I'm not sure what you're implying here. You're not surprised that a female gamer Terran cheeses and then fails at macro, teching, and late game? Are you attributing this failure to being female, or to being Terran?

^ Pretty sure the dudes implying that a female gamer would have less skill than a male and that even when there cheese fails they cant back it up with a solid follow through, very rude too.

Very cool interview, props to her on the tournament win

Pictures please?

Hey there.
I conducted the interview and I'm also pretty good friends with Navi. She hangs out in a mumble with a bunch of other people, which is why you heard male voices.

I used to watch her livestream. She's one of the ones who actually talks to her viewers rather than streaming music the whole time. It's great fun.

I would be rude, except for the fact that girls get their own personal tournament in sc2. It's pretty much saying that girls can't compete with the boys, and they need their own tournament to play competitively. Whoever made this tournament is insulting women more then this guy ever could.

So Tennis is rude that they have Man vs Man and Women vs Women in every Tennis competition out there? The same can be said for almost every sport out there(soccer, basket ball, golf etc..).
People watch these sports because of the excitement those bring. I love watch Kim Clijster vs Venus Williams as much as I enjoy Nadal vs Federer.
Having tourney for female only is essential in every sport and e-sport is no difference.

i wonder what she looks like. does anyone have any pics?

Yeah that's what I figured. Thanks.

No. Just typical of Terran play at less than pro levels, and my opinion of that comes directly from that retelling THEY told.

Nice interview and grats to her, definitely wanna check out some of the replays
I understand what some of you are saying but really, it's like TLO said on facebook a while back;
"...women and man can only stand on equal ground as long as you have a lot of women seriously playing. It comes down to pure math so thats why it's a good thing to support female leagues etc."
Anyway, it's not like they can't attend other tournaments if they wish to.

Not to derail the topic even more but please just think for a second before you make such a comparison, those sports all rely on your physique and therefore it makes sense to separate them. Maybe you're of the opinion that females are somehow inherently worse at gaming as well, but as far as i know there's nothing to support that. My personal opinion is that it's simply because there's just not enough female gamers, and even amongst the few that play there's certainly not many who devote themselves to the game as much as the current top players do.
Anyways, the interview was great and i enjoyed reading it. But i bet she said jaedong was the handsomest because of zerg bias, Nada doesn't have an entire thread about his body for nothing.

Don't know why you were warned for this post. It's true. If 'gamer girls' don't want to be segregated and poked at why do we go out of our way to make a seperate female cup. As if the two genders are any different when playing starcraft. Okay, let's make a male cup. It's quite a dumb idea and not at all an accomplishment.

Same reason there are things like bronze tourneys?

There's another reason to create a female tournament rather than to create an environment of equal ability (ballpark of it) - it's just darn fun to see females playing all in one place. Heck, I'm a female and I enjoy seeing other women play, and if it's against one another it's even cooler. You guys need to chill with all this political correctness and learn to have fun.

I was glad to hear about this. Gaming has typically been a boy's club (although it's getting much better, at least in the states). Games in general still have a hard time being taken seriously, and I think girl gamers have a harder time being taken seriously.
While female gamers can join tournies like MLG/GSL they're dominated by men. So how do we get women into the GSL? Holding a female league has a lot of benefits such as giving opportunities for women gamers to shine in an area all their own.
We men have basically grown up gaming together. Girl gaming is something that should be fostered if we want SC2 to become mainstream.
I don't understand all the "Why don't boys get their special leagues, too?" talk. Many, many SC2 tournaments out there are male-only by default because all the competitors are male.
Don't look at this as female gamers vs. male gamers. Look at this as a way to foster gaming in communities where gaming hasn't been as acceptable for people.
|
Hmm. Well, I've noticed a distinct lack of black people in recent tournaments. I think someone should create a black people only tourney, otherwise they'll never get any exposure or play competitively.

Navi, Is your name from Serial Experiments: Lain? I almost used this as my Bnet2 name. It's the name of Lain's computer.

I think it's the fairy from Ocarina of Time, since she kept saying listen every few seconds.
