Terrible OP :\ 1 line and a youtube video... sigh. You should just put this in Idra fanclub or youtube videos thread. This isn't exactly awesome enough for it's own thread. At least not in my opinion. Funny video though. He's done a few other good ones too.

Such a troll, such a good troll. Just look at the last second of that video he's got the stupidest grin on his face. Hilarious stuff and a funny guy.
I think he's a pretty huge troll - when the first video of DjWheat surfaced it sounded somewhat legit - but all the other videos are just largely troll videos. :<

yes. At first he seems just a bit ironic, but after watching a few videos I too think he might be a troll.
"And God, I, I hope that whenever he loses he doesn't print off some paragraph of insulting things about you know.. calling people stacks of mother fuckers and everything like that"
He's pretty funny I suppose. I feel bad that he only has like... 1 view on almost ALL of his videos. I can't say I watched any of them because the titles weren't enticing enough. Maybe if he spruced up his deliveries he'll be more "Internet Famous" lol.

What else are you supposed to expect? Anytime religion is brought into secular matters, there are always bias opinions floating about on what they think is right.
Out of of shear epicness though, I subscribed to this guy. Hope he keeps his jokes within the Sc scene cause I watched some of his past stuff, and it's not as funny. Cept for the gay one rofl.
Aigoo, When Dj Wheat played the one with the shoutout to himself, I was laughing so hard. Like with the church of e-sports. But that one was quite believable, Never knew there were more, or he made more after, something must be up if he shoutouts all these names, but maybe he just likes it and wants to give them his blessing ^__^ or maybe he got a lot of views with the gaming theme, I don't know but its awesome! Brother Mack says it, don't care what you say

I agree he could have said more. I also feel as the theme has changed and even though OP edited i almost feel the OP should start a new thread (not sure if it's possible to rename the thread if so just do that) cuz this guy is legit hilarious and all his vids should be seen imo

I actually thought about it, the reason I decided to post a new thread is because this guy is too funny and I figured a new thread would get more eyeballs, I actually just saw a thread posted in a blog section, however, this one lives on. As for IdrA in the title, I actually didn't intend to post the other videos until I noticed the Day9 one and then the other ones as well.
The videos speak for themselves, much better than I could have written.

what's the name of the new thread? i searched under Brother Mack before posting and only came up with this one and another with far less replies and only two of the videos.
I understand the original intention and happy though the theme changed this thread is still up i guess my wording was a little off i apoligize, and though i do agree more could have been said, i probably should have also said im ok with what u did...i know lots of backtracking but even in irl i don't always get what i mean out the first time around :-/
It's definatly an awesome thread regradless and i'm happy u posted and i came across it!

Is it just me or when he says "We need to go in a new direction with this" in his djWHEAT clip, it sounds like "We need to go in a nude erection" as he's talking about the gamer girls? Just a thought.

That's standard fundamentalist/charismatic Christian talk. If you grew up in the rural South and/or Texas, you've probably encountered that kind of rhetoric your whole life.
Leaving aside the SC2 appeal, Brother Mack provides some of the best satire I've seen in a long time. I'd pay money to hear him shoutcast a TvZ in which he refers to upgraded banelings as "demonic holyrollers."
now this is how you troll. It's funny and it speaks a bit of truth (albeit in a troll like way, with a tinge of humor) and keeps it short and concise. The follow up of djWHEAT sends shivers up my spine though XD. W/O a doubt though, the IdrA is my favorite. Freggin love IdrA but Brother Mack made me laugh so hard xD
I personally find it a offensive coming from a Christian background, I shouldn't be so uptight (maybe I should?) but yeah. Funny jokes and comments that are golden, but just offends me.

People - Christians or w/e - should not be offended at all by satire. Why? cause it's SATIRE... Strange that there are people on tl who actually reason like that and are offended that easy , no offense but i am just surprised by that...

That's not true. Satire is meant to ridicule someone or some group's shortcomings, in the hope that through shaming them, it can change their behavior. If you're a part of the group being made fun of, it's understandable that you'd be offended. It doesn't mean that satire is bad, though, because it is just a form of social commentary.

He's satirizing a very specific kind of Christian, namely a shyster televangelist with a puerile mind. I had to watch way too many of those "evangelists" at the homes of elderly relatives in the late 80s, and Brother Mack's satire is spot on.

People really shouldn't get offended by things.
You should realise that your comment, in asking him to be more tolerant of good humor, is also being rather intolerant of his sensibilities by trying to tell him what he should or should not be upset about. If you have really gone to church for 19 years, you would at least see how it would be possible that someone with serious religious convictions would be offended by someone comparing God to a 4GB memory stick.
And I wanted to point this out especially since serA made his point a really a personal observation. He's not calling on us to not watch the video, or saying it stinks, just that he was personally offended. He isn't telling us to do anything, but you are. Imho serA there's nothing wrong sticking to your religious convictions, and this comes from someone who is pretty much areligious.

