I would like to remind everyone of something Day[9] said, that esports is not going to become popular through people putting eachother down for their contributions (paraphrasing). I think we can all respect the work that went into this video. Please, rather than making divisive comments about one caster or another, lets just talk about the video. And, personally, I appreciate every game that is casted by everyone, and I could care less about their financial specifics. Funny song. Excellent work on the lyrics. But I would like something a bit more upbeat next time. (I'm sorry, but I can't be bothered to sift through these comments to see if anyone else has cited what Day[9] said).

And he got a ridiculous haircut to earn more money for himself? Oh, and look, a Day[9] video in 4 parts... Day[9] must have done it for the money, too. http://www.youtube.com/day9tv#p/u/137/tohnP5C1nJA I like Husky because he stays himself, he does what he likes to do instead of trying to suit any audience. He posts videos of himself playing other games because he wants to and doesn't care that others think he shouldn't. I especially liked how he made fun of that in the BlackOps video a while ago. He also says himself that he is not a good player (though i think his play is actually quite good, though his mechanics are lacking) and just wants to entertain. And in the end he is one of the most mature casters out there. I never heard him using any "bad words" nor does he ever say that a player is bad or stupid. Well, he likes to make fun of people that don't like him, but... who doesn't? You can like him for the entertainment or just not watch him, but hating on him is just stupid. There is no reason to. It makes as much sense as hating on Day[9] because of the horrible advertising on blip.tv... Day[9]`s video is in 4 parts because he is not sponsored by google. He gets zero money for his videos (with the exception of donations). Husky makes parts because he gets more views and in return more money. I personally dont like huskies style, but I have no problem with him.

This is just like "ok let's replace the lyrics of a backstreet boys song with SC2 quotes". Except day9 was here before anyone even knew husky existed.

Just enjoy the song, and if you like it, good on you. If you don't look at something else but appreciate the effort put in to making the song. ^-^V Peace!

BUT Husky does care for the SC community: 1. Was casting lots of broodwar. He had tons of vids but he had to take it all down to get his partnership because of copyright infringement 2. Put out load of SC2 commentaries in HD quality when they were scarce (beta) 3. Organised and ran one of the first big SC2 tournaments HDH. He had no real experience prior to this, but he did it and did it pretty well and kept a lot of people entertained. This must of taken a lot of time and energy 4. Willing to go cast at tournaments 5. Makes some professionally produced SC2 music videos (Has anyone else even done one? They may not be to everyones taste, but comeon). 4 million views?? It would be fair to claim Husky has done fuck loads for Starcraft. Furthermore, it is clear that Husky has brought a large number of people out from the shadows and into the SC community and TL. He is probably got more people into watching SC vids as entertainment (not just improving your play) than anyone else. Not everyone has to be good as SC2. Hell, I was in diamond (I had to quit cause of medschool) but I still watch his videos regularly even though I dont play the game. Before criticising his analysis, think that there are way more people out there who watch the game just for fun and entertainment, not to really become a pro. (If you are trying to be a pro why on earth are you complaining about him. Its quite obvious there are other people who can help you improve your play) Husky does make money from his casting. So what?? If he can make a full time decent paid job form SC2 then whats the problem? Isnt this what Day9, Tasteless, Artosis, Hotbid are doing amongst others. Im pretty sure a lot of people hate his guts for this (ahem Idra) and his apparent lack of talent. There are loads of people who have put in countless more hours into SC with less to show for it. SO isnt this just sour grapes? Other criticisms such as splitting up videos. This used to be done because of a) HD videos (1080p) take ages to upload and frequently fail (40% of the time) b)he used to have a normal internet connection. So this is quite nderstandable. Guess what tho? Now he has a decent internet connection the games are really long and not split into parts, For putting adverts on youtube before the video. HAve you even watched Day[9]s blip tv? Most youtube channels? The adverts there are the same if not worse. Casting talent. This is subjective. Dont like it, dont watch it. Wait 300,000+ people like his stuff. It would be fair to claim he is the "one of the biggest if not the biggest SC2 caster". Its not like a TV program (GOM GSL) where you are forced to watch the guys. Also its just pure SC2. I dont have to look at his face at various times too. Being homosexual. Dont be so bigoted. U got pussy in the last video Dissing Idra. Idra just ripped into Husky. The guy needs to grow up and learn some social skills (how to better express his opinions for one). If I have missed anything out (good or bad), quote this post and say why. PS. I found it better to listen to the SCV song. The lyrics are wicked If anyone wants to criticise Husky, please read above before doing so.

Look in the mirror. How much have YOU done for e-sports. For those whineing about the money issue. I suppose that MLG or GOMtv does nothing for e-sports as well because they make money? Even if he was in it purely for the money, how is that different than any other profession? He makes content that hundreds of thousands of people enjoy. People need to stop complaining constantly. Its free entertainment. If you don't like Husky then for christ sakes, don't watch him. Grow up.

Anyway, the song is actually pretty good. I didn't like it at first but then I listened to it again and found it enjoyable.

You don't mock someone's genuine willingness to help the community and not expect some kind of backlash. Let's also be honest, the backlash from my end was mild at best. We know exactly what he meant when he laughed. I doubt most sane, rational people would be concerned with said respect either. That is after all, what friends are for. Ya don't abandon them or let someone slander their good name just because that person happens to be the Big Bad Wolf of SC2, huffing and puffing and trying to blow your supply depot home down ![]() Defending your friend is fine but saying you don't give a shit about someones respect for you or husky because they're a random person on the internet helps about as much as your defending your friend. Believe it or not, you too, are just a random person on the internet to everyone here on TL. Husky isn't a saint and neither are you. If you think that you're the king of trolling the internet then you'd realize that people stating their opinions on husky are just as, if not more relevant and helpful than you trying to defend husky from idra, who quite frankly, could be a dick at times, but has garnered respect from tens of thousands of more people than yourself or husky. But respect is useless on the internet, luckily the 300k subs that husky has are on the internet but at least anyone who's met Idra in person at the events he goes to realizes he's one hell of a guy, and has respect in person that you won't get from saying you're a better troll

I think it's awesome that more (genres of) songs will in fact be made in the future by these guys though. It's something to look forward to. But even though I like stuff like song parodies, I do hope Husky keeps the commentaries coming as well. I like Husky as an entertaining caster. P.S: After reading about 15 pages of internet drama I decided I had enough. For some reason I find reading people's personalities through internet drama interesting in a way. But only to a certain extent.

A caster giving information on what I want and the way I want it. Do I subscribe and watch every one of his videos? No, do I turn it off because "he has no discernible skills", no that is just silly. The guy is a personality, similar to Day9, the same? No but it's similar. Apples and oranges where TotalBiscuit is grapes(because all of them across the pond have that tart feel. I jest, you gents are great). They are all in the fruit family, casting and informing masses. I could say the same for anybody else in not your typical "profession". An outsider looking at eSports and gaming could say the same exact thing about playing games like Starcraft for a living. That is just silly. Husky has done more for pro gaming in this past year than I can think most have done in a decade. Reaching people & raising awareness In the end it is what everyone wants. The fans want it, the players want it, and the casters want it. He's reaching more players and fans than Day9, that is just nuts when you think about it. It's a bit more productive for everyone telling his subscribers to vote on a popularity poll on G4 than to be known as eSports gaming bad guy. I don't know the guy like Totalbiscuit does, I don't watch the guy like his fans do, I don't hate on the guy like Idra does, but from the videos that I have watched I don't know why anyone wouldn't like him - other than think it's cool and hip to hate on the guy with as much influence as he has.
