple of times but Gretorp is a tool, sorry. I think Kelly is better than him. Tasteless and Artosis are miles ahead of those two.

This also, in essence, is just a really big online tourney. There's something more interesting about a live tourney.

Lower level of competition as well.

All in all, its a great announcement and all, I'm pretty excited myself to have more Starcraft to watch, however let us not kid ourselves. NASL is not "bigger" or the "mecca of SC2 progaming".

russell pfister owns gosucoaching.com.

don't know who duncan stewart is.

Duncan Stewart is apparently some USC law school graduate according to the iNcontrol iNterview.

About the koreans......

"So we're considering having Koreans in the league as well, but probably capping them off at five or something like that. But if they were to play, unless they physically flew to a place that had a better latency for a North American server, they would have to deal with problems of time zone restrictions but also latency, and the same is true for Europeans and South Americans alike, obviously to varying degrees."

sadly I have to agree with this. it's essentially a large online tournament, which is cool, but doesn't have the "wow" factor of a LAN tournament. still cool that the final 16 will be in a studio though.

and i'm not totally sure on the format of the tournament. I feel it would be better with a GSL type qualifying process, where anyone can enter and 64 people make it into the bracket.

So, GoM SEEDS players into Code A and this is what we do? Seems a little unfair

well to be frank the cast itself was shait ... was outa sync alot ... the site looks rushed .... if this is going to succeed u will need to back alot more money into it .. better streaming ect ... you can see how much money the koreans put into there set for there games.

trying to make it look live also when it was obv it was replays and such :S

Guys make sure you look over all the candidates.. I see a lot of votes for some players who might not be as notable or popular, just because they are already on the first page.

The prize money feels inflated, but most likely isnt. This is league is going to awesome if it works out perfectly.

Axslav was a random player in wc3. one of the best and I was privileged to be manger on his team for a while. Very smart guy.

anyway.

Hopefully im not being a negative person but doesn't the fact that there is ZERO mention of a single sponsor kind of worry you?????

the whole "one hero will rise" and " a new age" or somethign sounded pretty cheesy to me. Anyway it is just an announcement trailer so no biggy. I think the actual tournament will be awesome.

And then every player is supposed to be backed by a $250 refundable fee. Essentially what it is, is every time they're rude or they're late or any kind of unforeseeable problems occur they'll be penalized $25 or $50 and that comes out of the refundable fee of course. But most people, hopefully all, will be completely and immaculately fine and will get that $250 back. But the idea is to make them accountable.

BM tax?
sounds interesting but its they taxed for being late they'll be pissed off when they have to play thier games

great news for the foreign scene, finally a truelly big competition as well, $100.000 prize pool.
Big concern I have though as that being from China I've not no option watching the intro video. Bliptv and youtube are both censored in China. So NASL change your player/get your own! you're letting down a huge potential fanbase for now, what will be used for livestreams?
Bigger than GSL, doesn't seem so, first of all it's mainly online, and mainly accesible for non-koreans/asians. Prize pool of $100.000 over a period of ~4months? That'll be comparable to 3~4 GSL's.
Nonetheless fcking sweet :D Can't wait till this gets started hope I can follow it properly from China, hopefully you made a good decision choosing a streaming partner.

"When you said that this is the biggest announcement in Western eSports history, do you stand by that?

I do, yeah. Which is awesome because it's a completely arbitrary and subjective statement. But I can with confidence say that from my perspective this is the biggest announcement in Western eSports."

Ever heard of CGS ? 20M$ in 2 years, broadcasted live on TV, etc. That was way bigger. Even if the show was horrible to watch and uninteresting.

No Kas or BratOK on the list yet. I'm sure there's many others still missing. But I'm confident they'll be added.
