I honestly don't understand why people are complaining about this, what is bad about having a second account?? Starcraft 1 was fine with multiple accounts (although there was a lot of smurfing but that can be countered pretty easily if it is implemented right) and so are many other games out there. I just can't understand some of you people who complain about free things.

most likely just people who are pissed they bought 2+ accounts already on the same server, if they waited afew weeks they'd have one free.

I suppose a second account would be nifty, but it would be so much better if we were allowed to set it to a different region. Would like to play with some people in EU, but not going to pay for another copy just for that.

This would be soooooo awesome although you would have more smurfs you can work on your off race for fun and not have to care. There really wouldn't be that many more smurfs just more people playing off race

This is awesome. People are scared to play different races due to their fear of losing on ladder, and sometimes can't get good buddies to 1v1 with on customs. I think having a second account will allow people to offrace/(cheese) - if its not their main more often.

PTR allows 1 account to use 2 different nick names that offer their own ladder rankings. I can play 1 account as Terran and be Gold and another as Zerg and be diamond.
However, in SC2 these 2 accounts do not mean anything, I believe the SC2-I and SC2-II are merely by products of PTR but I believe that once the PTR is patched into SC2 that we will be getting a 2nd account for our region. I think it's a great idea and I would bet my bottom dollar that blizzard is going to charge extra for additional accounts, probably not $50 but I'd say around 15$.

I highly doubt this two accounts is going to be implemented, I agree with the others saying its to test out having multiple CD keys.

I dont understand how anyone sees this as blizzard giving you 2 accounts when you buy one, all it is is implementation of the ability to have multiple copies under the same bnet id.
Do not get your hopes up thinking that you will get 2 accounts for 1, thats rediculous.

I don't know if this is actually what you think it is...
It might just be the ability to have multiple cd keys (accounts) on the same battle.net account, just like you could with world of warcraft.

this is a FANTASTIC idea. Thats the way it was with starcraft 1 wasnt it? you could just keep making new names and new IDs with better and better records as you got better.
Lets say a noob bronze player works his butt off to become a masters level player. his record since he got into masters is 600-200....thats pretty damn good. thats some Select shit goin down there. butttttttt because he was a noob in bronze for so long his record is like....1000-2000. thats HORRIBLE. he shouldnt have to pay 60$ just to reset his account? thats stupid and retarded and thats blizzard saying "hey give me more money." Same with name changes...World of warcraft you can make new accounts and new characters why cant you in starcraft 2?
Who cares about smurf accounts anyways? that really only matters in tournaments....and i guarantee that there will be a way to see every "character name" on the account so tournament holders can check it.

I can't imagine the sales numbers for people buying multiple copies to play on other servers is over a few thousand max. Making hundreds of thousands of customers happy is worth much more.

With Activision's business practices... I don't know about this.
I find it perfectly find to have a separate ID for the game though. Smurfing won't be so bad compared to SC1 - SC1 (and WC3) you were allowed to have multiple accounts - this restricts you to just two.

You are wrong. I have 2 accounts right now. I went only went on the PTR with one of them. I checked both accounts on the PTR and only the account that had been on there before has that 2 account option (probably should reword that). the other one doesn't have that option. There are multiple explainations but yours definately isnt conclusive

From what i understand the ptr will give you a new account that stacks on your account.
THis doesnt mean that blizzard is going to give you 2 for 1, thats stupid. Its just evidence of future implementation of the option to merge multiple accounts, or buy a second copy of starcraft under the same id.

I think a better solution to the whole multiple accounts thing is to create a separate MMR for each race. This way, only one account is needed, so smurfs are not to be worried about. It also allows for variability in play, since you play against people of your level no matter your race.