I was slightly offended, and also incredibly entertained. Sometimes being offended by comedy is what makes it genuine, and as long as it's done jokingly and not intentionally hateful, I think it's pretty cool =]

I could write an essay about this topic, but I don't want to derail the thread and waste people's time with giant walls of text, so i'll sum it up:
People should put themselves past being offended by comedy. The world would be a better place.

making a public point about how you're personally offended invites critique only way this should be offensive to a christian is if they see the elements hes mocking in their religion and are embarrassed of them, in which case they have bigger problems to worry about anyway.

how am i embarrassed at all? I just feel that his satire is ridiculing something that I hold to be true. I was not trying to start anything at all just saying how I feel and how I look at the videos. I hold on firmly to what I believe in. People might say loosen up and don't take things seriously, but from my point of view (lets just pretend that "A" religion is 100% true and a person believes it to be true) I just don't like some of the remarks that he made (not because I'm embarrassed, but because I don't feel they are right) that is all. I'm sorry, but I'm not one of those people who really like to be luke-warm about their beliefs and just pretend I like it because that is not what Christianity entails.
If you want to get into a huge conversation just PM or something. To everyone, I'm sincerely sorry this thread got derailed and that was not my intentions whatsoever. He is quite funny and he does satire those TV evangelists ^^ which is pretty gold but just some comments are a little offensive that is all.
Going around pretending to know everything and assuming that when people actually stand up for what they believe in is synonymous to being embarrassed. PM me IdrA ^^ and I'll be happy to discuss anything or state out any reasoning behind what I believe and why it is offensive. Anyway sorry again ^^

if people mocking your religion bothers you its because you know on some level how ridiculous your beliefs are.

You fail to understand the fact that different people have different sensibilities.
If someone says really bad things about you and your family you get really pissed off about it, even if they are totally untrue. Its the same thing with religious beliefs, if someone does something to belittle your faith, some people get offended by it, others don't. It does not have anything to do with the basis/ validity of your religious belief.

youd have to be pretty insecure to actually be offended by someone you dont know saying untrue insults about you or your family. sure youd find it stupid and annoying, but thats not the same as taking offense to something.
people are always extraordinarily sensitive when it comes to religion because most of their beliefs are so patently absurd that any little thing could upset the mental gymnastics required to accept all of it.

Thats is a great quote but not supportive of believing in something without proof. More like reserving judgment until the evidence is in, for example extraterrestrial life (earth could be unique, could be not - we don't know yet).

But, I digress. Brother Mack?
In context: Appeal to ignorance - the claim that whatever has not been proved false must be true, and vice versa (e.g., there is no compelling evidence that UFOs are not visiting the Earth; therefore UFOs exist - and there is intelligent life elsewhere in the Universe. Or: there may be seventy kazillion other worlds, but not one is known to have the moral advancement of the Earth, so we're still central to the Universe). This impatience with ambiguity can be criticized in the phrase: absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. - Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World

Moreover, I understand you are into the starcraft2 scene, how would you feel coming to MLG Dallas (april 1st-3rd) i'm sure if you talk to DJWHEAT he could talk to jp or something and get you a free pass (if money is an issue). Furthermore, your incite and praying would make a great addition to MLG--try your best to make it there. I must meet you. I pray for your soul.
Not the best casting quite yet. But it is his first game. I can't wait to see how good he can get at it. Loved the praying, that was pretty awesome. Just needs a bit more enthousiasm I guess.

that's exactly what trolling is.... playing a fake roll, but it's intended to enrage people
Sorry, who exactly is he enraging? Pretty much everyone finds him hilarious. If making everyone laugh is considered trolling now, I guess I should photoshop some trollfaces on Mitch Hedberg, as well as every actor who has ever played a role in a comedy.
Seriously, if you're going to call someone a troll understand the very basics of what a troll is.
More Brother Mack videos updated. I saw one of his threads was closed by Kennegit. (Kennegit wanted Brother Mack to compile all his materials into one thread.)
If its possible either Brother Mack should get the power to update this thread, or create his own, and I'll discontinue this one, and have a link to his thread in the OP of this thread.
Anyhow, I present to you in the OP, more Brother Mack goodness.
Hmm, did he post that thread in the SC2 general forum?
Would have thought that the blogs would serve his material well enough. Can't blame a guy for wanting to spread his first SC2 song to the masses though.
As for this one, I'll just update the OP with his, and let this sit, if an admin/mod would like to close it, thats fine, but otherwise just leave it open, nothing bad will come if its just open.

if people mocking your religion bothers you its because you know on some level how ridiculous your beliefs are.
Oh yes, I forgot how fragile the religion of Augustine, Dostoevsky, Kierkegaard, Martin Luther King Jr., Francis of Assissi, Gregory of Nyssa, Johann Georg Hamann, Descartes, Goethe, Hans Urs Von Balthasar, William Alston, Alvin Plantinga, David Bentley Hart, Jaroslav Pelikan, and thousands of other influential (in varying degrees) Christian intellectual's is. I can literally make this list go to a 1000 names of Christian intellectuals you can wikipedia easily, what would you like? Historians, Philosophers, Scientists, Doctors, Writers, martyrs? If you want to expand the criteria to "people who believe in some sort of higher power" you look absolutely insane....because of course Plato and Aristotle had no good ideas, and how fragile was a Mr. Einstein. I forgot Greg Fields was the authority here.........(I am a huge fan of your play though, I just don't think you know jack shit about intellectual history and philosophy, perhaps you like Dawkins and Hitchens though).
Wow some craziness about to go down in here lol. Always enjoy the brother mack vids though that guys hilarious, should bring him out to perform at an MLG but I'm sure that'd offend a ton of people haha Keep it up brother mack I'll be prayin' fur ya! :D
