...::: Latest Tea Party - Episode 9 :::... + Show Spoiler +
Introduction + Show Spoiler +I would like to take the pleasure to introduce all you fine folks to the Tea Party! Tea Party is a Starcraft 2 podcast between friends who are brought together through the love, appreciation and enjoyment of SC2 (original, I know). The show can be described as a relaxed commentary between learned gentlemen about a motley amalgam of things obvious and intricate. Basically, Tea Party can be likened to a variety show with a quaint SEA perspective. The show seeks to offer food for thought whilst entertaining SC2 players at large. Hosts + Show Spoiler + Henry - Breaker The main host. He has an open mind and is always looking to improve. For what it's worth, he was once ranked top 200 on the SEA server not long after release. Unfortunately, he has grown complacent and does not ladder as much as he should. He also participated in the beta. Henry recently upgraded his headset in order to provide a deeper, smoother, studio quality voice for the audience's listening pleasure. Henry plays Protoss and despises Terran.
Dennis - WakingLife The contender. The man with the experience; from humble beginnings in Bronze to current day Masters. Laddering more than any of the other hosts, Dennis has a vast pool of knowledge and experience to draw upon. He has witnessed and born the brunt of a variety of play-styles, skill levels, cheese and BS that SEA has thrown at him on his journey to Masters. Dennis is here to share what wisdom he has gathered in the hopes of helping everyone progress their own game. Dennis has dabbled in random for a while but mains as Zerg and occasionally weeps Swarm tears.
Matt - Sudoxe The anti-hero. Matt is the average Joe who keeps the show honest, real and in your face. You won't find him waffling or beating around the bush. In addition to being straight up, Matt is also quite the joker. He enjoys candlelit dinners, strolls along the beach and trolling. Matt plays Protoss and is slowly, but surely, climbing his way up the treacherous SEA ladder.
Jack - Elanshin The news guy. Jack probably watches more SC2 streams, videos and replays than is considered healthy. He lurks on TL.net more than any of the other hosts and is the man to go to for any SC2 news, announcements, competition results, drama etc. He also participated in the beta and enjoys roflstomping n00bs. Jack plays Terran and looks down on all the other races. He also looks like TSL_Rain.
In addition, we're all avid followers of the GSL/GSTL and we try to compete in as many local SEA based tournaments as possible such as; Dogsi's, IEM SEA Qualifiers, local LAN events ( e.g. Cityhunter etc). We look to be more active in the SC2 community and e-sports scene at large in the near future and appreciate any and all support.
Background + Show Spoiler +The spark and inspiration behind this show originated from Day9's union address in daily #232 . From this spark, I decided to actively contribute something to the SC2 community in one way or another after watching DJ Wheat's Weapon of Choice Ep20. The idea for a podcast came to mind after I realised I had some pretty good SC2 discussions over Skype with my friends. We jokingly referred to these discussions as 'tea parties' because sometimes we spent more time talking about the game rather than actually playing it. From there ... BAM! this podcast was born. I personally listen to State of the Game, amongst other podcasts, and I really want to make Tea Party something of its own. As such, I strive to minimise any overlap with other shows by having different content as well as offering different perspectives with a unique feel and delivery. Some things that separates us from other more established shows is that: - We are from Australia and play on the SEA server (yeah!) - We are not hardcore pro-gamers (yet!) - We are not idiots! (I promise ..) - We are friendly (<3) As if you're not sold, right? Homepage (You can find all our past episodes here)
RSS Feed (We're still trying to get it up on itunes and youtube - please bare with us!)
I thank those in advance for taking the time to listen to this podcast. The audio quality has improved dramatically since episode one. Unfortunately, episodes will come out less regularly than originally intended. We'll try to put something out each week depending on SC2 news and content. Please send us questions or topics that you would like to be discussed on the podcast either in this thread or via PM.
Any and all constructive feedback is welcome and appreciated. I will continue to update this original post with any new information or announcements so check back regularly!
Thanks again and enjoy
Peace.

