I feel as though Husky is a perfect example of what you can achieve when you get into something at the START. I'm not a Husky fan, I'm not a fan of any caster. Casters don't deserve fans, players do.
I attribute Husky's success to his determination and his being here from the get go in SC2, and NOTHING ELSE. His skills or abilities are irrelevant, its the fact that he puts out content and has done so from the start, whether or not he is "doing it for the community" is also irrelevant. Good or bad (his effect on the community), it's a side effect of his determination to gain views and subscribers (in an effort to make more $). I just wish people would stop arguing about whether or not he's good at what he does, because obviously, it doesn't matter.

I dont understand how husky is this huge gateway into e-sports.

If husky wasent around there would still be 300k+ people who want to watch SC2 casts, it just so hapens he was able to get that many subs.

In addition the majority of his casts are all ladder based. Rarely does he cover any esport event and then sticks the vods on his youtube page.

Husky is the halo equiv of the weekly top 10 kills. This doesent bring people to MLG it just gives existing fans something they find entertaining to watch.

I would disagree. I know my cousin watches Husky, but rarely watches Day9 Dailies as an hour is a long time to watch. I've been trying to get him to watch the GSL free vod's. (No way he'll watch it live at 2-4am in the morning.) So that is one Husky fan, that would probably not otherwise watch SC2 esports.

i think he's just easy to watch

you watch it for entertainment not for hardcore analysis, he knows this and stays true to it which is what he did from the start

haters gonna hate, its not like he didnt try to be where he is, hes even said the videos he puts out on a regular basis take alot of his time up + iirc he still works

so if he wants to do a parody, why shouldnt he?

I didn't like this video. Baneling song was pretty awesome though.

I would give it a 3/10.
I had a good night of sleep.

Husky probably got more mainstream (new) people into starcraft than anyone else. It would be awesome if he could make a living from it. For those who complain about Husky selling making money etc, have you watched blip tv (Day9)? The adverts are horrendous, but I still watch it when I need a fix. Its called popularity. The only way you can make money from something is if people want to watch your stuff. If you dont like it because you dont like the guy, don't watch it- he wont make as much money. Also if you got issues about him making SC2 music too, then get real. The music is better overall (producing/lyrics/ overall presentation/ video) than most.
Complaints about selling out/making money/diversifying are completely unjustifiable.

On topic, I thought the video was borderline "glee" at first, but on a few watches I came to appreciate the humour and lyrics of the song. Its a grower.

Husky's videos aren't funny (which his SCV Love Song just goes to prove), nor are his commentaries useful. So I don't understand this community's loyalty to him, particularly as his newer work becomes increasingly less relevant to SC2. It also seems stupid how quickly people will turn on Idra for having the balls to point out Husky's obvious lack of skill, especially when there is so much talent coming from other commentators. Just sayin'.

Thanx idrage, was worth to make a new account.
But just sayin', why idra feel he HAVE to point out this ? It's not like husky or anyone were pretending he is skilled, he's just making video ffs.
If you want to find stupidity, you should ask yourself why idra is coming to attack people for no reason. Perhaps not stupidity, I'd say lack of maturity at least. (wich is understandable with his background)

What you mean with that? if you know something, can you tell about it here?

So you don't like the video because it doesn't make "sense" .. it is fucking parody, a joke, a satirical take on boy bands and nerds.. and the guy had a jacket, and then took it off and put on a shirt.. that is kind of funny that is all you are mad at hahaha you made me lol

song is really boring

baneling song was a good idea, but making more songs just for the sake of making more songs with halfbaked ideas doesn't work.

Everyone in this thread is missing the point. Husky doesn't care about SC2 / Casting / Etc. He cares about one thing. Money. He makes these garbage parody videos to take advantage of the SC2 fan base's viewer-ship in order to get paid by youtube. He cuts up his videos in 10 minute increments to maximize views (in order to get more money). The SC2 community really doesn't need him, his casts are abysmal as well as his strats, Day9 or Djwheat and others are way better.

Sure this video wasn't as funny as banelings but i still found this song awesome. Had a boy band kind of feel and the lyrics were perfectly fitting. Found the song more cute than funny but still enjoyed it. I guess you either like it or you don't.

So everyone is wrong and you are right? .. oh that's where i was going wrong.. you can't speak for Husky's motives any more than the next guy.. why wouldn't you believe he loves the community and loves making money.. why are those things mutually exclusive? This guy has been casting since BW where he was making sweet fuck all so don't juts jump on the troll wagon. He loves sc2, he loves casting and does a lot for the community and omg if he makes money along the way who the fuck cares!? So what!? he is meant to sacrifice all his time for free?

Get real kid.. nothing is for free in this world; i doubt his main motivation was $$$ and even if it is; so fuckign what? He is done more for esports than you could ever dream of accomplishing..

What he's saying is the style he does it in, a lot of the content Husky puts out is done in a way to make money, like cutting up his videos into multiple parts, or recasting games that I guess kinda belong to other casters. These are just the things he does, and on the surface it appears that he is doing it for more hits, but what do I know, I am not risking aggravating anyone over this.

Anyways I would be careful what you guys say about Husky, some of the mods happen to be fans of his and are not afraid to hand out 7 day bans (cough cough) for assertions that Husky is doing it for the money.

PS: Husky's facial hair must be even more horrifying in real life (I mean that in the kindest way possible)
Can you ever argue in favor of something without first proving it?

To be fair we're spoiled in terms of casters and people doing basically free stuff. And when you compare Husky to people like Day9, Artosis and Tasteless its a given he won't be half as good commenting. He doesn't have the charisma of Wheat or JP. But what he does is invite bronze players to commenting and casting. His knowledge about the game is sadly very limited but its enough to get lower league players hooked and watching. I have so many friends who follow him like I follow day9. I don't like Husky myself, and even if he does it for money, so what ?

I doubt he was saying that..

That is a very bullshit statement to make.. no matter what point you are trying to prove..

Plus the bans were handed out for the manner in which they were voicing their opinion, not the opinion itself..