Cheers mate, I appreciate it

the p.s sold me.
Downloading now.

i will listen to this!
would you consider making your cast available via online streaming?
I'm a SEA player myself and would like to hear a podcast that is a "bit" more localized.
Tea party is a bit confusing for a name though, i came here with the impression that i would read post on trolling on American politics. XD
|
I hope you know that here in America, being involved in the "tea party" would make me think you have a room-temperature IQ, although it is unlikely you are refering to politics, seeing that banner
User was temp banned for this post.

Hi 6xy!
Streaming (and video recordings) is definitely something I've considered. Simply put, it all comes down to how popular the show is. We want to take baby steps/test the waters first. As you can see, we don't even have a site/twitter/facebook group yet! haha. This is still a very early time for the Tea Party podcast but rest assured, we are keeping our minds open to cater for our viewers
It's great to know that there are other SEA players out there that want content that is more localised. We will definitely keep that in mind for our future episodes (e.g. Dogsi's monthly tournament etc).
|
Heya Chriamon,
Although I'm all the way here in Australia, I do take a gander at the US political climate every now and then just to know what's up around the world. I was very aware of the potential confusion that the podcast name might bring, but I wanted to stay true to the roots of the show and decided to stick with it, haha.
|
Yeah I hate to be an annoying american, but if you want to appeal to anyone in USA I recommend getting rid of the Tea Party slogan. Tea Time? Tea Break? Who knows, but Tea Party will only attract 80 year old white Americans. If you aren't trying to get American supporters, may as well keep it, however.
|
Why don't you guys stop looking for attention and leave politics out of it? Ya, its possible that someone might THINK there is a relevance when opening this post. However, after spending a minute reading the post, anyone will know it has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Insulting tea party members is no different than insulting democrats or republicans. give it a rest.
On topic: I look forward to checking this out once I get home. Nice to see more people stepping up to put on this type of web casts.
|
Jeremy,
So they should advertise with the same name as a major highly polarized political party? Seems like every time they say the name of the cast they will have to clarify that it's not SC cast for TPers. Look at the comic Hellblazer. It was going to be called "Hellraiser" which, IMO is much cooler, but used Hellblazer due to a certain movie coming out at the same time with the same name. It's not like this cast has any brand recognition yet, why confuse it with political name?

Stay on topic and leave the tea party stuff alone. The man is aware of it.
|
"but Tea Party will only attract 80 year old white Americans"
That is what is wrong with your post. You went out of your way to insult people and was probably the only reason you hit reply. And like Nyovne mentioned, he already stated in the OP that he was aware of the similarity and clarified there is no relation. That should be enough to move on and avoid trying to spark political insults.
|
Looking forward to future podcasts! I think it's great that the SEA region is getting a podcast of it's own. 'Cept for players like mOOnglade you don't hear much of out SEA and I think it's a region/server with a lot of potential, some good players, and a very proud community.
Good stuff!
|
Very nice. I love seeing people contribute to esports instead of begin like me and just wait for others to make it happen^^
GL
|
I'm loving the SEA stuff that is popping out, zerglike, all over the creep, er, place. Going to listen now. Good luck and anticipatorially, thanks!
EDIT: Oh, forgot to say - I know some TL peoples find such requests irritating but... any chance of a iTunes version? iTunes is the only way I manage to keep track off all the cool content around the SC2verse these days...
|
Hello Chocopan~
Yes, I will try to put these up on itunes in the future when I have more episodes down. I'll be sure to let you know when that happens. Your request is not irritating at all
|
|
hmmm good to see more SEA podcasts! although pretty questionable name.
|
I wonder if these militant anti-tea partiers have wrote angry letters demanding they rename the Mad Hatters Tea Party to his Picnic.
On topic... Yay for more Aus SC2 stuff!
|
Very happy about this. Will give feedback, definitely. This is great for the SEA community.
|
More SC2 podcasts are always good. I'll start listening to this tomorrow on the way to work.
Thank you!
|
Please remember to give feedback guys, I'm all ears
Your suggestions may very well steer the future direction we take with the podcast!
|
yeah, i'm looking forward to listening to this during work. thanks a lot guys, i always love new podcasts!
edit: i'd like to see a rss feed i can subscribe to you'll get my feedback as soon as i listened to it, hope you can make work a lot easier for me!
|
Very well written OP. Can't wait to give this a listen. Any plans on putting this on itunes?
|
|
Just got through episode 1. Not bad at all for a first try. I enjoyed it.
A few suggestions:
-You need more personnality. Feel free to let go of yourselves, get more excited, be more extraverted. -Fix your mic, obviously

SEA Represent *thug snaps*
Perhaps one episode you could do an interview with moonglade? That would be sweet.
User questions at the end like SOTG do would be sweet too.
Needs more lulz. It's a little too serious.
The music at the start is epic ^__^
|
Just listened to the cast. And I think it was awesome, keep up the good work and I will keep on suporting by listening to it weekly
|
Thanks so much for the feedback so far. Everything said has been noted.
LET THERE BE MOAR LULZ

I know what you mean... I typed that and deleted it from my first post so many times...

Episode 2 is now up!
Profanity levels are also a bit higher than the previous episode so be warned. This time around there is also more SEA related content. We're still experimenting with the show format so please bare with us!
Please post or PM any questions or points you want to be addressed in future episodes
EDIT: Apologies with the background Skype sounds. They are now permanently turned off.
|
comment regarding ep2:
to increase activity and centralisation, we should get more tournaments going and try to attract more lower league players as well. i'm sure if we come up with more tourneys, we can ask City Hunter to host our events.
|
Lots of improvements in episode 2. Better energy for sure. Good job!
|
Thanks for the encouragement REM.ca
Update: Homepage and RSS Feed links in the OP. We're still working on getting it on itunes. A new thread banner is also in the works
|
First things first, make sure you edit your mp3 tags! Only takes a few seconds and saves music organization freaks like me time. At very minimum edit your artist, album and genre.
In general the energy in the second episode was much better. Easier to keep interest.
For real, even if Henry (I think its Henry at least) has bad audio quality, make sure he's as loud as everyone else. I would turn it up to listen to him and then everyone else ended up be too loud when they started talking again.
As for recommendations, maybe talk about Assembly and the TSL qualifiers?
Overall not bad. There are a lot of really good podcasts that have had muuuuch worse first couple episode. I'm looking forward to the next episode.
Goodluck!

I care so little about the political party, that when I read this, I thought you were talking about the Boston Tea Party for a few minutes.

In Australia Voting in Mandatory, so the many people like myself who actually do not care for politics just end up donkey voting. So sometimes elections are won out of luck (our last one was a very close vote apparently).
Thus spawned our first female PM in Australia - Julia Gillard (lol, just kidding, of course she won out of merit and good campaigning)
At least in the U.S (and UK) voting is optional so you don't get donkey voters inflating the party that happened to be placed on top of the ballet paper.
YEAH! Thanks for having me as a guest on the second episode! Even though I said like 4 useless lines, still cool!
|
Hey dear aussie mates, thanks for this gem. I've grown up in Australia so I love when people that speak proper english talk about Starcraft
Keep up the work, although please fix the following points: - turn of skype sounds while recording, its nerv-wrecking - maybe try to level out the microphone volumes, and even do test runs before recording, because it was very inequal in possibility of understanding what is said depending on who was talking.
|
Great stuff but as others have said and I'm sure you're aware, audio quality/volume could use some adjustments.
Keep making these and I'll keep listening! I can somehow never get enough of hearing and talking about starcraft...
|
Thanks for the support guys! I got a new headset/mic just in time for the 3rd episode so I hope the audio quality is satisfactory. The third episode will be uploaded in about an hour! (even more lulz this time around).
Please remember to send in feedback or suggestions to this thread, via PM or to starcraft2.teaparty@gmail.com
Enjoy
EDIT: Isn't the new forum banner awesome? INORITE?
|
|
Well done guys. I'll listen in and give feedback :D
|
Just finished listening to it, and thought it was pretty good.
I got a bit confused at the start as to who was talking, but Henry seemed to start announcing people by their names before they spoke so it got heaps better towards the end.
I especially liked that you guys were making people aware of www.sc2sea.com etc (cause i had no idea about that site, and a few other tournies etc).
Just thought i'd add at the end that i'm simply only saying this stuff constructively but i thought it was a really good podcast, and i like the idea of the lolx channel too.
Nice work guys.
|
Thanks for listening fusihunter
we'd like suggestions on what you guys would like us to cover and any other feedback is heaps good
|
I want to know when Breaker will get out of diamond. Frankly he's an embarrassment to the show.
It's still great though. I hope this podcast will grow the SEA community.
|
haahhahahaha
Come to channel 'lolx' and practice with me, Loring. I'm secretly masters level .... cough ..... ye ........
But cheers for the support, we appreciate it
P.S. What will you do when I'm finally masters? WHAT WILL YOU DO?
|
Start laddering breaker, your rank is a disgrace - less sleeping more laddering.

Well, I don't think that's something I have to worry about.
By the way, I'm already in lolx, hiding in the massive amount of people here. Just gathering information until I have enough to humiliate you in an incredible showmatch.
This is Grade A espionage I'm talking about. I almost feel sorry for you.
|
Question, how can you have a tea party without TB? o.O
It makes no sense!
|
@ Loring: I knew it Loring. Obvious troll is obvious. >
@ StarStruck: Help us get TB on the podcast and life will be perfect
|
Breaker. I'm just having a laugh mate. I am in lolx, and I think the channel is good for SEA.
Good luck with episode 4.
|
Episode 4/5 is now up!
Fun Fact#9000: You can listen to us on your way to work/school/uni! AWESOME :D
Enjoy~

*ahem... episode 4/5 is probably the best....maybe keep that guy. He sounds good.

This post offends me. I'm a tea party member at age 24. The Starcraft community is diverse, ethnically, politically, etc. I would have hoped that the more liberal members would refrain from posting their hatred in this thread, too bad that didn't happen. I don't go around threads slagging moveon or huffpo or SEIU.
More on topic, great stuff! Loving the cast.

Cheers Eeniebear, thanks for the support from the US

What is up everyone? Tea Party episode 6 is OUT!
It has come to my attention that Jack, one of the podcast's hosts, looks like TSL_Rain. Coincidence? I THINK NOT .....
As always, thanks for the support. We really appreciate it Please leave any feedback or comments in this thread~

Hey, im trying to gather interest in a society for UQ and other Queensland universities so we can make SC2 a popular game between unis by having fun tournaments (like 'State of Origin' UQ/QUT vs UNSW/UTS). Leave a reply in the thread if you are interested.

Tea Party episode 7 is OUT!
This time around we have a special female guest on the show! The one and only CheekyDuck. You may know her from her stream on Teamliquid and association with such names as the infamous Destiny or Suspense (the guy who makes SC2 songs).
Thanks to our loyal listeners. Everyone's been getting busier as we get back into the swing of uni and real life in general. Please leave any comments, compliments or feedback in this thread.
Cheers!

Tea Party episode 8 is OUT!
This episode is one of our more technical podcasts with particular focus on the repercussions of the fungal growth and stim changes. This time around we have George (AKA Genesis) on the show to talk about the UTS Starcraft society and the upcoming charity event for Japan. Dennis is also recovering from burning 6 of his fingers.

Sorry guys, shame on me i'm a bit late with listening and therefore feedback. Nice episode again, interesting and well-worded discussions.
But what of course makes me sad is the absence of Matt I hope you guys responded this step with the proper measures of accusing him of getting socially isolated and wasting his life on a MMO, like good fellows do.
